A stunt indeed but here is what I do believe the japanese have. Robotech devices. I mean they have been drawing these Robot /Anime cartoons since the 80's and not just one studio. You have GunDam, Macross/Robotech, Guyver, blah blah... There must have been some reference. It can't be possible that one guy just said "hey, let's animate some robots with military capabilities." I bet the city of tokyo is one fortress that transforms. HEHE =)
