That's what I was thinking, but it appears that this media outlet has won awards for investigative journalism.

ETA: Apparently, these folks have won the Artyom Borovik prize for investigative journalism....a "prestigious" award to earn in Russia.

It looks to be a conspiracy/information site.
What is pretty clear is that the MKRU site is claiming a good source 'in security' has given them that information, that's about all so far.
Could be another MH370 bad taste hoax by proxy, hoping to be picked up in English. There is a need yet to find out the veracity of that MKRU site.

It could be they get their new tips from people like the CNN ireport site does. Non vetted stories they publish from tipster.

Who knows. I did see on Fox news today, a bruhaha starting over whether the Malaysian Gov't is being honest in what they've been reporting on the plane. Even to the point of several governments now thinking they need to turn more attention on if the plane was actually hijacked.

Yes, they even used the dreaded word, *coverup* by the Malaysian Gov't.

I'll keep my mind open until I see something solid pan out.

I saw no mention on wn.com... or america.aljazeera.com....

The World News site is sort of a clearinghouse of major news around the world, but no dice on this one.

I'll reserve final judgement till further info, but I lean towards BS.

'Sensational or provocative items'. Sounds like The Weekly World News or similar publications, there were other articles on 'Snowden's anti-gravity weapon'. It smells like a false story.

Well from the same source, one article states the plane was hijacked and the people are safe -- [I wish]
And the other article states the plane was shot down

Soooo.....
*scratches head*

Speaking of which, some where I read one rumor was the pilot hijacked the plane and used the passengers as hostages to negotiate the release of a political prisoner and when the Malaysian government denied their request, the plane ran out of fuel and crashed

Once again, more rumors that can't be substantiated

Wonder if we'll ever know the truth

Worst.day.ever

For a site like this, yes.

And for those with super glue on their chairs.

Its its true, the story ought to break on Russia Today fairly quickly. Being a state propaganda machine, I'm sure Mr Putin would want to milk this one for all the prestige for being first with a story of global interest he can get.

Truth has nothing to do with Russia Today, except by coincidence.

Well I got a wee bit more, the story was available on 31st March, it has been used by a plethora of 'RU's' and I don't yet know the original source, or actual time yet. The Op's link is to the page used by MKRU's story, which is not currently the headline story there now. One site that did have the story, cover or not, says in translation, that the information source was given only under anonymity. It's not so clear then whose site, the source was given to, although the MKRU site does seem to imply that it was their source.

I need to add, the online version need not be picked up/used by the actual newspaper, just as CNN news did not go with the Maldives Boeing cargo hold fire extinguisher beach recovery story that IS in their online edition.

Thanks, SS. I'm working now to find additional sources and find a true translation.

Do you know if April Fools is celebrated in Russia and other parts of Europe?

Ohhh yes, Europe do celebrate April Fools day.

Yes I get you. The Phillip Woods family are highly distressed over that stupid AFD Iphone hoax, carried by many sites, and more so by postings on Facebook ad infinitum, and Facebook is having to bring all the entries down. There are aspects of that hoax though that are disturbing.

FB does that a lot.

More controversy, more traffic, more money. One thing I hate about FB. It's a game of share the story before it's been vetted.
