Yeah, it is a mess. Speaking of commerce, it is directly tied to infrastructure.

So basically the majority of Americans were lead to believe it was to fix our infrastructure when instead it was a smorgasbord board of pork...

I think the link made me feel even worse about paying taxes than i did before, but thanks for the efforts.

Commerce is the typical user of transport infrastructure, as well as hotels and associated businesses. That is why labor shouldn't pay taxes. Commerce should.

Well, you might be right, to be honest I haven't really studied up
on that angle.

Here is an article that just came out from the IMF
It has more to do with taxes and economic growth
than Infrastructure, yet it is relevant.

There you have it.
I'm glad you took the time to read some of that.

That is why I stated that ONE of the reasons Infrastructure is crumbling.
Another is what you have mentioned : Misallocation of Funds.

My basic point is, We are borrowing money to cover our expenses to the
benefit of multinationals and others rather than fixing the loopholes in the system.
You are correct in saying that Taxpayer dollars are being thrown at the wrong problems.
Both points are valid, and directly linked.

You should create a thread about where the stimulus went, the reduction in
infrastructure spending, and waste.

I think like most of our problems in this country there probably is no single, simple answer.

This week in our local newspaper was an article about a mfg. co. that wants to expand. They want tax breaks. It will create jobs that create a larger tax base and possibly possibly more money into the states sales tax coffers which is a good thing. But the co. wont pay taxes or get a break.

Thats how we have to get GM and other companies to build in our states, offer 20 years of little or no taxes. free utility hookups etc...

Sure they create jobs and taxes but at what cost?

I prefer giving the tax breaks because it does create jobs, namely construction jobs which affect me.
