What do you think it is?

I think it's awesome!
My ex used to be a vet nurse and consequently I have our old dogs' testicles and a uterus, cats' testicles and a femoral ball in jars

Thanks for satisfying my morbid curiousity...sorry I can't identify the animal.

They look like rodents. Back feet are the give away. If you've ever fed pinkies, newborn baby mice to pet snakes, that's what they look like.

Your kitty left you a present....

I have a pet snake...it looks similar but I am still going miscarriage, the what i think is a cord for feeding looks too long and too big.
I am no expert though.

A pic to show size would help.

Oh wow, I didn't think they'd be so well formed! A long, long time ago, when I was a younger teen, my sister-in-law's cat had kittens, a full litter with one stillbirth (which is apparently not all that unusual?) She had opened the sac to get a good look at the little kitten so she could name it & bury it. My memory is foggy, but that picture doesn't look too far off from what I remember of the poor bugger.

Dimensions are hard to judge online, I can't say for sure if it's a kitten or something else. I've seen a friend's baby hamsters before, though, and if that's from a similarly sized rodent, I'd expect the babies to be very tiny. I'm absolutely no expert, though, that could indeed be mice and not kittens, or a different animal all together.

I don't think the cat brought this in.
There is too much discharge in one spot, perfectly intact embryos and no trail of blood.

I think this happened where i found it.

The cat came back and didn't even look at the pile when he walked by.

Here is a picture of a baby rabbit fetus:

Dunno if that is it or not, but I can see similarities.
Everything kind of looks the same when still a fetus though.

This vet pic of a kitten fetus also looks very, very close;

I'm thinking Linus might be a Linette?

I'm going with rabbit fetus.

I just flipped Linus over, I think I saw a tiny penis.

Also, he looked pissed that I would do this to him.

lol I was looking at that one too!

I think the key is in this picture:

Rabbit or cat?

*ponder*

Just by the head shape and face shape...I am guessing rabbit.

Also seems a logical choice as I doubt a cat would bring a dead cat to its owner.

I think this cat brought a rabbit and either it aborted right there, or the cat just brought this part home.
Either way....yucky!!

My town had a bad problem with cats and packs of feral cats. I used to work for Astro exterminating company. We got contracted by city to help destroy the insane cat population.

There is no animal shelter within a 150 mile radius anyhow and its a small 2 red light town.

So me and 2 others we bought gallons of milk and we used a powder called liquitox (you can buy it on amazon). We mixed 1 pack per gallon, we set out bowls all around the industrial park, city hall and abandoned school set for demolition.

We explained the city would have a gigantic amount of dead cats but they assured us city workers would collect the bodies as that wasn't our responsibility.

City paid us $1500, we sat out poison for 48 hours. There were dead cats everywhere, at end of week over 2000 dead cats taken to dump to be incinerated.

Afterward the city passed a super strict pet ordinance for city limits. Only 1 cat per household, must be tagged/spayed/neutered. Only 1 dog and same, any pet caught outside of yard not on leash can be picked up by animal catcher. Since town has no shelter stray animals are destroyed.

Now its not 100% enforceable, but neighbors do snitch like crazy. I hate cats but I have a guinea pig :-)

So far the ordinance covers cats and dogs only but it was desperately needed due to the stupid pet owners letting cats go outside at will, breeding like rabbits and population skyrocketed.

But if you have tons of nuisance animals, Liquitox works wonders!

Apologies Des,
You are correct. Upon further investigation I discovered small trails and drops of blood leading from the cat door, around the perimeter of the porch and to the spot where they were dropped.

Linus did bring these unborn offerings to me.

Seems like a closed case now.

Thanks!

I can tell you Finalcountdown. This was an interesting thread. It brought a segment of the ATS community together to solve a mystery, pics and all.

It ran the gamut from ewwwwww to that's it!

Thank you for a welcome break from the proliferation of missing plane threads.

So, if these are aborted fetuses, then who's and whats would they be?
reply to post by FinalCountdown

If you still have them and you are that curious....cut em open and have a peek. It's going to be exceedingly difficult to identify what species this came from, from the picture provided.

Thats what I'd do.

Would a wild animal actually have a birth on my back porch?

I doubt it. Cats are very territorial....she'd kill any animal that tried I'm sure.

so this means that Linus brought them in.

I think thats a safe assumption.

NOW WHAT?

Remain calm. Clean it up and chuck it...or get surgical and cut it open to satify your curiosity.

I agree, this was a great thread!
This reminds me of the "What kind of spider is this?!?!" threads.
A nice change from what I have been filling my head with.
A kind of gross one, but then...

I like gross things sometimes..lol
