Fred Phelps Sr., leader of Westboro Baptist Church, dies at 84

Fred Phelps Sr., a fire-and-brimstone preacher whose anti-gay picketing at military funerals inflamed the nation and drew international scorn but was protected by the U.S. Supreme Court as an exercise in free speech, died March 19 at a hospice in Topeka, Kan. He was 84.

His daughter Shirley Phelps-Roper confirmed his death to the Topeka Capital-Journal. The cause was not reported.

I only hope that at some point in our history people just mind their own business and groups like Westboro church were just in the distant past. the world is not a worse place today because the passing of this man that is for sure.

May his family find the comfort they deny to many.

Maybe all us Fire fighters ,cops, EMS and bikers should go down and protest his funeral.
Like how 2000 of us fended them off for the funerals at Sandyhook!

Perhaps Westboro, i think they were no longer affiliate to them at the end.

I've been on a little personal time here lately, for anyone wondering why I suddenly became scarce. Elmer Fudd didn't finally score a bullseye. lol...

However, a precious few things are worth a little diversion from much needed time away from bad news, bodies and how they came to be that way.

I said I'd do something when this day came..and I'm a bunny of my word. Even if timing isn't always a pillar to point to for punctuality.

I'm not proud to say it. But, there is part of me, that can't help but imagine. All the people who's funerals he protested, standing at the pearly gates, with protest signs.

Protesting his entering his final resting place. It would be fitting.

As a christian that doesn't like to see the Bible twisted and perverted by "people" claiming to be same, and yet knowing I'm supposed to take the high road on matters like this, allow me to say this:

"Be not deceived, for God is not mocked, for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap." (Gal. 6:7)

Glad I'm not in his shoes.

Seldom am I happy to see someone die. My only wish is that he died in pain, lots of it.

St. Peter: God it's that Phelps guy do you want him here in heaven?

God: Why St. Peter of course I do, let your brother in my Kingdom.

(St. Peter goes to let Mr. Phelps in the pearly gates...A minute later goes running back to God.)

I deplore this guy's message and tactics as much as anyone. However. those of you dancing on this guy's grave have just succeeded in lowering yourselves to his level. What's the difference, really, between his hate and vitriol and yours? No, you're not "justified" because you think you are superior to him. You really ought to be ashamed.

The thing is, you're next. Death plays no favorites.
