0.1km = 100m
That looks more like an impact than a fracture or slip.

I'm watching the Quake Cam, and it's certainly moving quite a bit.
Also, the USGS info page says this about the location:

Location
33.929°N 117.922°W depth=1.9km (1.2mi)

Ok, that's shallow. It'll be interesting to see if the depth is re-figured, or stays the same.

This is earthquake country.

A small roller is hardly anything to get excited about.

Edit: Not so big, apparently. 3.6 looks to be what I was watching. Better a little one than a doozy

indeed, Annee.

but i reckon it's been a while 'southern' los angeles county felt anything. luckily i wasn't the 1st in this thread to point out it felt eerily like an (extended) boat (wobble). usually its not so 'grey goose' =D

Dude here's the crazy part. I live in Brentwood/ Santa Monica area. My family all live in west Hollywood. They all felt the quake and are alarmed by how long it went.

Crazy part. I just asked three people in my building and two couples walking their dogs over the last 15 minutes if they felt a Earthquake. All if them said no. I too felt nothing. A 5.3 is big. But nobody in my neighborhood ( bundy / Santa Monica / Wilshire neighborhood ) felt anything.

Something strange about this earthquake.

Man that was a good one. This could be good or bad, either the west coast is gearing up for the big one, or it's been releasing a lot of pressure lately, which could be a good thing.

Ummm...yikes. Not a big quake, but watching the live seismo right now, its pretty much constant.

TA....this activity, at that depth.....what do you think?

Been here 67 years. Just feels like another day.

If I'd have lived my life in fear of quakes, wouldn't have had much of a life.

WOW, that also explains why it felt so extended!

Dog stupid iPhone auto correct. Fixed my post. But weirdly I just asked two other people walking randomly down my street if they felt an earthquake and they both said no. thats 7 strangers in my neighborhood in 20 minutes that all say they felt no earthquake. There us nothing special to the geology of my neighborhood. Why are people not feeling a quake here?

Something odd about this quake like its semi localized.

Well turns out there was a 3.6 about an hour earlier, which will now no doubt be classified as a foreshock. And where there's one foreshock, there can be two... Uh oh. Not good. Stay alert over there, folks.
