I think the Ukrainians know that Crimea is lost to them.
It is as simple as that I think.

No need to fire shots because there is no point.
Give it to the Russians and hope it appeases them, what else can they do?
Not a damn thing without losing all of the Ukraine,
so it is a pretty smart move I think.
Not only that but the way things seemed to work out, it would of been brother against brother the way I understand it.
Something like that would/could cause a civil war and the Ukraine would suffer a lot worse in that case.

Cool heads are keeping the peace so far.

Well, since you are obviously very angry and strong in support of dealing with bullies, you should immediately book a flight and sign up to Ukrainian army (be warned, Svoboda do not like non-pure Ukranians). I do believe the US / EU will pay you 50 USD a day riot fees.

That is an idea I have been toying around with in my head as well, that there is a much bigger picture brewing and this all seems to well orchestrated. There was almost no shots fired, and very little if almost any resistance. A very swift passing of Gov and it all just seemed to easy...

It doesn't seem right.

Why should the Crimeans be forced to follow the rules of a government that they don't agree with? What if the vote turned out to be 51% West UK vs 49% Crimeans? Should the 49% be forced to follow the rules of the 51%? The fact of the matter is, most people don't care about the government to begin with. The government exists only to serve them economically, and rightfully so. If they could take their land and homes with them and secede, they would do so. In this case, it just so happens that the Crimeans are right next to Russia, in which case, they have a right to side with whoever they choose.

Here's another thing, suppose the vote is 49% vs 51%, would the Western UK agree to join Russia? After all, if the Crimeans are forced to remain part of the UK(essentially joining the West) because only slightly more than half agreed, then the Western UK should be forced to join Russia, if they lose, it's only fair no?

This is East Ukraine some days ago.

Say no to war!

Are the citizens russians or ukrainians? One of them asks an ukrainian solider: why we can take photos with russian soliders and why you angry in the same situation?

Do you believe that the ukrainian people are blind? They want better life, not pro-western oligarchs instead of pro-russian ones, and don't want to fight for banksters. But the "new democratic" nazis dont ask them about it, they are just busy robbing out the rest of the country.

Look we all know Putin is going to take an opportunity to expand if he sees it, he remembers the glory days - but 40 Billion dollars Putin, how much do you need?

But can we really be so quick to blame Russia for these alleged shootings? Especially when the stakes are so high?

Deviant would like to point the finger immediately, although I am sure he would understand how little we really know what's happening over there.

And with the doctors from the Maidan reporting the same bullets used for all the wounds on each side - and the snipers in the car boot, we can assume someone is not playing fair.

And with all of what we know, who is likely to use these tactics?

The answer is both probably, but that 5 Billion Dollars went somewhere!

Just to clarify,

We know for a fact this whole mess was initiated by the US and to I assume a lesser extent the EU.

We know this from the Victoria Nuland (I find her surname very appropriate!) phone call.

So knowing all this, we can't very well state the time for diplomacy has ended,

The 17 year old boy is from Lviv (Western Ukraine, the nest of Right Sector) with expensive sniper rifle...
