KUALA LUMPUR - Malaysia announced on Monday night that Malaysia Airlines (MAS) flight MH370, which disappeared on March 8 while travelling from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing, was lost in the southern Indian Ocean.

MAS informed families of the 239 passengers and crew members that the plane was assumed to have crashed with no survivors.

This was the official report by the Malaysian PM, the reason for this announcement was because of debris sighted by satellite imagery and subsequently spotted by Australian and Chinese planes. Pings which were sent from the plane transmitted every hour indicated that it could have flew a northern or southern arc. Inmarsat a British global network satellite company said that using a technique based on the Doppler Effect they were able to narrow the route down as the southern track.

These findings are inconsistent with earlier reports where the Malaysian government said that the plane was deliberately hijacked, and that the transponder and the ACARS was turned off by someone with the knowledge to avoid detection by authorities. The plane also flew at a weird altitude of 39,500 ft possibly to avoid collision, planes only fly at round numbers like 39,000 and 40,000.

Then there was the revelation that the plane turned back and flew west of Malaysia and towards the Andaman sea which was picked up by Malaysian military data.

The first was reported by military radar and Thailand had also shared that they picked up something in their military data to support the first flight route.

Another finding that support the first flight route would be the discovery of flight simulator software in the pilot's home which has five Indian Ocean runaways in Maldives, India and Sri Lanka.

These findings are inconclusive that the pilot was the hijacker, but it is still very strong evidence. The new spin provided by the media is the theory proposed that there was a fire onboard which caused the plane's systems to be shut off with the crew fainting and had the plane flew autopilot towards west of Perth before crashing which seems highly suspicious given of the deliberate measures like flying at the weird altitude and both Malaysian and Thai radar picking up an unknown aircraft. However, this was seem to be promoted as the official theory to give a closure to this case.

Right, because In Flight Emergencies never happen. Nope, certainly not. It had to be staged. I mean, there are only about 93,000 commercial flights around the world every day (and two or three times that if you add in private/business flights). It's unheard of for there the be emergencies in flight!

And it wasn't a fire, it was fumes in the cabin, which could have come from anywhere.

Emergencies do happen, but weigh in all the possibilites. Is it possible for a plane to fly 7 hours (This was concluded from the signal sent from the plane) after it caught on fire? Even if possible, what was the unknown aircraft that Malaysian and Thai military radar picked up if it did not flew that path?

There are too many holes left unanswered.

Yes, it could. If the fire was in the cockpit oxygen system, it would go out after the oxygen it was feeding on ran out. Or if it was in the electronics bay it would have gone out if the crew depressurized to fight it (which is what they should have done).

MH370 would show up as an unknown after the transponder went out. There is no way to get any data from it anymore.

Sounds like its time that Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 has it own forum,,or atleast a Airline Disaster Forum,this could go on awhile ,,if we ever do find out what really happened,,,that way we would know what parts have already been debunked....

Even if it could, the flight paths were different. Have you taken a look at the two maps? Most likely you do not live in Asia and do not know the countries boundaries well but the first route which was picked up by military radar was way off course to the supposed crash site far off western perth.

Could a fire in the cargo hold cause enough smoke to incapacitate the crew?

Lithium batteries could easily create problems for both the crew and aircraft. At least three aircraft were destroyed by lithium battery fires, one of which crashed, killing both pilots on board (UPS freighter).

This explanation is possible, but I am just trying to keep an open mind in thinking of all the possibilities. The Malaysian government once said that the plane changing course was a deliberate act of hijack, and it was confirmed to be so. They also claim the way it flew was the act of a skilled aviator.

Now they say it is fire which caused the crash, and all the pilots and crew were dead/passed out and it flew on autopilot. This is so much in contrast with the earlier reports.

Just too many inconsistencies in my opinion.

The Malaysian government has too much interest in it being a hijacking. There is too much benefit in it for them if it did turn out to be one, and not a mechanical problem. So they are going to push the hijacking theory for all they can.

Yes. Because one of the causes of fumes COULD be fire. And if it is, you have absolutely no time to put it out. It's two minutes or so for cabin flashover if it is in the cabin. You always expect the worst with fumes in the cockpit or cabin, so that if it turns out to be a fire, you're prepared, and don't waste time getting out to the aircraft, and having people die because of it.

And no, I don't. They always hype routine in flight emergencies after a plane crash. Just like they hype the Russian planes flying near other countries. It sells better.

I know a very little bit about autopilot, you set your altitude and heading to follow your VOR beacons, right? What I do know a little more about however is the VOR beacons and false VOR beacon technology as applicable to countermeasures in bringing planes down in the wrong place. If the plane was on autopilot and set to follow VOR and ended up in the South Indian Ocean west of Perth, the only way that is going to happen is if there is a false VOR beacon on another plane MH370 was tracking/following. The altitude could have been set on it's own. I seem to remember, I'll neither confirm nor deny anything, that the Israeli's and Motorola were working on this exact technology.

I honestly can't see any other reason why the plane would be so far off course. The navigation system I believe not only uses VOR, but it also uses GPS and planetary magnetics (north/south poles). The only way to turn off the ancillary guidance systems I think would be through "fly-by-wire" programming or remote program injection and that would likely come out of Diego Garcia.

What I don't get is the motive and who stands to gain by this catastrophe? Unless of course the whole SW of Perth is a smokescreen for something else or it's a case of watch-the-plane, don't watch what we're doing over here with the other hand. In which case, is it about the Ukraine, new laws in the US or your country, is it something else???? I don't know but the whole thing stinks! They can track us with a $200 cell phone and listen to conversations 12,000 miles away, they can track every purchase we make and know more about our finances that we do, why can't they track a piece of equipment worth hundreds of millions of dollars with probably 200 cell phones on it?

Again now, im thinking if the autopilot theory was real, why did it crashed in the remote area of western Perth? (It was very far off Perth) and the Australian government said it will take hours from Perth to reach the crash site using planes. There isn't any landing strip near the crash site, it is all deep sea.

So now the official theory is that the fire caused the plane to go autopilot first towards India, then change off course by the so called autopilot towards a very remote ocean area? Of course, these discrepancies aren't pointed out in the media.

Not buying any of it. There are so many inconsistencys and premature reports from the Malaysians. If this was picked up by the Malaysian military radar I am sure that they they would have known this at least a day after the plane went missing, but they want to report this now? Something happened and they are either covering their own asses or someone else's.
