Wash. State /15 homes may have been wiped out by slide.

Cascade Valley Hospital in Arlington has been alerted at least 15 homes may have been wiped out in the slide. No injuries have been reported to the hospital at this time, but officials are encouraging people to bring blankets, clothing and food to the hosipital to be ready. A mudslide, carrying at least one house with people inside, is blocking Highway 530 near Oso, in Snohomish County.

Some are listening to the scanners and are reporting 4 deaths, many trapped and a few that have already been life-flighted out.

There was a request to restrict airspace for the rescue helicopters/life-flights/military helicopters but most of the media helicopters are grounded anyways because the authorities are still investigating the news heli crash in Seattle earlier this week - So not much in the way of proper news at this moment.

River that runs through there completely blocked by slide, water level changes are noted. Up to 15 homes lost (Read that all homes on Steelhead Drive are gone).

Just a heads up, your article actually states three homes.
I would say its safe to assume that as events unfold and rescue workers clear the scene and search for survivors more details come out.
Its the same with any tragedy in a 24 hours new environment , people want details asap even if they may be incorrect.
I say time will tell, and hope that you and your article are correct in that the original estimate was an overshoot.

Per different twitter posts:

Rescue crews report hearing cries for help within the debris but since the debris dam is so unstable, command is not allowing the victim(s)' extrication. Heard that bridges that cross the river downstream of the mudslide could be in danger if the dam breaks.

Such a tense sad situation.

They are asking people to evacuate along the river. Hydro expert says that if the debris dam "blows", a wall of water 10-15 feet high would barrel down the river at upwards to 70-80 mph.
