Obamacare's cost to the individual isn't the issue. The problem is that "government" should not be allowed to control the healthcare industry.

Oh..WOW...so cost is NOT the issue? : ) Thanks, I am not living in the US (anymore)...and seeing that obviously cost is no issue...makes me naturally wonder what then all the crying is about? And excuse me for being perplexed now....

Also..your statement about government control. WHO ELSE do you think is supposed to control the healthcare industry? Greed driven corporates? YOU? Your mom? Who else but THOSE people who get paid for their job (politicians) should control this?

Private industry should always control markets in a Capitalist system. Obamacare is Socialism in play and it's a very short step to all out Communism. Has anyone here even read the Federalist Papers or the Communist Manifesto ffs!?

I could literally list dozens of reasons why the Government shouldn't control anything but how about just two?

1) It's illegal for the government (per Bill of Rights and the Constitiution) to regulate or force Americans to buy any product/service from any retailer. Period, end of debate. You wanna subsidize the next man, get the correct number of signatures and force a Constitutional Convention. Otherwise, none of your arguments are valid from jump street.
Fact is, people with opinions like yours are the exact reason the government and the acronym agencies are taking laws into their own hands. You make me sick!

2) It took that same government you love so much almost a BILLION dollars to set up the exchange website. If I have to explain any further, you're just a lost cause. Deny ignorance indeed.

Lets remember though not one penny is reimbursed until that deductible is met which most pro ACA folks conveniently leave out of their cost estimates.
Well, deductible only matters if you pay something, right?

Any estimate on what a broken leg costs without insurance? Never mind a really bad car accident or cancer treatment. That deductible don't look so bad when you look at it that way, does it?

Not sure if the ACA is the answer but you don't get reimbursed until your deductible is met with any insurance plan pre-ACA.

Very true, but you stopped short of the real issue. Under Obamacare plans the price goes up, and SO DOES THE DEDUCTIBLE! My $3500 deductible plan for $300 a month turned into a $6,000 deductible for $548 a month. But now it meets ACA requirements! Oh, joy! I get automatic pregnancy coverage and also prescription drug coverage, but please note the new deductible above. I don't actually get either one.

Healthcare sure brings out the selfish in the baby boomer generation, I've noticed. All people care about is "Me, My, Mine".

Why aren't people as outraged about the education system? That's something which should be controlled by states and municipalities. I think they're not as mad because it doesn't directly affect them.

It's terrible that Americans come onto this website, angry with Obamacare, and talk about how much worse it is for them, when America's healthcare is ranked 34th in the wolrld, right above CUBA, and as soeone mentioned earlier, other countries get it right, like the Scandinavian countries and countries with great quality & low or no cost healthcare.
How can you NOT see that America's healthcare system is a racket? Drug companies, equipment companies, they make hand over fistfuls of cash here. How can you NOT agree something needs to change? Why should the magazines baby-boomers read be rife with ADS for prescription drugs? If your doctor is worth his salt, he'll prescribe what you need without your bringing an AD IN! You are the largest marketed-to group in American history, & the most well-off. Your health is a commodity.

When it's costing you your disposable income, maybe you would get a little worried, too, especially if you are "on the brink" between being able to manage your finances well and being thrown further down the well, with the increased cost of Obamacare being the difference. And when you are discussing this issue, all you have for facts is what has happened to you, personally. You cannot speak for the other guy and what has or is happening to him. That's why people are telling their personal situations. It's really nice to hear of people getting insurance for $75 per month, or reveling in the fact that they get $1000 subsidy at someone else's expense, but that's not what is happening.

This whole thread started with: "MY Obamacare quote is not insane!" And that surely fits your definition of "Me! Me! Me!" But, you see, although OP's reveling in how good he has it, many other people are pointing out how theirs IS insane, and that's the major issue. Why would you accuse them of thinking all about themselves and ignore the OP thinking only about himself?

That's why this discussion is important. Real world examples show how this system is really being implemented. For every person in the Obamacare sweet spot who is "satisfied" because they are getting subsidized at others' expense, there are people out there who are facing large increases, such as myself, with a negative benefit, i.e.: Worse coverage. If YOU were enduring that, my guess is you wouldn't be saying this was for the good of the country and staying silent. YOU would be pointing out the same sort of disparities.

It should be obvious to you by now that Obamacare has nothing to do with helping the really poor. They aren't covered regardless, and if they don't have Medicaid, which is a welfare program, they are SOL. And this is not a Robin Hood program. It doesn't take from the rich and give to the poor. The rich, being adequately insured with Cadillac plans anyway, are unaffected. What this does is TAKE from plumbers and teachers, who actually support themselves without assistance, and GIVE to retail workers, who make marginally less than they do. That's Obamacare on a nutshell. Both groups actually work for a living.

And that's the shame of it. You have the truly rich who are getting off scott free, the truly poor, who continue to get nothing, and two groups in the middle, one of which takes the burden, and the other freely takes the largesse, then complains about those actually paying for it, claiming they are selfish.

I, mostly, agree with having less government interference. However, the healthcare system we had before obamacare wasn't working. Not saying obamacare has fixed it, but something had to change. Then look at other nations like canada, and japan. Their healthcare systems are working just fine, and they're free.

Who says it wasn't working?

I read that most Americans were happy with the health insurance they had. It ws the white house that used the system of " creating a problem, getting a reaction then coming up with a preconceived solution" to make it look falsy like Americans were not happy with health care hence it " had' to be fixed..

There are all kinds of polls out there that show this.. the whole thing is a scam.

I can add to this. My daughter who is 26 has been looking for work for the past 4 months. She signed up for Obama care since she could no longer be on our insurance after reaching the age of 26. She received a quote at $75.00 per month. Which surprised me! Only thing is, it's short lived because she just found a new job with health care benefits.

UPDATE: After posting this, my daughter stopped over and I thought about asking if she was going to drop the Obama Care insurance since she was getting health benefits from her new job. She surprised me again and said heck no, the Obama insurance is better than the policy she's getting from her new job! I said really? She said her job's health insurance charges 100 dollars for emergency room visits where the Obama plan, is much less or nothing...I don't recall exactly what she said.

So in my daughter's case, Obama Care insurance is a lot cheaper. Keep in mind, she's only 26, so I don't know how much it would cost her if she was in her mid 40's.

Nativezero--

Should we wonder who is paying for your tax credit?
This is what I don't get on here.

Drama queens posting " I don't want to have to pay for the healthcare of others!!!"

"My premiums will be insanely high!"...no, it will go up if you're doing pretty well for yourself enough that it wouldn't affect the way you live anyway.

Are you guys even aware that when you are on an insurance policy, you are paying for others? That's the damn principle behind it all.

Wikipedia

Principles

Insurance involves pooling funds from many insured entities (known as exposures) to pay for the losses that some may incur.

Then these same hypocrites turn around and rave & praise stories/videos of good Samaritans.

This is the reason there are also the not so tactful people who are quick to claim these naysayers are either just towing the party line or are simply...???.

Give obamacare a chance and let it evolve into the universal healthcare system people want.

Do you know who really the baby boomers are? do you know why the government is soo worry about their retirement? you know why? because the baby boomers are the last generation that worked all their live during a time when America was prosperous, they paid the SS, medicare, Medicaid, retirement accounts, and the most on taxes so the welfare system could support the new generation after them that will never know was it was to belong to the productive middle class in the nation, once this groups retired the government will lose the taxes generated from them.

The government is afraid very afraid because without this income earners is going to be less taxable income to keep supporting the welfare system and the entitlement programs.

After working all their lives and paying into the system the baby boomers have earned their retirement, but for the government they will become a burden.

After all somebody needs to keep feeding the welfare system.
