If the government didn't borrow all the money out of Social Security, it would be completely in the black and not need the government to pay back money into it. Social Security and medicare are not the problem, it was congress taking the money out of these huge funds to hide their overspending in the past that was the problem.

Social Security is a very good program. The big inequity in what is paid to people is not right though. It is supposed to be something to help you live when you get old and decide to give up your job to a new young worker. It was probably the best program our government implemented but it is abused often.

I know a person who get 4 grand from college teaching pensions and full medical insurance after they retired. Now, that money comes from the governments taxpayers. I Can't see that kind of pension being paid to a retired person, that is more than a beginning teacher gets. No wonder young teachers complain about not having a living wage, the retired teachers get more than someone who works.

How about instead of not paying taxes do the following:

1. Enforce a lifetime two term limit

2. No money from any company can be used for campaigns, everyone gets the same set amount to work with

3. Salaries are directly tied to approval ratings. Ratings go up, pay goes up

I think that would be a good start...

1.
Term limits mean zero IMO.

TPTB simply indoctrinate the politicians at a lower level thus influencing candidates elections.

2.
That might infringe on the !st Amendment ?

3.
(don't understand the point)

10 billion is right around .3% of spending.

Did you have a point?

So, I must continue to fund you, while those that fund me aren't contributing thus leaving me with nothing?

Ask not what your country can do for you, but demand that your neighbor pay for your retirement.

Considering that current federal spending ALONE on the big 3 tell everyone how much of a LIE that is.

From the link provided: www.usdebtclock.org...

Those 3 account for over 2.2 trillion dollars that go directly to:

The poor, and the middle class.

You aren't funding me jack****. I'm merely getting back from the program what I paid into it. I paid more into social security than I'll ever get back. I'm at a loss why you can't get that concept thru your head.

And for your information....thru my current businesses, 3 LLCs manufacturing, service and retail, I'm still paying into social security and workman's comp for my employees.

Your insults don't really make any sense! I'm a contributing member of society, not a freeloader and I always have been.

i'm not retired, sitting home feeling sorry for myself!! I'm in my office right now..........sheesh!!

Again, the money you paid in is gone, non existent, bye bye, spent, used up...............

There is a reason why SS is set to be insolvent in what, 10 years or so.

But, you keep not getting angry that where you duped into thinking that the Govt would take care of you and the money you were forced to hand over, and stay angry at those that are actually funding your Govt Ponzi scheme and saying they don't want to be forced to pay for others.

That is great that you are still working.

You have to remove the chip on your shoulder and actually come to terms that you and I and everyone was lied to by the Govt....again....

The money is gone.

I'm to busy being productive and running businesses to be angry and feeling sorry for myself. Agreed the system is ****** up but if you think voting Republican is going to change anything....LoL...What solution do you have?

Sounds to me like you are the one with the chip on his shoulder!!! Not me....

I feel blessed to live in a country where my intelligence, education and hard work allows me to prosper and prosper big.

Whining on the internet won't get **** done!!

Here's some unsolicited advice for you and conservatives in general...you need to lose the VICTIM mentality. America from my perspective is the land of opportunity if you have enough drive and ambition to actually learn the system and work within it! You would be astonished at how much fun and rewarding, facing the challenge is.

Thats so true.

Their job is to get the hell off people, and business's back, and let them do their things.

Hell after 70+ years of government 'help' :

There are more people out of work, working part time, and dependent upon government for their existence than ever before in this nations entire history.

And some people want that kind of 'help'.

There are so many levels of insanity there.

But what can one expect from people who claim to believe in 'evolution', and use government to social engineer the environment to suit the individual.

Instead of people doing what they have done for hundreds of thousands of years.

They adapt to change.

That is how we 'humans' became 'top of the food chain'.

Although after the last century of 'better living through government' don't see how we ever did.

I must chime in and respectfully disagree with you on this Neo96.
Social Security has a cap limit of $116,000. Of which, I believe there
is a 6.20 % tax.

So in other words, if an individual earned 14 million dollars in 2013,
they would only be liable for the above.
If an individual earned $4.3 Billion in 2013, they still would only be liable
for the above mentioned.

Then again, if an individual earned $117,000 in earnings in 2013,
they also would be liable for the 6.20% on $116,000.

I do agree with you on this .
That goes for improperly managed foreign aid as well.
So one way of correctly modernizing Social Security, would be to
remove the cap. Or at least raise it significantly.
In addition, it should become a locked Cookie Jar.
Lastly, the IOU's left by the political raiders, of both parties,
need to be repaid.
There is a way to repair the damage.

I have helped plenty of Senior Citizens, WW2/Korean Vets, and neighbors navigate the difficult
sign up process to Social Security/Medicare. I did not charge a dime.
I myself am too young to be a recipient.
However, I immediately noticed the difference it made in their lives.
The relief to which it reduced their anxiety was rapidly apparent.

I think Roosevelt had it right on this one.
Modernize the system, reduce the levels of fraud,
and it will be stabilized and better than before.

To be realistic, can you vision an America without it ?
There would Truly be Zombies in the streets.
Citizens who defended The United States,
Citizens who contributed to American Society,
and The World all their lives.

Only to be left out to rot by the mismanagement of a few.
It is unthinkable.
It can not, will not, and does not need to happen.

So what ?

Never heard either a millionaire, or billionaire cry about social security.

But then again there is no cap on investment income such as the medicare capital gains tax that they are paying for people who supposedly 'paid all their life' in to.
