The Council of the European Union have announced the immediate launch of a military operation in the Central African Republic to help “achieve a safe and a secure environment” amid the escalating crisis, said the council’s order.

European Union Force RCA, led by the French Major-General Philippe Ponties, will compromise up to 1,000 troops. They are to provide “temporary support in achieving a safe and secure environment in the area, with a view to handing over to a UN peacekeeping operation or to African partners.”

The HQ and the troops will be located in Bangui, the capital of the Central African Republic and its largest city. The operational center will be located in Larissa, Greece.

he move has been authorized by the UN Security Council in resolution 2134 (2014).

“The launch of this operation demonstrates the EU’s determination to take full part in international efforts to restore stability and security in Bangui and right across the Central African Republic,” said the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the Commission, Catherine Ashton.

“I’d like to thank all the Member States and non-EU countries which are working together to make this operation a success. It is vital that there is a return to public order as soon as possible, so that the political transition process can be put back on track. ”

They have no money...so the EU/ IMF are going to make them pay in the blood of their soldiers. Being a debt slave to the IMF is no fun at all.

I wouldn't doubt if there was some backroom deal on this, hey Greece, how about you lend us some support from your military and we might be obligated to help with finances..................

The Operations Center will be in Greece. The commander is French. The Afican Union already has 6000 troops and the French 2000 in CAR trying to keep the peace. This is an additional force of up to 1000 peace keepers for 6 months. What the composition of the force will be has not been revealed.

It's an old story - colonization is cheaper than asteroid mining. And social engineering to promote conflict is the preferred strategy to justify take-overs aka "intervention."

The Central African Republic's mineral resource endowment includes copper, diamond, gold, graphite, ilmenite, iron ore, kaolin, kyanite, lignite, limestone, manganese, monazite, quartz, rutile, salt, tin, and uranium. Of these commodities, only diamond and gold were produced in 2006 - subsistence farming was the mainstay of the economy.[1]
