I'm afraid you don't quite understand the world economy
reply to post by TritonTaranis

Don't be afraid...I've spent the last 40 years studying it...I think I have a better than average understanding.

It's a world economy and it is complexly interwoven like a deck of cards

Indeed.

If the US default so does china

Does this knowledge somehow make you think that the consequences will be any less horrific for your society? News flash....the vast majority of the Chinese still live in the 16th century....most wouldn't even know China had collapsed.

But heres the thing....China will recover. It always has for the last 6000 years. Will America fare as well do you think??

And believe me the Chinese have a really really big bubble looming over there heads unlike any other bubble in world history

Indeed they do. Want to know one vastly important point you're leaving out?

China is the largest creditor nation on Earth with massive financial reserves, while the US is the largest debtor nation on Earth. Who do you think is in a better position to weather a financial storm??

When the US falls the world falls, and the elites rebuild, but not in the East

As well as a student of finance...I am also keenly interested in history. The elites won't escape this mess unscathed....they never do. The French and Russian revolutions are two prime examples of this.

Why wouldn't the East rebuild?? Typical American arrogance. China has had a contiguous civilization for 6000 years. They have been invaded hundreds of times over the millenia....and they are still here. I wonder if America will last that long??

The game is rigged, and Russia and co are locked in a eternal headlock

Oh...they certainly try to rig the game with various levels of sucess...but they can't control everything...no matter how much they want to.

Nice talking to you.

Erm....

I mean, there really IS a reason that we are the largest economy in the world.

What are you basing that statement on please?
Because on this list based on GDP...You're not. There are 6 countries whose GDP exceed your 51,248.21. The top country being
Qatar @105,091.42
Luxembourg @79,593.91
Singapore @61,567.28
Norway @56,663.47
Brunei Darussalam @55,111.20
Hong Kong @53,432.23

These figures are for 2013

Here is a really interesting article on who is trading with who outside the petrodollar.....

And here's another one from 12 months ago. The writing has been on the wall since this time last year.

And people still can't understand why Gaddafi had to go?????

Actually, the United States is the largest economy in absolute terms. Personally, I think it is shameful that the wealth is so unfairly distributed that we are seventh in the world in terms of GDP per capita. At least we are better than Russia, whose gas wealth is so unfairly distributed that they rate 52nd by those standards, lower than Poland and the Baltic states, which are presumably next on Putin's shopping list. Feel free to ignore these facts if they make you uncomfortable.

You think? The chinese have been buying land all over the shop...

That’s part of an evolving proposal Beijing has been developing quietly since 2009 to convert more than $1 trillion of U.S debt it owns into equity.

Under the plan, China would own U.S. businesses, U.S. infrastructure and U.S. high-value land, all with a U.S. government guarantee against loss.

Yu Qiao, a professor of economics in the School of Public Policy and Management at Tsighua University in Beijing, proposed in 2009 a plan for the U.S. government to guarantee foreign investments in the United States.

WND has reliable information that the Bank of China, China’s central bank, has continued to advance the plan to convert China’s holdings of U.S. debt into equity owned by China in the U.S.

China dropping the dollar would be seen as an act of war

Pretty sure that debt would exist anymore and the US would not be handing over land

If you truly believe that then more fool you I guess

And as for US resources

You see the red bit?

If this happens the US will have no say in the price of oil.

Check out OPEC....they are not happy with US stance over Syria and threatening to go with gold, not the Petrodollar......Independnce Day you say?.....The day Russia and China put pen to paper will be the day many, many countries will get their freedom from corrupt politicians, banksters and corporations.....and it will not be nice....there will be cac (no I didn't mis-spell cake!

They can make threats all they want it will always come back and bite them in the arse twice as hard

The game is fixed

The west can't lose

The sooner people see this the better tbh

All that is happening is Russia China et el are threatening to throw the planet into a dark age because they hate the fact that the west is holding all the cards

The west give rise to modern day civilisation, they set up the game and rules... Got china and much of the rising and emerging markets up and running and now they do t like the game anymore and want to play a new game because they keep losing

Playground tactics and behaviour really

At the end of the day China Russia et el can stop the game and walk away and play a new game

But all the REAL wealth belongs to the elites of the western world, who will no doubt reset EVERYTHING and begin to build a new game excluding Russia and China who have resources to sell nobody and big city's nobody can afford along with the biggest debt bubble the world has ever seen going bang all over there streets with 1 billion pissed of people

As I said

This thread is nothing but anti west wishful thinking and fantasy

Well it must be nice to have all your faith in the western world and these greedy clowns that are running the show.

And what "cards" exactly? There is really nothing that Obama can do to Russia except slap some pointless sanctions on them that could very well backfire if the worlds number 1 energy producer (Russia) makes a deal with the worlds number one energy consumer (China) to buy/sell in something other than dollars.

Maybe your forgetting this...

Russia is world No1 energy export due to its deals with Europe

China is words number one consumer of energy because the west has exported its industry's to china

Both getting rich of western demand

Now what?

The deal just died flat on its face

So, china. And Russia don't want to play ball anymore and work amongst themselves, so will the west

The west will be vastly better off

Crack on kids keep up the delusion and wishful thinking

And? Are you saying places like India, pakistan, and many other SE asian countries won't buy Russian gas? losing the EU will not be a breaking point for Russias energy market.

China is words number one consumer of energy because the west has exported its industry's to china

And how is that supposed to change? Do you really think that China is just somehow going to ship its infrastructure back to the US?

1) So Russia is going to sell India gas now? They'll be worst hit than china... Are you aware India holds 1/3 of the worlds poor and also relies heavily on the west? .... Ok lol... NEXT

2) no of course china won't be shipping its infrastructure back to the west... china still has the infrastructure sure vast empty ghost city's nobody can afford... As for the industrial factories.. who are they going to export too? Are they going to work for even less $2 per year? All 1 billion of them?

Hardly watch the street ignite and china tear itself apart

Russia won't have a customer when nobody can afford it

Christ why is it so hard to understand, are you all REALY that delusional?

What in gods name makes any of you think the world will go on as it has should Russia China drop the dollar?

After that the world crashes and burns for a while ...

After that Russia and China are isolated from much of the world

The markets are reset, the debt is gone and Russia and China only have each other and there new currency

Who is going to fair better?

If you guys truly believe that is Russia and China then BIG lol maybe you guys haven't thought things through so much?

The REAL wealth is in the west and a new system will be built just as it was in China and Russia

Talk about the LONG GAME.....think of this......
Russia pulls the plug on the European gas.....maybe this is engineered by the banksters....so that the Syrian Pipeline becomes even more nessessary to Europe....also the Cyprus gas fields as well as Israeli undersea gas, will be in higher demand to feed Europe which has no gas.....

Europe has plenty of gas and it is a bit of a myth to suggest we're beholden to Russia to keep us warm in Winter - it was just the easiest and most readily available supply.

There are plenty of other sources, not least the nascent shale gas industry which if even allowed to only explore a fraction of the gas available will be a boom. We also have options with regards to Norwegian and Qatarii gas, not to mention the US who have huge reserves on tap thanks to fracking.

Then we have LPG, the EU is entirely self sufficient on LPG and when mixed with air, is a perfectly acceptable replacement for natural gas.

EU leaders met the other day to discuss precisely this - it is only a problem in the short term, which is what has prohibited stronger actions from Europe so far, but in the long term, we can get off Russian gas easily enough and in the process, starve them a hundred billion dollars worth of annual trade. Yes, they can make this up by trading with China, but we also wouldn't be beholden to them either.

1) So Russia is going to sell India gas now?

Why would'nt they? Here's a few of those pesky things called facts for you straight from the US energy website.

India is the fourth largest energy consumer in the world after the United States, China, and Russia.
India was the fourth largest consumer of oil and petroleum products in the world in 2011, after the United States, China, and Japan.

www.eia.gov...

As for the industrial factories.. who are they going to export too? Are they going to work for even less $2 per year? All 1 billion of them?

So you're saying a country with vast natural resources like Russia, making an economic alliance so to speak with a country with a vast labor pool like China is a good thing for the US?

Can I have some kool aid?

Well since you added so much more to your post I'll respond to this too....

What in gods name makes any of you think the world will go on as it has should Russia China drop the dollar?

What makes you so sure that other countries will not jump on the bandwagon once these two get the ball rolling? I know you probably don't want to admit this to yourself, but not too many people like the US government or US dollar these days.

Maybe it's ignorance

Maybe it's stupidity

But you're assuming the world will go on as it did after the collapse of the world economy in which depends on china buying US debt

That's the system that's how it all works right now, that is what is keeping it ALL going it is all interwoven like a dec or cards... When one goes it all goes

And when it all goes the entire world will be on fire

The cause of this will be Russia and China's refusal to play the game as they have both realised they cannot win this game and want to be number 1 superpower

The west is not going to in a million years switch to any new currency coming form Those who seek to destroy it... That is a cast iron fact, the west knows full well that doing so would mean a world under communist and socialist control

Pure and utter fantasy to think such a thing would happen

The west would wipe its debt and united under a new currency to rival china and Russia

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that would be very bad for Russia and China...

And as for India being the fourth largest consumer of energy... That will mean sweet FA in The aftermath of a global collapse

It's not hard to see that you guys are basing half your facts on this China Russia deal and china dropping the reserve currency and half your facts on the world co ruining as it has done after, is it really any wonder you're getting it so wrong?

Dropping the reserve currency will not only piss the world off but will be considered as an act of war against the western world from the East

And with all due respect back at you, I was replying specifically to a member who brought up the issue of gas and the EU, which does tie in to the overall thread topic of Russia switching to supplying China - if that does happen and the EU does find alternate supplies, then it will serve to a re-polarisation of the global power balance and a likely return to cold war attitudes of East vs West.

Not thinking this has anything to with "where the UK gets its gas from" (and I actually said the EU) is a bit narrow minded. It's all part of the same, constant geo-political game.
