Polish tanks heading towards Ukraine border?

I had a bit of a surprise on my Twitter feed this morning! The tweet below was retweeted hundreds of times and it appears to show German made Leopard tanks moving under the cover of darkness. The guy who took the photo claims he saw them passing through in his hometown of Polkowice, Poland. Take a look at the Tweet below...EDIT: These tanks are likely to be from the 10th Polish Armoured Cavalry Brigade.

Title is a bit misleading. The Leopard is German made, but the Polish army has a number of them, so they are probably Polish tanks. Quite a few NATO nations use Leopard MBT's. There has been a buildup by Polish forces near the Ukrainian border for some time now, as Poland is making sure it is prepared for the worst (and rightfully so) in case Putin moves further into the Ukraine or Europe.

The leopard is essentially a better version (Except for the armor) of the m1 abrams main battle tank, 50 of these if a tank on tank battle if properly deployed and manned would be equivelent to at least 400 russian T80's in operation but then the russians probably kept there armor to themselves on there export models like we did on ours (British chobham armor is one of the best armors in the world and the german made Leopard (which has the same exact chasis as the abrams) has a version of it as has the Abrams though the abrams also uses depleted uranim in it armor composite.
A very dangerous prospect for any russian commander and a correct show of force as unless russia gets the message further aggression is inevitable and both poland the the cheks have had there fill of russian occupation so will never bow to it again.

This can go one of two ways and it depends on the Russians, if they intend truly to go no further then it can mean a heavily militarized border with the former warsaw pact but now nato countries being the major players or it can if russia means to expand further mean the needless death of lot's of kid's in uniform as after all that is all the soldiers on both sides really are but the Russians may come off with the blood nose on that one though there attach choppers are indeed something to be feared as even the best MBT is vulnerable to them.

You know if we are talking history if was not the polish soldier whom lost poland but there officers and government whom insisted on keeping there horse cavalry and only had an air force consisting of a few WW1 biplanes, actually the Polish army at the time was larger than the attacking german force but the germans used combined force attack which they had copyed from a british peactime pre war excercise in which the germans were acting as civilian observers as under the treaty they were technically forbidden to have an armed force.
The Polish soldier died in there thousands but truly tried to fight with there outdated weapons so it would be a mistake to underestimate them in battle and during the battle of britain Polish whom joined the RAF as the polish free air force shot down the most german planes of any sqadron in that battle, There was a scene in a movie of the battle where the british instructor did not know how good they were and tried to teach the proverbial granny to suck egg's.
I agree with what you are saying, and technically at the start of the second world war we were at war with russia as an ally of nazi germany, it was after barbarossa that we took them on board but the world forgets we stood alone for nearly two years.
There was a rumor and my mother swears it is true as she being 81 once spoke to an old man whom said he was there, according to him we had all the men whom could not fight because of there age dug in, in hidden underground bunkers and the germans tried an invasion (now we know history does not record it but this man swore it), he said there are thousands of germans buried in secret graves down south, another story was about 2 german pow's whom started talking about how they had been taken captive in britain in a northern ireland pow camp and how the british mp told them to shut up and led them away, apparently banned weapons were used and it was in both sides interests to forget about it as it may have been an unsanctioned ss operation and both sides would have recieved a moral blow.

Still the ukrainians never held there ground, but I respect there soldiers dignity in not firing but also not surrendering.

This is HogWash !! M1s are the best tanks in the world. Accept it. 20% better than any T-90s or Leopards.
Only problem with M1-A1s is they use too much gas as they are very heavy.
Fire Range, accuracy, digital automation, crew comfort etc. they are top class.

Only fools send kids to battlefield with wrong information to get slaughtered.

Really? your saying that the Russians and Russia are Animals that annexed another sovereign country's land even though the majority voted in favor of joining Russia peacefully comparing to the armed thugs in Kiev?

I would have thought any Tank, armoured vehicle or plane would be nothing more than coffins on a battlefield where superpowers play.

It's neighbors land... right.
They didn't invade, they were there for over 200 years on land that had historically been theirs and was given away more or less by accident. If our government is standing on the side of justice here, how they explain their even less historically justifiable and unwelcome presence in Guantanamo, and the fact that we would never stop at taking only part of Cuba if they were working with Russia to force us out and put defenses there that could close the gulf of Mexico and comprise our defense policy?

But for the record, to hell with Putin- I hope he has to share a room in hell with our own leaders. They deserve eachother- but we the people deserve no part of the carnage they are willing to risk so they can pretend to be masters of the world.

MMM I think the Russians will not come out of this with anything less that a big time a** whoppin and cry for peace talks real fast before they lose land. Russian choppers will be plucked out of the sky easier than shooting ducks in a shooting gallery. U.S. Stingers and other new hand held and mobile SAM's will be everywhere. The Russians could not keep their choppers in the sky in A-stan when the Teliban Turban Terrorist Army got new Stingers.

A-10s, F-16s, Super Cobra's and Apaches will wipe the battlefield clean of Russian armor pretty dam quick when NATO's vastly superior air power destroys Russian fighter aircraft in two days time. Russian heavy armor will make it to central Ukraine or maybe even farther but then they will be held there and destroyed as they retreat. The U.S. Air Force is really good at killing Russian command and control from the top down to their tanks.

These battles have been fought a thousand times already in every NATO nations war rooms. Air power wins the day every time. Loose the air and you lose your tanks.
I feel sorry for the innocent people in Ukraine because it will no longer be a home, it will be the battlefield.
