South and North Korea exchange fire as tensions rise with US Marines' exercise

North and South Korea fired artillery shells into each other's waters on Monday, forcing people on five South Korean islands on the frontline to evacuate their homes. Early on Monday, North Korea announced that it would conduct live-fire drills in seven areas north of the Yellow Sea boundary between the nations. South Korea responded by returning fire after North Korean shells landed in its territorial waters. North Korea fired 500 rounds of artillery shells over more than three hours, around 100 of which fell south of the sea boundary, South Korean Defense Ministry spokesman Kim Min-seok said. South Korea responded by firing 300 shells into North Korean waters, he said

Funny in the "Laugh because the world sucks and there's no other option" kinda way ?

The armaments corporations should be doing pretty well in the upcoming months, there is a lot of political instability globally right now and there are many situations that are on the verge of erupting as tensions are quite high.

That will keep sales orders coming in for now.
I don't really expect 'them' to allow a major global sized conflict but it's possible.
Doubtful but possible.

Your not wrong.. It says something about our mindset
when it is so easy to turn a potentially serious military issue
into a joke.

The Times we live in......

On one hand it seems ignorant to retalliate by firing shells uselessly into the water, even though the North Korean military did it first. But on the other hand the military is about showing strength, which is intended to act as a deterrent, so by not firing back the North Koreans, with the guidance of their infallible and infinitely wise leader, may see this as a sign of weakness. I don't think that, perceiving SK as weak, NK would strike, because they could never be stupid enough to think SK and its allies THAT weak, where they could overrun the country without consequences.

Plus, China is keeping NK on a short leash, whether we realize it or not. China would very well back NK in the event of a conflict, but knowing China, they will not get involved in a war unless it is on their terms. They don't want NK starting anything, that's for sure.

You always get trouble when you have american's around helping to show you how to shoot guns.

Now should we gamble our pristine labor camp with toilets and glass in the windows for that lump of mud over the border that has little more than a few wooden cow sheds and face a war with China for filling the south up with american missile system and China doing the same with the north.

Being the self imposed policeman of the world sure does have it's problems

I know if we keep our oar out then maybe they two sides can reunite and live in peace and we can start by stop playing silly games in someones back yard on the other side of the world.

Funny as in moronic. SK could'a saved the cash, sat back and laughed at Lil' Kims hair cut and been at least as effective.....

It never ceases to amaze me how governments choose to waste the money they have. First day of Libya the USA tossed 300 million in cruise missiles at them.

When your government has a seemingly unlimited supply of cash to waste of such crap perhaps they would have enough to do something good for the world.
