Mugabe should be the next target

Given that George Bush and Tony Blair used the excuse (amongst others) that Iraq needed to be attacked in order to rid the world of the tyrant Saddam, logic dictates that the next target should be Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe.

While all eyes have been on Iraq, the country once hailed as an African success story has turned into a despotic basket case with frightening speed.

And while the spotlight has been thrown on Saddam (and billions spent to overthrow him), the world has turned a blind eye to the atrocities committed by Mugabe, who many see as an even more brutal dictator.

Zimbabwe is a country where anyone who criticises the government immediately puts themselves at very serious risk.

Robert Mugabe is following a policy of systematic repression of all opposition to his government through arbitrary arrests, torture, executions and by ending freedom of speech.

This tyrant has got away too long

Of course that will never happen will it ? - Firstly, Zimbabwe has no oil reserves. Secondly Mugabe never planned to assassinate Poppy Bush as Saddam is said to have done.

:shk:

Very true, there was more than "liberation" in the Iraq war. Zimbabwe has no nukes so it wouldn't be popular to strike them, unless a good campaign of anti human rights is there, but then they would absoloutely have to go to the UN for that one, and get some support. The scary part is it could possibly end up as Somalia 2? There's not much muslim population I believe, more of a french colony, so funding wouldnt be there like somalia was, it would be peacekeeping and possibly a coup before an attack were to occur.

Robert Mugabe is just as bad as Saddam. Human rights? His "land reformation" project a few years back left inadequate farmers to tend to land they knew very little about managing thus it helped create a large food shortage which apparently came from "the drought" as he said. He has no respect or understanding of private property rights obviously or any rights. He has takin a Stalinist/Hitler type approach to politics and government by becoming very paranoid of any opposition and killing that opposition.
