Things are falling apart.
Roads, bridges, dams, rail systems. energy plants
electric grids,etc.

One reason why, is because some Companies,
don't pay their fair share.

Sure, they'll do anything to extract every penny
they can from you. They'll use the infrastructure
to their advantage, and hide every penny in offshore
accounts.

This has been going on for years.
No one has done anything to correct the tax code.
These guys are getting a free ride at our expense.

We just spent 9 trillion dollars fixing infrastructure

Its simply because the government hires dumb asses and crooks.

Who the hell pays 35 dollars for a stinking cup cake.

I know this happens in hotels and convenience stores. I have dealt with businessmen from India, pakistan, and Morrocco, and that is a business model that many use: buy a moderate priced structure, monetize it without capital investment, then sell.

Take a Holiday Inn Express as an example. You buy it with its branding at $12mil. When you purchase you have to do a "PIP" (property improvement plan). This is how Holiday Inn promotes and improves their brand: on the backs of the owners, a little at a time. The PIP may have you replace carpet and some case goods, perhaps improve pool furniture and get the pool resurfaced. Usually a parking lot resurface too. In the end, the purchase is financed for $13.5mil. It is then operated for 5-6 years with a bare minimum of reinvestment made (basically, just fixing the things the quality inspector demands repair of in their inspections). You pay your note and make your cash ($300k/month, and up). After your 5-6 years you can either sell it, or change the flag and keep operating it under a slightly less valuable brand.

I know one guy that does this here, and uses the money to build branded hotels back in India. He has done it for 20 years here. He runs a small, unbranded hotel and then owns 5 or 6 others that are branded under Hampton, HIE, and LaQuinta. He'll sell them with their flags intact, but will use the money from them to build 2 more hotels in India. So far he has 7 built in India, and those are what he puts his money back into. They are his retirement plan. He sucks from our economy and puts it back into his.

And if you really want to see a source of loss for the value of our economy, look at how much our doctors from overseas send home. I know a few of those, too. Wife has worked for them, and they send 10's of thousands each month back home to fund whatever they are funding there. One was arrested once for ties to the Taliban. He was sending enormous amounts back to Pakistan.

Although I think a select group of companies and individuals get away with what amounts to "extra money" when it comes to tax time, I think you are correct with the rest.
Except replace "dumb asses and crooks" with "golf buddies and guys from the Lodge".
Either way you're correct.
Those in power are in that position for a reason. Money. You can solicit for more if you sweetheart more in deals to those you know.

And yet the government pays out enormous subsidies to these very companies whose infrastructure is crumbling.

We are hearing about these "accidents" more and more lately.

They wait until bridges collapse and buildings explode then say, "Them damn infrastructures".

Meanwhile the people foot the bill for the emergency responders and construction crews that clean up and rebuild.

Their cup runneth over, ours is leaking out the bottom…

Hey Tex,
i'm glad to read that someone here sees the bigger picture.
It is long overdue for our representatives to correct and modernize
the system.

Whered the stimulus package go then? Did we get robbed? No if you ever ride by a road construction site State or federal there's always five people standing around one guy with a shovel. Same goes for our defense department we have the biggest budget in the world by far for defense. I will guarantee you we pay 10 times more for the same missile or weapon then china or Russia does.

And you local state and federal cronies thank you for it. After the irs takes 40 percent of it to proccess your return the other 60 percent will then be split 20 percent will go to some foreign country whose citizens hate us, and 20 percent will go to those that dont want to work, and the last 20 percent will be put on interest of our growing debt.

Nice job congrats Pakistan thanks you for your patriotism.

I agree with you there Shaiker, but the fact remains that things are falling apart.
The system needs to be streamlined for efficiency. We can't afford 200.00 screwdrivers
and 4000.00 toilet seats any longer. Nor can we afford tax evaders.

Ok i do pay my taxes but i vote independent every year. If you want infrastructure fixed you could give these guys 100 percent of your check and none would go toward infrastructure. To fix it the crooks gotta go i dont look at it as patriotism anymore i look at it giving crooks money for fear of being jailed or worse.

I understand that.
That is why this matter needs to be addressed.
The only way that is going to happen is for this to be
in the forefront of peoples minds and a focus of
public opinion.

It doesn't need modernization insomuch as to return to the system which our constitution was designed for: quit taxing income.

Money is the toll of our existence. You trade your labor for money, which is taxed. Then you are taxed on what you trade that money for. Your labor is thus taxed twice. At both points of exchange.

Quit taxing labor, tax only consumption and commerce. Sure, it would put more pressure on commerce on the one hand. On the other, think of all those payroll taxes that they wouldn't be paying. They could just simply set price according to tax, and move on.

I know this is Wiki, but here is a general breakdown of the stimulus spending.
Most of it did Not go to infrastructure.
I will try to find a better source for you.
