University of California-Santa Barbara Feminist Professor Charged in Confrontation w/Pro-life Teen

University of California at Santa Barbara Associate Professor Mireille Miller-Young was charged with one misdemeanor count each of theft, battery and vandalism in the March 4 incident, Santa Barbara County District Attorney Joyce Dudley announced Friday. The charges came days after 16-year-old Thrin Short and her parents met with prosecutors.

Thrin told authorities what she told FoxNews.com earlier this month: She, her older sister Joan, 21, and some other pro-life activists were holding signs and demonstrating in a free speech zone on the bucolic campus March 4 when Miller-Young, who also teaches courses on pornography, went berserk.

This is an update to the original story of a university professor who assaulted a minor child who was peacefully exercising her right to free speech. I actually expected her to get a pass since she is part of the educational establishment. The irony here is that a professor of higher learning who should be intelligent, open-minded and non-violent could display such uncouth human behavior .

It is even more ironic that this crime occurred in a 'free speech' zone on campus. The mere fact that you need a special zone for free speech in America is disgusting. The idea that a highly-educated, university employee is unable to respect a university policy which is already limiting our liberty is even more appalling to me.

I hope this human scum is appropriately convicted, humiliated and fired for her intolerance. She is a poor example of the kind of person that should be an educator.

This is just as bad as when someone on the other side of the fence goes to an abortion clinic and kills the doctor, which everyone probably remembers..
This woman is obviously self possesed by her views and probably does not see the real reasons why she feels this way.

Yes, and those free speech zones only succeed as "zones" because people are reduced down to just the individual level and given punitive incentive to follow along, (like "do this or be expelled from school); but if all of the students and people everywhere fought like angry cats dipped in hot water about this assault on our freedom (especially in a college) then our country might have a chance against this enforced divide of our citizens.

Dividing the country makes controlling the population so much easier.
Having "free speech zones" is a huge agenda and a criminal conspiracy by TPTB and any politician that is not fighting against it is just as guilty in aiding the demise of a free society.

People should flood college deans and faculty phones to remove this from campuses and declare all zones are free speech zones. Like it is supposed to be..Just the average college officer going along with this is a sign that maybe it is being forced from the highest US officials down to them. Waking up from the matrix is also finding out how deep you are in the rabbit hole. (it is too deep)..

Sorry, but pro-life people should be "pro-their-lives" and stop trying to force others for their choices.

In fact, people that are pro-life should think about adopting if they really want to do something right for children in general.

I'm anti tobacco, yet I won't go around in the streets and remove cigarettes from smokers mouths and crush them on the floor. And second hand smokes affects me DIRECTLY, yet I won't go nazi on every smoker.

So you are okay with a minor child being robbed and assaulted by this professor because she is pro-life or did you miss that part of the article? I support abortion rights, but I also support freedom of speech. You come across as dismissive of this professor's anti-social behavior because you don't support the politics of her victim.

What I have noticed about people who take sides is they are intolerant of others. Such as feminism. IMO they take sides because they are that way. I try myself not to take any sides and to tolerate others beliefs. It gets harder though because others act like animals that roam the Earth with no conscious that rather respond with violence rather than legal means.
