Five dead in Colorado plane crash

A single engine plane traveling from Gadsden, Alabama to Montrose, Colorado crashed into a reservoir in Ouray County, Colorado on Saturday. Divers, and a ROV confirmed that there were five bodies on board. The aircraft was found upside down in 3 feet of silt, under 60-70 feet of water on Monday.

RIDGWAY, COLO. – Authorities confirm that five bodies have been found in the wreckage of a single-engine plane that crashed into a southwestern Colorado reservoir.

Ouray County authorities say a remote-controlled rover and divers spotted the bodies Monday.

Authorities say the wreckage will have to be brought to shore before the bodies can be removed. They say the plane is upside down in about 3 feet of silt and about 60 or 70 feet underwater.

The water was only about 70 feet deep, so they probably had some speed when they hit the bottom still. If it's soft enough then it would bury itself.

suppose i could understand that if it was say a few inches, but 3 feet is pretty significant, hard to imagine the impact needed for a plan to travel through 70 feet of water then through 3 feet of silt up from the floor back ontop of itself
