Thanks for those links. They look like a lot of great info as well.

I will need some time to go through the information there.

Well, it looks like this story has officially gone viral as of this afternoon.

I didn't make my point clearly (rushed posts from work). But you made it for me, and I thank you. They actually don't have any more or less evidence than I do.

Regardless, the scenario presented in the OP, given the known information is FAR more probable than the scenarios you've described. Just because evidence is lacking to definitively say what happened, doesn't mean we cannot rule out certain scenarios as highly unlikely or weigh others as highly likely. For instance, I think it is a safe bet that the following didn't happen: Satan appeared above the plane mad at something or the other and killed all the passengers and crew, then altered the flight trajectory afterwards.

I'd like to lean on the scenario presented in the OP before leaning on any other scenario. It is the most probable and doesn't damn any of the people on the plane as complicit to a sinister end. Present some evidence that actually contradicts the scenario in the OP and I'll alter Murphey's Law to comply with the new evidence.

The only mystery here is why you would think a meteor strike or a weapon attack is somehow equivalent to the scenario presented here. If you seriously think I made your point for you I would submit you are delusional. Your two theories have no basis in reality whatsoever: None. Not only do you have no facts to back up such scenarios, you have no plausible explanation for how they could happen. You don't have a weapon, nor a reason to use it, nor do either of your scenarios explain why the plane could keep flying for 7 hours after such an event. Further, neither scenario explains why the plane intentionally turned west in line with the nearest capable airport.

On the other hand, the scenario presented here is at least plausible AND it fits the few facts we do know for certain. We do know that the left turn and course were programmed into the plane's flight recorder and that this new course was directly in line with a serviceable airport for a 777. We do know that a pilot had to have done that. We do know that the plane flew that changed course for some length of time. We do know that the ACRS system and the transponder were off.

The beauty of this scenario is that you don't need ANY of the far-fetched scenarios conjured up here out of thin air. You don't have to speculate that a UFO commandeered the plane. You don't need to invoke "terrorist hijackers" taking over the plane. You don't need a "pilot suicide" scenario. You don't need an "angry pilot" upset over local politics so he decided to crash an airliner full of Chinese citizens scenario. And you certainly don't need either a meteor strike or someone attacking the airplane with an unknown weapon for an unknown reason which was a failure because it succeeded in downing the airplane.

In short, you don't need to stretch and strain. You don't need to make up stuff. All you need is a normal flight with an experienced professional crew who encountered an on-board emergency and attempted to get to the nearest airport that could handle a heavily burdened 777 on its runway, which is exactly what they were trained and expected to do. That's all. This accounts for the fact that the new course was programmed into the flight computer. It accounts for the turn westward and the new course heading. No mystery, really.

So what reason did it go to Diego?

To be clear, I am NOT saying that flight 370 went to Diego Garcia. I have no idea what happened to flight 370, or why.

But the theory in this thread indicates flight 370 might have passed over the Maldives. And residents in the Maldives reported seeing a low flying plane at approximately the right time and allegedly matching the description of flight 370. But if it was flight 370, the reported direction means it turned sharply again and was headed in a direction that would take it toward Diego Garcia. And this news came out very recently:

The Berita Harian is reporting that five runways were programmed into Captain Zaharie Shah's homemade flight simulator that was taken by police for analysis last Saturday.

... "Among the software we checked so far is the Male International Airport in Maldives, three airports in India and Sri Lanka, and one belonging to the US military base in Diego Garcia. All have a runway length of 1,000 metres," a source told the Malay daily.

SOURCE

I would prefer that the theory in this thread turns out to be correct. But if it's not, and IF flight 370 did go to the US military base in Diego Garcia, I can't think of many reasons besides attempted terrorist attack or black op hijacking. We would have heard if it had made an emergency landing there.

They're not working with any more information than anyone else is. Pilots or not. Their theories are just slighlty...simpler.

As a private pilot of nine years I would agree. Im just as miffed as any of you.

However commericial pilots know VOLUMES more knowledge and experience than I. So I will listen to THOSE pilots opinions above the keyboard warriors.

I'm not a keyboard warrior. Hardly. They appear to be getting their information in the same place everyone else is, and that information is conflicting, contradictory, and shifts direction on a dime. All we have is theories...simple or not, from actual pilots or not. No one can say what really happened and no one can just freaking say, "We don't know."

Plane caught fire. Pilots turned to head toward land and draw attention to the plane. Who misses a >90* turn off course the East that's who. Pilots change altitude to put out fires. Who misses a 777 at 46k' the East does. No one responded to the plane to guide it to an airstrip and it crashed. Case closed welcome to the 21st century where we lose thousands of pounds of tops of the line tech right under our noses.

i posted this on another page but think it has merit...

what if...... this plane was stolen in mid air by a tractor beam from a covert US craft, as a show of power to the Russia and China over Crimea?

www.bbc.co.uk...

this is why no one can find it, and russia or china cant say about it without risking telling the world about their crafts......

wow, did i just solve this and tell the world about these craft......

if i commit suicide in the next week, i am not suicidal!!!!

hahahahaha it was on another thread about this plane,

what i dont get, is that whole region is on the brink of major issues, and no one watches a plane on their military radar.... of course they did, the question is not what happened to this plane, but why no one is saying were it is.......

that is the real question. (and thus the UFO theory) (even though i know its a loooooonnngggggg shot)!

but all joking apart, i hope they find it, everyone wants disclosure if this plane is never found... then what?

I was getting sick of reading about how aliens took the plane or how some people thought there was no plane to begin with. Nonsense. Its at the bottom of the ocean. Which one? Only time will tell.

A plane that crash into the ocean leaves debris.. floating debris!! I know that all the steel or whatever metallic piece will stall at the bottom, but there's a lot of material that won't!! that will leave evidence that the plane had crashed into the ocean!!

Sick of the Alien theory?? I do believe there was a plane, but the OP is not THE best theory for me.. I will not make the same mistake twice by posting my theory here to not deviate from the original thread, but I'll give you the link of it so you can read it. many information seems unclear at first sight, but all you have to do is read the post below, someone asked me to elaborate. I did!!

Everything for a great setted-up plan is there, the motive, the plan, the timing, and everything else for a great theory. not just a bunch of speculation about aliens or a 'wormhole' (wich is also possible considering we don't know anything)

so read it and tell me (not here, but in the thread I sent you to) what you think about it!!

This is for you too. Go read my theory you'll see at least one (wich seems very good) reason to the implication of the US government!!

A tractor beam! Hey! That's certainly as good as a meteor strike or a secret weapon that failed when it downed the aircraft!

If they just wanted to wreck it they didnt need the extended range plane or the alternate coordinates. This is something else.

This was a plane to either hijack and land ot crash intentionally into something or place. That is what all evidence points to.

I'm sorry but as soon as you start talking about "cloaking devices" "wormholes" and heavens forbid "stargates" I know immediately and instinctively that you watch far too much TV and have no idea what you are talking about.

The fact you can't distiguish between Star trek and real life immediately disqualifies anything you have to say on any subject.

Live long and prosper - nanoo nanoo.

Man, reading the theories that popped up in this thread since the last time I posted, they are getting crazier and crazier. It's almost like reading the many hokey theories about what "really" happened on 9/11. Lasers, fake airplanes, holograms. Now with this plane, we have tractor beams, aliens (this one was a given eventually anyways), super secret stealth planes from the US government. Some of you guys should become science fiction writers with your imaginations.

In other words, according to the startlingly simple theory, when confronted with the knowledge that the plane made a sharp left and communications were lost, investigators never thought about the possibility that the plane was in trouble and might have headed for the nearest airport? It's startling alright. And suspicious, too.

Couple this theory with today's news that the Royal Thai Air Force Saw the plane on radar in the Malacca Strait area heading for Butterworth -- just 71 miles from Pulau Langkawi -- but neglected to say anything because "no one asked them." Forgive me if I roll my eyes at this garbage. It feels coordinated and I have little doubt that it is.

*cough* bullsh*t cover up *cough*
