Now if that doesn't help with how large and how many of those blocks were needed to build those.. WOW! (Loved the tourist for size reference..lol)

Truly awesome and I'm sure you've seen these before but the tourists at Baalbek also put things into perspective.

The proton, electron, neutron pic was awesome and that tiny platy doesn't look real... I know it is... but it just doesn't, almost alien-looking.

Electron Microscope made possible by at least one of the above 3 gentlemen we spoke about.

Again... to me, it's about as alien-looking as can be.

Johnny that infamous moss piglet water bear probably is an alien mate (also known as a 'wretched beastie'
).

I have this friend that has a collection of micro-gems and most recently he started collecting bits of sand from different parts of the World.

Anyway, he sent me a link to a reddit picture of some sand under a microscope.

That photo is pretty stunning my friend - amazing (and beautiful) stuff!

Remember seeing a pretty mindblowing electron microscope image of two creatures fighting on the spacebar of a keyboard but can't seem to find it now - this link does contain some truly impressive (and disturbing) pics tho!

This is a bit of a cheat as this isn't the actual picture I want to post - the actual photo I wish I could post is currently stored in a box, somewhere in a relatives belongings.

When I was in my teens there was a spot that my father would take me to often, Gray Whale Cove, a bit north of Half Moon Bay in California.

Years later, during treatment for PTSD I was taught some relaxation and centering tricks. One was a form of self-hypnosis that involved going to my subjective "happy place" ( cliche as that is, it's true ) and this cove is that place. My mental image of the most perfect and peaceful place I could imagine.

One evening my father took a 35 mm photograph of the sun setting from the lip of the cove. He had that photo blown up into a wall print which hung on his living room wall until his passing. It was a phenomenal photo and the one I wish I could post here.

Instead the best I can do is offer another photo of the cove, one found online, for context.

Source of the photo.
