yes, because if it doesn't reduce it all the way down to zero, must not be worth it at all...

I don't think anyone seriously believes that getting rid of guns altogether would stop all gun deaths, but think about it there are LESS gun-deaths, much less gun deaths, much less murders in general. So quite clearly getting rid of guns has done something.

Just thinking......that is/was a Progressive ideal.

We like our guns in Canada too, we like our venison,
we like our fishing rods, we like our fish,
we like our freedom, we like our pens and pencils too, we like our katanas...
we like our hammers saws drills and levels,
we love our weapons of mass construction

but mostly we love the anti gun nuts
cause you are the ones that will be bringing mistake knives to the gun fight

remember that old poem?
i paraphrase:
first they came for buddy, then they came for other buddy, then they came for me and i had no buddy

bad boy, bad boy,...watcha gonna do when they come for you...

The murder rate in Scandinavia is a fraction of both countries, yet they have very high gun ownership.

Are Scandinavian's really horrible shots, or are the guns not the real issue?

If you remove 4 cities, Chicago, New Orleans, Detroit and Los Angeles from the stats our violent crime rate would be lower than the UK. In other words, poverty is one of the major causes crime, not guns.

In America 90% of the violent crime takes place in bad areas. Unlike the U.K. where it seems to be everywhere.

1st violins in America would not be very likely to participate in looting and riots. Can you say the same about your home?

I leave my cars unlocked in my driveway and only lock my house if I'm going to be gone for a couple days.

Do you feel safe doing that in the U.K.?

You act like these are mutually exclusive...
"Choose one: keep your 2nd ammendment rights and live in the pisshole country DC is trying to turn America into or abdicate your rights and allow DC to create a utopia."

I say only this, I'd rather struggle to live and eventually die on my feet than have everything handed to me while on my knees.

That´s not some utopian society... Pretty much any Northern-European nations is similar to that. You pay your taxes and get what you paid for. And the government debts are less than 50% of GDP.

Yeah, you keep telling yourself that.

Cabin
No, suicide by firearms isn´t counted in statistics.

Yes...yes they are. Instead of talking out of your rear, why not go and research this.

They are indeed included.

Cabin
Do the gangbangers raise up the stats in every state?

They kind of have to, as they are counted and it occurs in every state.
A gang banger that is 17yrs is counted as a child involved in firearm related crime stats.

Cabin
When comparing states separately to different European nations, even then, the state having the lowest rate (0.3 per 100k in Vermont, everybody else is over 0.4, in total only 11 states have firearm homicides under 1.0) would not qualify in top 20 lowest rates in Europe...

And that means what to me??

Cabin
I don´t watch BBC.

That´s just a comment on your post, although I don´t bother arguing on pro/anti gun topic...

That's nice.

. Remember how their people funded the IRA.

Maybe your Govt should stop trying to rule over the Irish then......

Nah, your okay with that right??? You know, imposing your will/want on others. Like stating because you don't see a "need" for an AR15, it therefore should not be allowed.

You mean the protestant majority that voted democratically to leave the newly formed Irish Free State and join the UK? I suppose you are talking about us "ruling" over the minority who could very easily cross the border?

Why is it that yanks always talk with such authority over subjects they have little to no knowledge on? It's beyond ridiculous.

Ah, I love that it is okay for the "Protestants" to move a country, but not a US citizen to own a specific firearm. SO your okay with a religious group being the driving factor for Govt policies?

Oh by the way, I have relatives that are in Ireland. So maybe, just maybe I might be a little more informed then the average yank.

Nahhh, that can't be it.

Here, hold my beer (I don't drink actually) while I shoot this can off tha head of a baby seal while I bathe in oil and tune my TY to Oprah.

Oh sweet, you got family members there. I'm half Irish and spent my childhood there. I saw what your dollars did. I have never and will never forgive you lot.

LOL.. the back and forth is becoming a great read... Nolimits.. you seem to an angry opinionated brit.. and thats great... MacMan is Macman and that is great as well. I have a feeling you are in a losing battle though. Being rude to Boymonkey who is NOT kissing ass to us "yanks" is truly in bad form.

I would have to say that BoyMonkey was right in his question to you, and that you are just a banned member who is back on with a grudge. Drink a Bass and chill out. Right now you are being seen as nothing more than a troll.

Oh, so they took into account all the deaths/attacks that are averted due to the victim having a firearm???

Yeah, you can keep your strict gun laws and high violent crime. I think we will be just fine with what we have.

How about this. You deal with your crap in your country and I won't inject my ways onto you, and you do that in return??

Says the man from a country that has military bases in 130 nations and has invaded 69 nations since WW2...

Not to mention from a country that carved its existence out of the flesh of people who were already here through Manifest Destiny.

I'm not saying we don't have a lot to be proud of but telling other nations to mind their own business is a bit ironic.

It is up there, the facts speak for themselves.

The socialist argument is about fomenting a demonstrable will to make a public sacrifice, for the sake of a yet to be achieved utopia, at least on this specific issue and in this case. They do not recognize that circumstances are vastly improved when liberty trumps totalitarianism.

Don't ever call yourself a Great Briton then with your disgusting view that we would have been better under Nazi rule then getting help from the Yanks in WW2.
Do you understand who many of us Brits died fighting them? plus many from other countries? you should be ashamed of yourself...bloody Nazi lover.

I don't. I call myself English. And if you had even the basic capacity to read, you would understand my belief that we should have stayed out altogether. Not our problem. Had the germans tried it on despite our neutrality, then yes, war would be met. But it is a historical fact that Hitler never wanted a war with us. I don't love the Nazis, never have I made such a statement.

HAHAHAHAH... so you truly think that Hitler would have left you alone? You are just an angry and confused little boy. I would hazard a guess to say that many other confused or blind people said that in the past about the Romans, Alexander the great, Ghengis Khan, Spain, Britian, Ect... yeah... they want to leave us alone... and a few years later they rape, pillage and absorb.

If you are half Irish and half English I could understand the confusion.... since your one half enslaved the other half to a scale on par with the Africans.

That would be Chicago, America's liberal guilt capital.

But D.C. still has it's share of gun crime, even though the guns are illegal.

I think it's the "no guns allowed" signs fault, they aren't worded strongly enough.

but you're already on your knees, despite what you're saying, or might conciously believe.

a gun won't help you in any real way fight the federal government, sure you could kill some people before you yourself are killed, but that won't change anything really.

Norway has pretty non-restrictive gun laws, but they do ban automatic rifles, some calibre pistols, it's a felony in norway to convert a semi-auto into a full-auto.

Finland also prohibits automatic weapons, you have to buy a special permit/license to own them, though its speculated there are a lot of illegal ones unregistered.

It's an interesting point you raise though about income inequality being a major factor for crime..

never once said murder, said violent crime.. there is a huge difference.. murder was never even implied.. but thanks for trying to read between the lines.

Try to deny it, but you do have to own that the UK has one of the highest violent crime rates in the world.
