I find it idiotic to try to paint Russia as evil empire. When US and NATO has killed directly and indirectly over 1 million people in the last 14 years.

Or that there are more prisoners in the US than any where else, so much so that it accounts for 25% of the "imprisoned" population of the world.

Well I'm intrigued, and eager to see what learned scholars of scripture has to say. Your thread did have me pulling up my bible to read the context of the chapter though..

Revelation 17:10-29

10 And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space.
11 And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition.
12 And the then horns which thous sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hours with the beast.

7 kings = 7 leaders of revivals of the Holy Roman Empire (Vatican + European governmental power).

This scripture was made known to an Apostle over God's Church during WW2 (circa 1940).

5 have fallen (1- Justinian, 2- Charlemagne, 3- Otto the Great, 4- Hapsburg Dynasty, 5 - Napoleon) and one is (6 - Hitler), and the other not yet come (future point in time as of the revealing of the interpretation of this scripture). And when he comes (the 7th revival), he must exist for a short period of time.

And the Beast that was (Holy Roman empire), and is not (currently existing), even he is the eighth (demonic spirit ruling over all 7 revivals), and is over the seven, and goes into destruction (speaking of Satan).

A revival of the Holy Roman empire will soon occur under the name of the United States of Europe, and they will last but a short while before the return of Jesus Christ.

The temple is spiritual. The people in the Body of Christ are the "living stones" fit jointly together to form a Temple unto the Eternal, whose builder and maker is Christ.

The apostasy spoken of in Daniel and attributed by the Church of Laodicea in Revelation fulfilled the destruction of the "third temple" leaving "no stone left upon another" as all of God's people at that time were spewed out of God's mouth (rejected for their lukewarm spiritual attitude).

Physically thinking mankind, looking for a physical temple the be physically destroyed in physical Jerusalem will not grasp where we are in time.

Spiritually thinking mankind (those in the remnant church, where the carcass is), knowing by experience the spiritual temple whose maker and builder is Christ was already built and had already been destroyed spiritually (apostasy spoken of in Daniel), in spiritual Jerusalem (Jeru = way of life; salem = peace; Jerusalem = way of life which leads to peace) have to potential to know where we are in time.

Jesus Christ makes it very clear who makes up the Temple of the living God, it is the people, not the building on the Temple Mount.

Polycarp himself rejected it. That's a HUGE rejection.

Revelation is the meeting place of the Old and New Testament. It prophetically ties the Bible together, and completes it. Furthermore, Revelation follows the same rhetorical syllable metering found only in the original languages of the OT and NT.

FACT - The leaders of the Church didn't accept 'Revelation until ~ 500 AD
FACT - Even with the leadership accepting it, many of the big names still rejected it. Like Polycarp.
FACT - Revelation is unnecessary for Salvation in Jesus.
FACT - 2,000 years of Church history and learned theologians studying it, and no one knows what - if anything - it means.

Believe what you want. Revelation is irrelevant.

There are two very important rules to follow when interpreting scripture:

1. Do not blindly follow the wisdom of highly esteemed men (1 Cor 3:18-21).

2. Test the spiritual content and context of any idea or document in question (1 John 4:1-3).

To the Spirit filled believer, the Old and New Testament fits together like a puzzle. The unified message glorifies Jesus as Messiah. The Book of Revelation is coherent to me, and it calibrates the sequence of prophecies from from the cross to the Eternal State. I dont care what Polycarp said or thought, my eyes are on the harmony found in the epistles.

The world didnt revolve around Polycarp, there were groups in the east and west that widely accepted the Book of Revelation.These were people who heeded God's word, not man's

n daniel, each of the Kings is referring to Kingdoms or Empires or political systems.

Classically, these Kingdoms are believed to be as follows:

The Kingdom of Bablyon (Gold)
The Kingdom of the Medes and Pesians (Silver)
the Kingdom of the Greeks (Bronze)
The Kingdom of Pagan Roman Empire (Iron)
... and then a new "Kingdom" (Iron mixed with Clay) which is believed to represent modern political systems like Ecumenical rule, Democracy, Socialism & Communism.

It is only recently that people have been led to believe in a person of anti-christ. Prior to that anti-christ was seen as a kingdom, political movement or "spirit of the age".

That interpretation skips over the Assyrian empire, which ruled the area for 300 years, as well as the Mede empire being its own empire for 50 years before becoming the Medio-Persian empire, not to mention the Persian Achaemenid Empire, which lasted for nearly 200 years. So there were 7 empires in history in this area, not four. Therefore, the statue is not referring to them.
