A: i don't think i could, in good faith, give any credence to the "statue" claim
given that in the context of the larger image, it appears to be, what, a foot tall? absolute maximum?
a very small statue at any rate.

Well.. it would be huge for a ant perspective

I dont really thing that IF it was something artificial... the size would really matter. You know... would be artificial.

But thanks for your point of view.

it looks more like vegetation to me
The hole in the large boulder is interesting..

Have to say I am repulsed by your avatar. But I agree it does not look like a rock. Lots of kewl stuff up there.

Let's just pray they release everything..

I think, for being something personal, the avatar should please just one person. Myself.

But thanks for your imput

Who says it's a statue??? It's quite clearly a tiny martian peeking over the rocks at us.

The blurred splotches is just the heavy jpeg compression JPL seem to insist on applying.
It would be nice to see the uncompressed (or only slightly compressed) images.

To me, it looks like a vintage Japanese Bisque porcelain doll of a old man. Perhaps people on Earth, placed ornaments around hot springs on a mountain. Then a volcanic eruption on Earth blew apart that mountain (eg. Vesuvius) and sent those items out into space. In the initial seconds of that eruption, those hot springs would have acted like super-charged rockets.
