Hmm, any news on hte MiG 1.44 front? It seems to have been forgotten about, shame, looked promising indeed. I can't wait until thew Flanker replacements come out personally, won't be for a good while, but they are discussing using forward facing Berkut-style wings.

Supposedly the Mig 1.42 and Berkut were just test beds for new technologies. I think the Mig 1.42 was a test bed for either a new light weight fighter similar to the F-16 or it was to test plasma stealth. The Berkut had a cool revolver missile launcher behind the cockpit, along with high-tech fly by wire controls. The forward swept wings when done correctly supposedly makes it ultra-manuverable. By integrate all of these features into the Flanker replacements they could become some of the deadliest planes to ever fly.

Yeah, wouldn't a MiG-Sukhoi joint project be excellent? That would probably scare the hell out of everyone who doesn't have one.

Although, sadly it is unlikely. The forward facing wings really do aid manouverability, think if they used thrust vectoring too. Would the pilot be able to take the G's though? He would need a hell of alot of G tolerance to pull of the manouvers the plane would be capable of.

1.42/1.44 was a test bed?I heard China was thinking of buying some. Guess not then, lol, unless they want a test plane. Wouldn't put it past them to steal and finish the design though.
