Canadian - Cheaper, but you get what you pay for, pretty poor!!

You have no idea what you're talking about. In my 54 years living in Canada...I have recieved the best medical care available just about anywhere. I have never had sub standard treatment....EVER. Where do you folks come up with this stuff?

Canadian Healthcare is pretty average at best and their price of medication makes up for cheaper healthcare.

Our meds are most certainly cheaper...so much so that bus tours are organized in the US, so seniors can come up to Canada for the day and pick up their prescriptions.

My Canadian healthcare, has seen to it that I have lived 54 years...healthy, happy....and not broke because I got sick. I have never had to worry about a loved one dying because they can't afford the care. I have never had a problem getting the procedure I needed. I have been able to see a specialist when I desired.

Though Canadian healthcare is far from perfect....I'd take it any day over the US healthcare system.

The fact is that neither Canada or the US is in the top 25 nations based on healthcare. Both countries still have some work to do if they wish to make a better system for all....not just those with the money for it.

I can't seem to find where being "civilized" means tax payers fund crap for others.

Is it possible in "Rules for Radicals"??

No, because it also is a forced cost to my neighbor.

I take responsibility for my own life. I don't rely on my neighbor to do so.

The topic here is health care and the issue coming out of the Canadian doctor and American senator going at it. If you want to start a thread about the difference between Canadian and American firearms regulations, you can always start another thread.

Can't you?

Look after number one and everyone else less fortunate can suffer then.

The self proclaimed greatest nation on Earth eh? Wow.

You know what, I don't mind helping to chip in to save a life or make it better for people who are less fortunate than myself. To me, that's what makes us civilised. Doing things to help and support others. Life can be hard and I guess in the US you don't always have the option or ability to put money aside for healthcare. All depends on your circumstances, health and fortune in life. You have been able to make provision for yourself, lucky for you. Others are obviously not in your position, for probably many complex reasons and some out of their control.

So while you see your opinions as being self sufficient, I see them as looking after number one and to hell with the rest of your common man.

Fund crap for others? What, 'crap' like medication, specialists and surgery to keep people healthy?

Yeah, we with our great, cheap, universal healthcare really do have our priorities in life mixed up don't we.. Who would possibly want our system..? Oh yeah, practically everyone else in the world except for some strangely paranoid people who think the Govt is out to get you at every turn....

When they say Jump for your health services, you better ask how high.
reply to post by macman

FYI...in 54 years using the Canadian healthcare system I have not ever been asked to jump for my healthcare. Not even so much as few bars of the Hokey Pokey.

I pay for this service through MY taxes. I pay those taxes to MY government. I don't feel I'm being robbed at all. I pay it gladly. It makes me feel good to know that my neighbor will get the same treatment as I do if he is sick or hurt....regardless of his ability to pay. That's the value that we put on our people's lives. I don't care if my taxes are used to save someone elses life.

In Canada....the question "Am I my brothers keeper?"....can be answered....YES.

I help people all the time if they have a question I will help them through it but I don't believe in handouts.
If your hungry I will teach you how to garden, fish, hunt but I will not hand out more money, if the people can't get by with the tax dollars that has already been taken from me then that is their problem.

This conversation has wandered off the reservation.

I wish you all the best of health and truly wish you a prosperous future, whatever your feelings on healthcare.

I'm with you on that.

Happy in Canuckistan where peace of mind is normal until Hockey Night in Canada. At least when somebody gets their skull rocked by a heavy check into the boards, they're covered by every working Canadian.

Outa here

And you are the poorer person for it.

I think we will have to agree to disagree. You have your view, we, and by 'we' I mean millions of other people very, very happy with our healthcare and compassionate system have our view. Thankfully. But good luck with your outlook on life. Sounds great..

I think I will follow you guys out of here.. I will buy the beers

One last thing before I go, you do realise that with your view you end up paying FAR more than I do? If only you thought more like us, looking after each other. You would not only have a fairer system, but it would actually cost each person less.

But no, you keep on with your beliefs, they seem to be working out just brilliantly for you over there...
