Wow! While taking my shower this morning I realized that I didn't fear death, but rather the process of it. I thought about writing a thread upon it but then stumbled across yours. S&F I does give one pause to think about.

My son had an nde when he was very ill. He was given a choice outside his body, with the night time turned to day, with kind of super aware senses, and he knew he wanted to stay and help. When he returned to his body and opened his eyes, he was completely healed, and healthy. And hasn't gotten as sick since. He had spent a good portion, nearly half of every year sick for a few years there with a number of tests that revealed nothing. He was made well.

Once a person has an astral/out of body experience they no longer fear death. It's cool to know we are more than these bodies we reside in. I see them as an avatar, a way to interact with this reality no more.

NDE is more of a dream. Since its activating the rem part of the brain,
protecting itself from damage.

Its like a lucid dream for example.

Once you enter NDE, its like a lucid dream. Any of your desires/fears
will come true within this dream state. Once you enter
early, your brain will absorb all the info thats happening outside
the body, you can hear all the Drs, etc happening around you.
If you want you can even pop out of your body and 'assume'
what you are observing. This is a easy experiment
to perform with Sleep paralysis.

This is why a lot of nde experience the same thing, they
believe they are dying, once in this dream,
this is where the imagination takes place.
So If i lucid dream as usual, I can dream up
heaven with angels, or hell with demons, can
slaught them all for the fun of it
.
It is nice and peaceful.

So once the brain finally shuts down.
My guess, I dont know what happens
next? Nothingness perhaps? No one
knows. I wouldnt rely on religion.

I wish people would actually test NDE
like roll a DICE in a another room. Once
patient goes under, go look in other
room and see what it is...... This
would be the more scientific
approach. I tried with sleep paralysis
and fail, since our brains will
make up false data..

As for 3rd eye nonsense, all
it really is , the visual eye which people
can use freely in dream mode. Very interesting
and fun to use. You can sharpen this skill
through a art class for example.

I've been fiddling around with lucid dreaming
and sleep paralysis, for some time now.
Its interesting all these sounds and vibrations,
on how the human body and brain work.
Took me a while wondering why NDE sounds
soooo similar to lucid dreaming during REM stages
of sleep, this is where the INCREASED lively vividness
occurs. Sad how some people try to make a quick $$$
buck off the believers, so they can add some weight
to their religion.

Astral is same as lucid. You are just taking shortcut
through awareness and sleep para. Just a dream.
Nothing more.

Perhaps, in my experience... You were in fact meditating rather than having a nap!!!
I often find the best way to begin meditation personally is to lay on my left side with my head tilting left & upwards!!!
Taking position as if to sleep, rather than Legs folded, upright like Buddha, I myself find that more difficult!
I'm not sure if Science can elaborate or confirm this but I get a strong feeling the veins in the neck send more oxygen to a certain part of the brain depending on which way we face!!!

As for your OP... that's fascinating to hear!
More importantly I hope all is going well with the Addison's!!!

I had a NDE when I was about 4 years old... Choking on a grape, an ironically exotic experience.

However what I recall of it I could see the gentleman who shoving his fingers down my throat to remove the grape as if standing facing myself!!!

I also have Undifferentiated Schizophrenia...
Which long story short consists of seperate symptoms from the more common types (Paranoid S. Disorganised S. Catatonic S. etc)!!!
The main symptoms I have are Auditory Hallucinations ie Seeing & Hearing things that are"n't" there.

Had this since I was about 4 also, however I cannot remember if it started before or after my NDE!

Apologies I digress...
Nowadays I'm likely to OBE a couple of times a day like yourself...
And as you've said it's a wonderful experience, very spiritual vibe & depending on what you see in the Astral Plane almost a Nirvana moment!

Again in my experience... It enables us to see Past, Present or Future events!!!
Now as someone who has OBEs you may be able to relate to the next part...

Have you ever attempted AP only to be "blocked"?
Maybe instantly, maybe the "connection" cuts after a couple of seconds?

As a spiritual person, I tend to believe this is Good & Bad!!!
eg If you AP to try & contact somebody who passed over... Heaven may block this to stop wandering Souls!!!
This is after all a connection of Mind, Body & Soul!!!

However sometimes you may be trying to AP into something like a Satanic meeting between suspected Bohemian Grove members!!!
The Evil Dead will also "block" our visions of what we might see!!!

I went with extreme examples... I feel if it's mundane or not so important but still being blocked, that's usually the Evil Dead indulging in the Deadly Sin of Envy!!!

Abit long winded, but hopefully I made some sense in this Essay of a post!!!

Stay Bless!

Peace Jenny!

I've only had a very minor experience of leaving my body, however I've been curious about it all for years.

One thing I want to say is that a common mistake many people make is believing it's their soul that 'dies' and leaves their body, whether at their actual time of physical death or during an OBE or NDE, but it's not. It's your spirit body, which some people call the astral body. As you probably know, we all always have a spiritual body closely associated with our physical body, it housing our consciousness and other non-physical attributes. And some people such as yourself, have the ability to move seemingly into and out of their spirit body almost at will, whereas most of us can't. However its not really moving into your spirit body, for we're actually always living in it, so it's more that you separate your spirit body from your physical one and at the same time refocus your conscious awareness through your spirit body. And when we all die, then we simply drop the physical becoming consciously aware in our spirit bodies, living in them in the spirit worlds. You should be able to see and even touch your spirit body when you're focused in it - living in it - during your OBE.

And when you OBE, the vibration that sets up is the dissociating process, the wind noise so I've read being the blood actually rushing through your arteries in your head. And when the vibration is right, you obviously have to ability to move your consciousness from being focused in the physical to the spiritual, as the spirit body separates from how it usually is with the physical. So when you were standing by your husband - I think you said, you were standing there in your spirit body as if you were a spirit who had died and was living now in its spirit life. The only difference being, as you have obviously not as yet have died, so you would still have your astral cord attaching your physical to your spiritual body, which will be severed by the 'Angels of Death' - your angelic guides - when your actual time of physical death occurs.

We have a soul, which then creates our spirit and physical bodies, and all the emotional, mental and interconnecting subtle bodies that make up what's commonly called our aura. The soul never goes anywhere, it can't, it exists in an entirely different realm than where our spirit and physical bodies exist. Our soul is existential, whereas our spirit and physical bodies are experiential - meaning, we have experiences of ourselves and each other in them. So we have our soul overseeing our whole physical existence, and then it oversees our whole spiritual existence. And it does so without going anywhere as it has nowhere it can go. It's not bound by time and space as we are in our physical and spirit bodies in Creation.

So really there is no difference in an OBE or NDE, just two different ways to 'leave' your physical and be focused in your spirit body. With an astral trip merely being you out and about in your spirit form. And once in your spirit body, have you then willed yourself around - say decided to go and see what a friend might be doing? However you'd best organise this ahead of time or else if you just 'dropped in' it might be considered an invasion of privacy. Also, should you be interested in furthering your spiritual understanding of it all, when you're 'out' you could ask for a spirit guide to come and be with you and help you understand it all. You will always have spirit guides with you, however they will most likely remain unseen unless your soul deems otherwise, or until you ask for them to accompany you. And your spirit guides are just people you don't know, but who were once themselves on Earth and are now living in the spirit worlds; or even possibly family, friends or relations who've died and are assigned to assist you over there.

Another difficulty people have who do it is often misunderstanding the set up of all the different levels in the spirit worlds. This leading to so much information that all seems so different and disconnected. When you're standing next to your husband, you're in one of the two Earth planes that are attached to first mansion world in which we humans are free to exist in, either as spirits or as OBE's and NDE's. So it's being in these planes that you can freely visit anywhere on Earth. If you were to visit 'another world', then depending on your soul development, you'd most likely be taken to sectors in the lower planes of the first mansion world - each of the seven mansion worlds having seven primary planes associated with them, which are then themselves further divided up into many sub-planes, all full of different sectors. Also it's within the lower first mansion world planes that what are commonly called the 'hells', exist, however should you wish to visit them, it would probably be advisable to go with a spirit guide to such places.

Also if you're ever 'out and about' and you suddenly feel scared and lost, all you have to do is think about being back in your body, and imagine moving your fingers, hands, arm etc, and that should bring you immediately back.

Also many people so I've read fear being 'attacked' by evil entities, however such things are really only a manifestation of their own fears, which they'd best work through and understand before they leave their bodies. But really there are Spiritual Laws protecting people such as yourself who have the OBE ability, and no real harm can actually come to you from another 'bad' spirit. Any harm would simply be self-imposed even though it might appear to come from a malevolent spirit.

I wish you all the best with your experiences.

How real? Do you still feel your muscles contracting, feel the weight of your body and the surfaces you come in contact with? Does the act of "getting out" of your body feel like effort or something else?
Because I'm getting close, but I'm always so sure that if it feels TOO real that I'll wake up during my attempt only to find that I've actually just gotten out of bed or sat up in reality. So I just lay there wondering what I could do next in the limited amount of time between the vibrations and falling asleep...and then I end up falling asleep anyway ha.

Thank you for posting this it is a very interesting read.

I have had my own personal experience with NDE but mine had caused me to believe that there wasn't a life after death.

I was in labour and after 16 hours things were going downhill. I was hooked up to the gas (nitrous oxide?) and suddenly came out of my body. I was floating above the room looking down at myself, my husband and midwife on the maternity suites bathroom floor. I could hear everything they were saying but everything seemed to happen in slow motion. I started to experience my own birth and I could see my mum birthing me and then her mum birthing her (strange hallucinations I know) I suddenly flew through a dark tunnel with a small light at the other end. I was going so fast hearing a voice say "go into the light"

Then all of a sudden I felt like i had fallen and then had woken up and returned to the maternity suite floor. I was completely lucid and remember a wave of emotions coming over me that I had just experienced a kind of religious experience.

But the thing that really caused me to question it all was that I wasn't dying- at least I don't think I was. I was really depressed for a long time afterwards because I felt that it was all just a hallucination and perhaps it is only a hallucination that people naturally go through when they die - nothing more

I'm hoping someone with more knowledge of NDEs can better respond to you. I couldn't read your post without responding, though, because your heartache over your experience is so evident. I wish I could reach through the screen and give you a hug.

I'm glad that you survived the experience, but sorry that it sounds like you had pretty serious depression as a result. I had a difficult birth with my first (no NDE, though) and struggled with some post-partum depression afterward. It is evidently common to go through a period of depression after a traumatic birth -not just because of the typical reasons (hormonal) women have PPD, but also just for the difficult experience. I can imagine with your NDE revelations, the feelings were compounded tremendously.

What I do want to offer is that your NDE, which you fear was simply a hallucination, may have been the real deal. This is where I hope someone with more knowledge can come along and add to this... but I remember reading that some people experience NDEs without dying, and sometimes without even being in any particular danger.

You could have had a hallucination combined with a genuine OBE/NDE. I guess I would encourage you to read as much about NDEs and OBEs as you can before writing off your experience as "merely" a hallucination. I also want to caution you (and I'm sure you already know this) that even if you ultimately decide your NDE was nothing more than a hallucination, that doesn't mean all NDEs are hallucinations. If you are spiritual, pray for guidance on how to process the experience. Don't be afraid to ask others for help in understanding it, but be careful and guarded in whose advice you trust and take to heart (myself included!). Try to keep an open mind and just see where your research and prayer take you.

Thanks for sharing your experience and for being so honest.

I wish there would be more research done as well. I foud this article on a study done on dying rats:

Just after the rats' hearts stopped, there was a burst of brain activity. Their brain suddenly seemed to go into overdrive, showing all the hallmarks not only of consciousness but a kind of hyperconsciousness.

Thank you ao much for your kind words, made me tear up. You're awesome!

The experience was life changing and made a much more spiritual. Before the NDE I was not sure what was after life, now I know there is so much more.

Wow this is an amazing thread. I have never talked to anyone that has had a NDE and knows how to astral project. It is awesome to have confirmation from someone that death and the obe state of consciousness are the same.

I found this website about 11 years ago and heard of astral projection through here. Well it sparked my interest and I read everything i could about it.

Now I can almost have an OBE at will. I would say once or twice a week i could astral project. It happens the same way you describe it as well. My astral body starts vibrating, i hear a high pitched sound, I increase the vibrations and the sound and then my soul pops out. It literally feels like my soul pops out of my body. From this point anything is possible. you can literally do anything you can imagine. I usually fly around to start. Lately I've been trying more things like transforming into a bird, creating energy orbs in my hands and eating them, i've imagined a skateboard mega ramp and had a session on it, teleporting, telepathy, mind control on other people, i've became mario and played super mario galaxy the video game as mario, i've flown to space and played on an astral playground. Bassically what i am saying is anything in this realm is possible if you can think it.

What i have come to realize is that is the natural state of consciousness. This human physical reality is a denser reality than the "dream" world. Our physical reality works on the same principals our "dream" state of mind. However this physical reality is more dense which makes it much harder manifest reality. it happens at a much slower rate than in the light realms.

The human experience is basically a school to teach you how to focus your mind to become a very powerful creator in the light realms when you die. The basic goal is to learn how to control your consciousness to point where you literally become a god. With a thought you can create a physical reality as dense and real as the one i am typing this you in.

Now i am learning to project my consciousness while awake. To be have an OBE while standing on my feet. When you learn to expand your consciousness past your body things like telepathy, telekinesis, atmoskinesis, become possible. you can literally feel the world past your body and learn to influence it with a thought.

I realize most people won't believe what i am saying. Keep an open mind and experience it for yourself. you know astral projection is real, try doing it while your awake, get the same feeling standing on your feet fully conscious.
This is why the ancients said we are all one, this is what the "elite" do not want you to know. This is why the ancient Egyptians said we have 360 senses, this is the big secret.

I'll leave you with a video from a guy named michael grubb. this and much more are possible when you learn to astral project when you are awake.

Its kind of like a very vivd dream that feels very real. Don't psche yourself out, you can do it!

When SP happens, thats when I can get out. This has been a learning process over years of practicing and at first I felt much the same as you, worried to wake up or scared of all the noise. Once the SP and vibrations hit, tell yourself this is it and try sitting up or rolling out. It will feel very real but you know its not, if that makes sense.

Also meditation, reading about OBE and thinking about OBE will help it to happen.

Thanks for sharing your story too. That must have been so scary at 4 years old.

Intereting point on the neck, I find that I am most able to AP when I lay on my right side.

There have been times where I was only able to AP for only a few seconds. Also when it first started happening, everytime I tried to leave my house I would wake up. I guess I wasn'nt ready for that then because now I go outside no problem.

I have also noticed that if my eyes are pressed on the pillow (kind of pushed closed) I can not see during AP. Its odd.

No problem

Honestly, I can't remember the incident...
Growing up I would see the image flash my Mind's Eye... Like Intrusive Imagery (Usually a symptom of PTSD)!!!
I never knew what I was seeing, I'd always wonder to myself, then my Mum recalled the story a few years down the line!
Today, here at ATS is the only time I've shared my side!

I feel this too about Neck positioning, to allow for better blood flow, if it's actually linked is beyond me!

Eyes in the pillow eh... face down, or with the pillow above your head???
I'd say I've never managed AP on my stomach personally!

Again personally, in darker conditions, my Mind's Eye finds it more difficult to AP...
But I do see shapes...
In a Greenish colour!
Wormhole shapes and balls in different directions of the Wormhole in the same Greenish colour...
It almost seems like travelling through Stars!!!

Even more so, with much more focus on the Green glow on the Black background...
Zooming in with the same focus as attempting an OBE, I see Binary Code scrolling downwards rapidly!!!

Our Brains have been likened to advanced Computers... the basis of this Tech is the Binary (0110001 etc)!!!

Sorry to digress again!
Stay Bless!

Peace J!

your experiences sound a lot like mine. For me I pretty much only leave my body when I'm on my back. ill send waves of energy through my body to paralyze it. It kinda feels like flexing different parts of your brain. Once my body is paralyzed i can just pop out. And yes it feels very physical, almost exactly like physical reality.

They reported same experiences as NDE/dream. Theres more tests I forgot about.
