Who do you think Carson is referring to with the "progressives" bit, the Tea Party?
And who is the "we" that isn't going to let those evil liberal progressive democratic nazis take over?

Have you ever been dragged out of your house?
Followed from school and beaten the crap out of?
Told your kind isn't welcome here?
Er... actually yes.

I'd have to agree with the good doctor.
Just look at social media.
Make any type of comment not according to societal "norms" and you're a;
This country has become damned scary.
Poor you! Poor delusional you... your eyes must glaze over all the racial, gay, misogynist comments that are literally on every goddamn site you're allowed to comment on including this one, luckily we have some good mods. If anything it used to be more like Nazi Germany than it is today as far social issues go. Have you ever been dragged out of your house? Murdered in a public bathroom? Followed from school and beaten the crap out of? Swung from a tree? Told to use a different fountain, told your kind isn't welcome here? Fking hell what a bunch of crybabies.
Sorry I didn't agree with you.
Please put the "star" on me now.

That's why I said Pre-WWII Germany. Those 'blame the 1%' (like the Nazis blamed the Jews) and 'if you tell the truth you are a hater' kinds of stuff are pulled ... but they don't hang on. If they caught hold and were how the country was being run, then I'd give you the America=NaziGermany thing. If you can convince me that it's taken hold, I'll change my mind and say he's right.
If we wait until the "ovens" then it'll be too late.
Fascist ideology consistently invokes the primacy of the state. Leaders embodied the state and claimed indisputable power. Fascism borrowed theories and terminology from socialism but replaced socialism's focus on class conflict with a focus on conflict between nations and races. Fascism
For the record I see the US as being closer to the communist, Stasi controlled eastern Europe of the cold war days.
The east is a third world toilet, filled with pollution, cockroaches, noise, potholes, and very tightly built modern concrete huts
