Perhaps we should not focus so much on me and maybe the topic?

All it is doing is showing you lot up as being unable to hold an intelligent debate, instead resorting to ad hominem attacks

We'd love to, but you seem to have appointed yourself judge, jury, and executioner:

"I don't see any evidence of ministerial backing, but point it out to me and I'll have a look (and then tell you why you're all wrong and I'm right)"

You remind me of a friend of mine who thinks he's always right, even when he's wrong, and rather than admit he's wrong he'll argue black is white all day long rather than say "yeah okay."

If you want to see the evidence of ministerial backing - go and look, it's right there in black and white.

But no doubt you'll claim that's wrong too - you've got an idea in your head, or decided to take an obnoxious and contrary point of view, and now no matter who does or says what you're going to stick with what you want to say is right no matter what.

I have to ask you - and I don't want this to sound cruel or derogatory - but do you suffer from any kind of mental illness or are you on any kind of meds for say depression or say a manic depressive condition or other form of mental illness?

You remind me of Mike Norman vs Peter Schiif - can't or rather won't see the wood for the trees.

And that is enough of that thank you very much. Does anyone remember the topic at hand?

Here is a hint, it is NOT any other member of ATS.

Keep it up, and post bans WILL be applied.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled thread. Do not reply to this post.

You seem to be slightly clueless how it works - you make the claim, you provide the evidence.

And I wasn't waiting to shoot it down, I was genuinely interested because if it was true, then it is a serious breach of law and you'd have a point. As it happens, you have not only failed to provide said evidence, but also changed your story to it now just being a "former employee" of a Minister, rather than having "ministerial backing".

No, it really does have ministerial backing - go to the "thisisthebigdea.com" website and look at press - and there is the very minster responsible, or at least backing the "inquiry" into energy prices backing the website itself before the announcement of the inquiry, saying he "strongly welcomes this" - here

Backing the website of an ex employee of another minister, a colleague of his..

An ex employee who left the employ of the afforementioned minister in Dec 2013, seting up this website in Jan 2014, and now in Mar 2014 a ministerial inquiry into energy prices - by the same minister - Ed Davey - who backed this very cause & website...

Cronyism? We'll see, because since I BROKE THE NEWS HERE, it's been picked up by an investigative journalist who is famed for bringing UK government corruption to task.

So watch this space.

Mate.

Excellent, I eagerly await the results of said investigation. Who does he work for, by the way?

I'm all for bringing them to account, when there is actually something to be brought to account for. I just am not sold that there is much, if anything, in this beyond "timing". It has been known for a while this inquiry is likely to be taking place and has been a hot topic for years - anyone with their ear to the ground could have started something similiar.

Looking through their testimonials, they have support from a wide variety of sources, including the Energy minister (which is only right as it would be daft to oppose it), the Shadow Business Secretary and various other personalities from the financial and "money saving" world.

On the point of Ed Davey, his Department has actually been doing trials of "collective switching" to see if they had any merit, so it is only natural he should then give moral support to them. It is also worth noting that thisisthebigdeal had written to every MP asking them for support and to highlight it to their constituents - only natural considering it is a hot topic and every party is gunning for the "Big 6".

Now, it is also worth noting that Henry, one of the two founders, is quite open about having worked for Government and even for the Department of Energy. There is nothing wrong in what he is doing as he has left his former employer and gone out his own. Yes, he probably got the idea while working at DECC, but that is not evidence of anything. Many a business has been started up by a former employee of some-such from an idea they got while working for them. Microsoft is a prime example...

I personally think you are clearly reading way to much into this. It's not even a new idea, Asda have teamed up with a money saving website to do the same, Which? ran a campaign in 20122 and some councils have been doing this for tenants for a few years as well.
