I'm with you all the way Boncho!

I switched to vaping 6 months ago, and have tried convincing several smokers to do the same. Half of them want nothing to do with it and won't even try it. So it looks like many smokers even have this knee-jerk reaction. I think a lot of people just don't trust something new when they don't understand it, and they're too lazy to look into it. Very sad.

It makes want to swing through the trees when politicians treat me (and those around me) like I'm something less than a rational, decision making, human being. Arghh!!

You need to go 'full monkey' and throw feces at the politicians.

No, really!

I just came in from outside.
I smoke when I can, vape when I don't have time to go out or when I am driving with my kids.

They need to make an e-cig that is as small as possible so that you can palm it easily and use it without the vape-Nazis being aware. Screw them!

When the first tobacco prohibitionists achieved bans from public places it was limited to bars and restaurants with the explanation that it was to protect employees from second hand smoke. Incidentally, in Boston, the city had just required the installation of huge new smoke eater machines the year before.

Had they required proper ventilation and skipped the smoke eaters and ban, we might have had a universal compromise and, perhaps, a long term solution. After all, smoke isn't the only pollutant in the air in restaurants and now that there isn't any smoke to cover the nasty stench, many don't work in or frequent those places anymore.

We all know that the original excuse was a bait and switch, now you will hear claims that the bans were implemented to protect people from hurting themselves with evil bad smoke, not to protect employees. Having established the intellectual detour, the march is on to realize this new illegitimate interpretation of the precedent set by the original anti-smoking laws. Smokers warned of the slippery slope and now we have the natural progression of the ideology, bans on soda, sugar, fat and many more to come. The stage is set for the application of personal usage data gathered by smart devices and highly accurate electrical grid surveillance to guide public policy which now includes how you live your life. No consumer behavior will be ignored.

If you accept this line of thinking then you must recognize that this activity below is deleterious to your health and must be stopped to protect against the rising cost of health insurance or some such reasoning.

Once you acknowledge that you cannot take care of yourself and are not responsible for your actions, you open yourself up to being managed by others.

Also, just as in alcohol prohibition, the more difficult and costly over the counter distribution becomes, the higher the likelihood of black market suppliers.

Interestingly, one of the largest suppliers of black market cigarettes is the ATF, I bet all of these cigarettes went to NYC.

'ATF Misplaced' 420 Million Cigarettes in Stings

As of now, 60% of all cigarettes sold in New York City are black market.

I have one of those 350 mah ego batteries and a mini davide clearo... it fits in the palm of my hand easily. You might want to look into it. It gives good hits and lasts for hours.

It's over the top red tape I know, the last place I worked at had a indoor ban on e-cigs you had to go outside to the smokers shelter.

There are so many stupid little rules and regulations these days it like being in an open prison, you can't do this you can't do that.

Now im not trying to be sexist nor do I have anything against gay's but it's women and gay's with all their complaints and moaning are preventing men to be men and to manly things without being regulated and analised, and not just with the smoking it's everything we can do and say is slowly being chipped away.

It seems to be happening in most 1st world countries.

Quit whining and just accept peoples stupidity and go outside to avoid the conflict. As much as you disagree there is a stigma towards smoking, ecig or not its bad for business when you see someone smoking inside your restaurant. so there gonna say no smoking them inside, get over it.

There is one good reason why vaping/e cigs are banned inside certain establishments. If someone who still smokes regular cigs sees someone having an ecig in a pub or restaurant or wherever then they are likely to try getting away with sparking up themselves. I'm not saying it's right but that is the reason.

Maybe a restaurant would rather have me put a big chaw of Red Man in my cheek and spit on the floor after I am finished with my dinner.
That would put the e-cigs in a better light.

Remember when Blockbuster had a chance to buy Netflix?

The big tobacco companies should jump on the bandwagon. I am just as addicted to my e-cig as I was to the real thing.

Sometimes I'd be on the bus and someone would pull out an e-cig and start smoking. I didn't really have a problem with it, (though, I thought that the vapor might contain noticeable amounts of nicotine, which OP said is false..) but it just seems tacky. In your case OP, if you're smoking at your own table at a restaurant, or in a "non-smoking area" outside, then that's cool. I only notice the people who e-smoke on buses with a lot of people or in small rooms. I'm sure it makes other people feel uneasy too, somehow.

Granted, e-cigs usually smell good, like the watermelon-flavored ones.

Technically it's vaping them inside, not smoking. And many places are cape friendly. Not only that, but the laws regarding smoking are for smoke, so they don't apply. For a business to tell you you can't, they are making the choice and have to have a policy to back it.

So...

It's ironic in any case. Businesses were reluctant to implement regulations, and once they are there, they are pushing a regulation that doesn't even apply.

Akin to banning water bottles because there might be vodka in them.

After trying several types and brands of e-cigs, 3 weeks ago I bought my first e-cig from Green Smoke. It is the only one I found that actually hits like a cigarette to me! It really is helping me to wean off of real cigarettes. I smoke 1 real one when I get up (Im still working on the e-cig satisfying that first morning crave lol), 1 or 2 during the day usually, and 1 at night before bed and after I stick the e-cig on the charger.

Overall I think I'm doing pretty well. I went from a pack a day to a pavk a wee

There are proven cases that ecigs cause pneumonia. It makes sense because you are taking a liquid into the lungs - a place that was meant for air only.
For some reason I can't stand that word "Vaping" it sounds so stupid.

Okay vaping or smoking what ever you wanna call it, were getting to technical here. If my grandmother walked into a restaurant and saw someone smoking an e cig she is going to think its smoke and assume she walked into a smoking lounge and walk right out. I think the issue here is people do not like being told what they can and can't do. I'm a smoker and I respect peoples wishes of not wanting to be around it so I go outside, if I was an e smoker it would be the same even if there is no harm in it.

China invented the damn things...

Well, there is your problem. If it would have been invented in the US, it would probably be mandatory, even for kids 5 yo and up...

lol

there was no emissions coming from the guy but all you could see every now and then was a light burning brightly... maybe they need to change the lighting on those things ?
