As far as drummers go, I would be remiss if I didn't turn you on to Jaki Liebezeit from Can. Enjoy!

I've seen the six year old, truly amazing. Off to check out the Foo Fighter guy now.

If you don't know, Dave Grohl was the drummer for Nirvana [ Kurt Cobain ] and is now the front man for the Foo Fighters. He's a musical genius

He is also the most awesome man on the planet

I know a lot of today's "Best Drummers" are ranked due to popularity so trying to stay unbiased as possible, and going off of skill and technical styles..

Neil Peart - I say he's at the top because he has so many styles that he plays flawlessly. This guy is a library of drumming skills from every style.

Buddy Rich - He's the best Jazz drummer other than the above. This guy is the grandfather of Jazz

The Rev - May he rest in peace.. - Best metal/punk drummer. I might be a lil biased on this but he really does have the skill and speed that keeps me in awe. His skills are beyond just drumming as he wrote a lot of the bands music and lyrics to boot. This guy was a master of his own art. MIke Portnoy even said this guy was a genius.

Mike F'n Portnoy - This guy has creativity on his side... Love his styles and quick changes not to mention, very technical.

Joey Jordison - Listen to some Slipnot and you will understand. Take away all of the other drumming in the band and it will still leave you in wonder.

John Bonham - Need I say more?

Dave Lumbardo - Slayer drummer... Another kick @$$ pioneer

Animal! Haha Had to throw him in...

There are more out there but these are some of the very best. Ok.. Animal was a joke but give him some cred. Just please leave out Lars because ... well... If you're a drummer and you listen to Lars, you will understand.

Upcoming baddess... Meytal Cohen. I LOVE watching this woman play. She's is not only a melody to the eyes... She can keep up with the very best!

For those of us that still have those unwieldly vinyl things, there are a couple of things Bill and Dave Stewart do on "Feels Good to Me" that make you almost cry.
Add a cup of musical mead from Allan Holdsworth and the tears will flow.
Dave still was suffering from a long Caravan, and I consider it fusion from Purgatory.
It's sometimes "very hard to play, too"...Q. Frank Zappa
.
Oh yeah, Gene Krupa and Tony Williams, because I'm old school too. Good stuff
