Of course it's difficult to get actual numbers because these people don't stop and check in with immigration when entering the US.
Then you have the temerity to charge CIS with fudged numbers.
FACT: NOBODY KNOWS THE ACTUAL NUMBERS OF ILLEGAL ALIENS.
Not wanting uncontrolled immigration doesn't make one Republican.
They make boatloads of cash for many right-wing business owners at the expense of taxpayers who subsidize their cheap labor through their use of
social services, schools, hospitals and public infrastructure.
This isn't about race, ethnicity or human rights.
It's about legal or illegal - a concept our government seems to apply in haphazard fashion.
The very rich and those who jump the border seem to fall under special protections not afforded the average citizen.
Do you think that is fair then?
Wait, so your logic in charging me with great "temerity" (excellent word choice, btw
) is that, since "NOBODY KNOWS THE ACTUAL NUMBERS" ...
well then, any old NUMBERS will do???
Perhaps you need to reread the article. Somebody supposedly knows the numbers quoted. The situation was supposedly that all these cases had been
turned over to ICE from various sources and that then (according to Breitbart) 35% were let go and according to the CIS article (that Breitbart is
supposedly quoting from) that only 35% were deported ... but aside from that little mix-up ... 35% of some number or 68000 ... my point was only what
was the "some number" and where did it come from?
That's conveniently left out of the article in Breitbart, and of course, would be a different number in the CIS article ...
But one would assume that, since these "careful calculations are being made independently" there was an actual number somewhere that was being used
(the number of cases "turned over") ...
... and that information is completely missing.
I myself can figure that if 35% of a number is 68,000 then the number has to be around 194,386 ... but where does that number come from?
Does it come from here?
“In 2013, ICE targeted only 195,000, or 25 percent, out of 722,000 potentially deportable aliens they encountered,” CIS’s Vaughan wrote. “Most
of these aliens came to ICE’s attention after incarceration for a local arrest.”
195,000 is close to 194,386 ... but of course, that makes no sense because the claim is that 68,000 were "released" and this says that 195,000 were at
Here's the point: we can play with numbers all night. These numbers don't jive with themselves or with the two articles. They're baloney.

The "actual numbers" only matter if we pretended that we were dealing with facts. You seem ready to accede to the fact that the numbers in the
Breitbart article don't make sense ... but you're still clinging to the idea that the other "facts" are real?
Try it for yourself. Go to the Breitbart article, copy any of the "quotes" into your browser of choice, and see if you can find them published
ANYWHERE on the internet (including the site, CIS, or the author, Jessica Vaughn, supposedly being quoted).
(Here, I'll do it for you:
Google Search on Breitbart
(Actually, it's still early enough to see that the "downstream" quotes at other right-wing blog sites are just picking up with the info from Breitbart
... it's like being there in the Echo Chamber for the first few "Helloos ...")
For example: "Chicago Got Newswire" copy of the Breitbart article
then some weird site called "Above Top Secret"
then Conspiracy Scope, then Brittus, then Mooserider Magazine, then Conservative Citizens ...
quoting the same banner paragraph from Breitbart.
CONCLUSION: There is no "original article" published as of this writing.
SECONDARY CONCLUSION: The information is made up for the Breitbart article.
So, anon72 ... can you explain this odd situation to us? Maybe I'm just not looking in the right places. Can you find this other report from CIS that
was supposedly released Sunday night?
I mean, before we just assume that criminals are being released willy-nilly and we're forced to adjust our monicles and chortle "why yes, I'm okay
with criminals being released, as long as they vote, ho ho ho!"
COME ON ... this is insulting to the intellect.
