I'm sure people who spend any amount of time online has had the unfortunate, yet hilarious experience of dealing with "social justice warriors". I believe these creatures, who whine about everything they can think of, and in alot of cases just make stuff up, are a product of the leftist takeover of college campuses and the education system in general.

They tend to frequent sites like twitter, reddit, and tumblr, and if you need a good laugh, there is more material than you could ever want to see.

Are they mentally ill, or is it another case of creatures not having anything close to a foothold in reality?

So you want a world where people do not stand up for there right's or the right's of those around them.
A world where slavery is allowed, were social justice does not exist, where the downtrodden stay were they are so that the mindless thug can build his selfish tower on there body's and reap the benefit of there sweat and blood.
Forgive me but your post has absolutely no merit unless it was intended to spark this debate in which case it does but believe me the by and large majority of the human race regard the socio path minority whom think this is correct as the vermin of society whom have conned, lied and decieved there way to the top and it is merely apathy and the dimwittedness of these masses that stops them burning that tower down to the ground and lynching them.
By the way most so called social justice warriors are actually clever self serving individuals whom are using it as a leg up so to speak but some are genuine and you will find most people regard the genuine ones as decent SANE brave people with the integrity and courage to stand up for there convictions.

I think its dangerous labelling those who don't share your beliefs as "mentally ill". Could lead to all sorts of problems.

A damn good question.

I really don't know

There is such a fuzzy borderline between social disorders and mental illness. Social Anxiety Disorder (Social Phobia) can extend to the internet and Internet Addiction Disorder (IAD) is again on this hard to figure line between an illness and an affliction.

I wonder if you would could add the many-mostly middle aged divorced men who feel the need to be posers and gather photos and create the illusion of being an attractive young woman.

I heard that this was simply living out a fantasy and harmless as long as there is a wide gap between fantasy and reality.

Again I don't really know as ATS is my only contact with internet social settings.

Perhaps some one with more experience can explain it.

It is a re-treading of Socialist and Communists. A re-branding if you will.

It is people that allow their bleeding heart to make life based decisions, instead of their brain.

This isn't about not sharing my beliefs. Hell I would guess that very few people share my true beliefs and I don't think all of them are mentally ill.

This is about that subset of people who make stuff up to be offended about. People who obviously do not have a foothold in reality. People who are widely mocked, ridiculed, and laughed at for acting like the schizophrenic nutjobs a good number of them are

I don't see anything hilarious about them at all. They don't seem to understand that the very things they hope to fix will never be fixed if they get their way. Focusing on groups the way they do debases the individual. Politicians will never help groups of people who have been cultivated for political reasons because if they do actually fix the issues effecting those groups then the groups won't need the politicians anymore.

Can you give an example of a sane one?

One that doesn't proclaim themselves to be multiple genders? One that doesn't think being skinny leads to oppressing fat people? One that doesn't blame the straight white male heirarchy for every problem that they can think of in their sad little lives?

That description could be applied to any number of "subsets" of people in America.

It is important to remember that those who believe in socialism are not evil and do not intend to harm people, they believe that society can be deconstructed and reconstructed in a way which suits their desires. That is what makes it so difficult to promote healthy and logical scepticism.

Hopefully, most of us know that this cannot de done without totalitarianism, they simply do not understand the problem. The same group is frequently heard saying something along the lines of "what we need is a benevolent dictator".

It is our responsibility to help them to see reason, not to alienate and insult them (with some exceptions).

I think it's a mixture of the two to be honest. That and mix in boredom and the feeling of needing something to do. What better than to be able to sit on your rear end spouting out nonsense online?

And this goes for both ends of the extreme spectrum.

All you are seeing here is a particular personality trait. Personalities are diverse an can be unique. Everyone is different but many can still share similar traits.
You will encounter many more personalities on the internet than you could ever have in the 'real' world, so to speak. YOU have personality traits, interests and hobbies that others may share whilst others may find objectionable. I'm sure you would 'expect' others to respect your thoughts and feelings because you have every right to them. If someone told you that they felt you were 'unstable' because of one of your interests or traits you would be highly offended.
This is nothing more than people 'being people' ! Just accept them for what they are because guess what, YOU are whinging and whining about THEM ! What's the difference ?

You've obviously missed the irony in whining online about other people whining online. What conclusions should we draw about a guy calling himself "doubletap" and going on about the "leftist takeover" of college campuses? Garden variety Internet tough guy? There's no shortage of them in Internet forums either.

I'm curious to exactly what you are talking about? Could you give some examples of what you think is crazy?

But I do think the middle class corporate types DO mock and ridicule people. Back in the 60's people in this group though the idea of sharing drinking fountains was crazy too. I'm just guessing here but you probably belong to a specific social group - this doesn't mean other people share your opinion.

There's plenty of people that I don't agree with but almost no one I would call schizophrenic.

The very term "social justice" is suspect. We all have an innate sense of what justice is, so why the need to add the word "social"? That's usually a tip off that someone is conning you, like the term "intellectual property".

My take on "social justice" is that we live in a society plagued with a massive government which is largely funded through the enforced taxation of white males. This creates a cottage industry where certain groups can go before the government and hustle for a share of some of those white male tax dollars. The government is only too happy to oblige, since these social justice warriors are providing a socio-historic narrative to justify further predations on the productive class. This process, once it begins does not stop, but only escalates.

So, no, I don't think social justice warriors are necessarily mentally ill; they're just acting out of self-interest. But the fact that their interests involve stealing from others makes them immoral.

I think its dangerous labeling those who don't share your beliefs as "mentally ill".

It's also completely out of touch with reality.

The term "mentally ill" is nothing more than a fabricated weapon to be used by psychopaths against those who are exposing their lies.

“Biological psychiatry is a total fraud.” — Fred Baughman,

“Psychiatry” has NO, and I mean ZERO medical basis whatsoever.

Psychiatry is a Total Fraud

Not only is psychology without merit, but psychiatry defrauds the public as well. Medical psychiatrists have been trying for years to validate their biochemical theory of mental illness, but “after decades of research that has yielded not a single definitive biological marker connecting brain dysfunction to mental disorders,” we are letting doctors evaluate and treat us as if such diseases exist.

To put it more loosely, making a diagnosis of mental illness is “a near mindless act where you can speculate whatever you want and never be ‘wrong’ (if any new or unrelated symptoms emerge just add another diagnosis).”

In fact, there is not a single scientific study that shows prescription psychotropic drug users suffer from an objective, confirmable abnormality of the brain.

"What did liberals do that was so offensive to the Republican Party? I’ll tell you what they did. Liberals got women the right to vote. Liberals got African-Americans the right to vote. Liberals created Social Security and lifted millions of elderly people out of poverty. Liberals ended segregation. Liberals passed the Civil Rights Act, the Voting Rights Act. Liberals created Medicare. Liberals passed the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act.

What did Conservatives do? They opposed them on every one of those things, every one. So when you try to hurl that label at my feet, ‘Liberal,’ as if it were something to be ashamed of, something dirty, something to run away from, it won’t work, because I will pick up that label and I will wear it as a badge of honor."

Social justice is just another term to go with diversity. ALL HAIL DIVERSITY!!!
The only thing it accomplishes is to drive wedges between those they are trying to unite.

Asking if they are mentally ill isn't whining.

In my personal life, I do not get "offended", nor do my feelings get hurt over mere words.

My issue is that these nutjobs could infect the next generation , or do even more damage by forcing their psychosis on the masses through governmental policy.
