Are there any famous songs about where you live?

My little town has been immortalized in a song by Rush

Lakeside Park is approx. 5 mins from my house... I've spent many great times down there in the past

Neil Peart the drummer of Rush actually went to my highschool... which is kinda neat, one of the best drummers on the planet is from my town...

Its a hole in the earth really... I call it the arm pit of Canada, but hey... Its where I was born and raised

And aside from the nasty side of society that lives here, its actually a beautiful town

Unfortunately the person that made this video recorded "Port Dalhousie", which is on the opposite side of Lakeside park... He didn't know, but that's alright, you can still see Lakeside in the video.

Any part where you see lighthouses is actually Lakeside park...

Here it is... Hope you enjoy seeing a part of my little town

Are there any songs about your home town?

Lets see em!

I was born in Oklahoma, lived in Arizona, and I have never been to Spain....

So, close enough.

"Fare thee well Northumberland" by Mark Knopfler is about Newcastle. I moved to Kingston, Canada and The Headstones did a cover mentioning it. The Tragically Hip are from here but I don't know if they wrote a song about Kingston (probably). I'm sure there's other songs out there also.

Not quite my home town, it's down the road a bit, but I did live there and work there for a while. It's not in English, but the lyrics are really beautiful as is the music, imo. An old film of Montreal in winter is part of this older original presentation. I hope you like it.

If something isn't up to my standard I refer to it as "inferior potassium".

Huge facepalm, How could I have forgotten that the region where I currently reside was made famous by the late Stompin' Tom Connors, who wrote songs about so many places that man became an institution.

Raising my glass to you Tom!
