It really comes down to understanding what the father really believed the situation was at the time, did he really believe this was a stranger intruder reaching for weapon or did he suspect otherwise daughter making story to cover boyfriend in her room. Its for the court jury to decide.

Daughter is accessory to murder

Father responsible for her actions if minor

How old is she?

not in my opinion…sounds like the Dad didn't have control. She will live with the torment of knowing that her lame attempt at a lie contributed to the death of her boyfriend.

There is a paucity of info in the linked article, but from that alone, i see no info to say that it looked like the daughter was actually in danger (despite her statement that she did not know him), and perhaps daddy was a bit too ready to open fire... but there is so little info for us to work on, re the state of the two youngsters (ie signs of a struggle, distress, injury etc from a possible sexual assault), a warning to the young man after he reached for something.... such as his jacket, pants etc - not just a weapon.

So little to work on here though. Any other sources?

Its a tragedy,

Put yourself in the fathers shoes, Strange man, daughters bedroom, she claim ignorance.

Father reacts as fathers are tend to, who wouldn't in defense of their daughter.

NOW the Daughter on the other hand, should defiantly face some culpability, not murder, but perhaps manslaughter chargers as her purposeful deceit to misidentify the man lead to a death.

1. It is probably going before a Grand Jury.

2. This happened in Texas.

Because it happened in Texas, dad will not be punished as he reacted in what could be construed as "self defense" against an intruder in his house.

The daughter is a minor. She did lie, but it remains to be seen whether or not she knew that her father would shoot the young man. However, because she acted like a hoe, and then lied about it, I expect some kind of charges to be filed against her. The charges may not stick, but God help her if she gets in front of a Texas jury, because they'll try to find something to bust her for.
