Millenials skipping Church, Marriage and Political Affiliation

Millenials sorry you are going to have to wait your turn. Baby boomers time is coming to a end. Generation X turn now. We have been sitting here totally ignored for a while now watching the baby boomers stuff things up and listening to the Millenials talk about themselves all day.
We have had enough of the parasite governments, the churches and the PC gangs.
Things are going to change. Our mantra was we didn't give a f**k about anything . We have grown up a bit now and we are sick of this crap, and are starting to take the power back.

Don't use the baby boomers for an excuse for you failure. There were lots of jobs during our time. We worked from 1968 until 2007, paid into social security every paycheck, plus a private retirement plan. So don't use the boomers as an excuse to sit on your arse.

This report is flawed. It makes some nice proclamations about millenials being non-religious and independent, but then it just makes this blind leap that all these millenial are just undeclared Democrats. That is complete bs. First off, there are more than just two political parties, so it's not and never should be an either/or game. Second, some people just don't subscribe to a certain ideology. I should know. I used to be one of those people. And I can tell you that I didn't want to have anything to do with either party back then as well. Now I'm a proud Libertarian, still non-religious and still single (not that that matters but I threw it in there anyways).

Sorry to say, ya'll are just going to continue to screw it up much the same as the Boomers are doing now. But don't worry, I'm not sitting on a high horse here. Us millenials will follow in your and the Boomers' footsteps when it is our turn. Until a huge outside change forces us to change, just expect more of the same.

Almost forgot one. They play violent games in the basement.

The truth is that politicians couldn't stand to see all that money just sitting there in social security and retirement funds when it could be used to buy votes. The money was taken out of the "lock-box" accounts and was put into the "general fund". It was then spent on war, welfare, disability, unemployment, food stamps, free school food programs, public pensions, foreign aid, etc...

So not only is all "your" money gone, but also 50 years of compound interest all that money would have earned. But you already knew that, right?

Yes, you put the money away. But it was stolen during broad daylight, right in front of your eyes. Now there's nothing left.

It is what it is.

Of course I got screwed. It is to be expected in our country. Somebody always wants what you have. But I keep a lot of family afloat with the check I get each month. I babysit for free for my Millenial kids , I pay for the grandkids dance classes, get them to school, pick them up while their parents work. And when they can't make their bills, I take up that slack. They appreciate my worth even if my fellow americans and politicians do not.

Let me tell you that the marriage is possible, but you better make sure that the person you find to marry is someone you like as a best friend and want to do things with a lot. And make you that you both understand that marriage is as much about them as it is about you from both sides of the equation.

Oh, and that first blush of passion? Yeah, it ain't gonna last. That doesn't mean you won't still want each other, but it does mean you will both run into other people you will find attractive - this is where the friendship angle is so very important because if you really like each other and really care about each other, then you will really love each other and realize that no matter how tantalizing little Ms. or Mr. Thang is, they can't replace what you already have.

You also need to realize that what we have now? It's coming down. There's no way it can last until even I'm old and gray and ready to retire. So if you're dinking it, there won't be anyone out there to take care of you when you get too old to care for yourself. At least my husband and I will have one kid, and if we do it right, he might even feel like he should help care for us when we're all old and drooly, too. It's a sure bet Daddy Guv and SS won't be around to do it.

One must wonder how much the leftist takeover of academia has to do with this demographic leaning left.

Liberalism has taken over academia, just like a cancer, and it must be exterminated.

That being said, its about time the joke known as religion started losing ground. With any luck, it will be only be talked about in history books within a century or two. Religion as a whole is just under government in terms of its detrimental effect on humanity.

You have an extremely good point, Yes our views will change when we get older but remember this.

Our generation actually knows more about the world and politics, in our early years, then ANY other generation because of the fact that we grew up with the internet. In my own experience I have found that I generally know way more about polictics and basically how the world is run then most people I know that are at least 10 years older then me (Im 26). I also know that goes for most people my own age aswell.

Our generation has had more information/comunication tools at our finger tips then ANY generation before us.

So with that said its hard to say that we will turn out like every other generation before us because NO other generation had this great invention called the internet available to them like we have now.

That might be relevant if your generation actually used the Internet to access all that relevant information. My experience is that most of them do not. More of your generation and mine are busy looking up outrage over the results of last night's Bachelor finale and who's boinking who in Hollywood than they are delving into political policy and the issues. Oh, then they post it to their social media site of choice and seek to see how many of their electronic peers will "like" it to get a sense of approval.

I for one will not slag off the new generation growing up because hopefully they will take care of me when Iam old
I feel sorry for them because they are screwed by the system the older generations made and I just hope they can get their act together (sorry but our older generation hasn't done great) and not make the same mistakes boomers and Gen Xers have made.

I think it makes more sense to look at religious affiliation between the generations at the time of their youths and make a comparison. There's a nifty graph from the Pew Research center that shows this rather well:



The appeal of established religion and religious views, religious cultural influences have been on the decline with each passing generation and it's not getting any better for evangelicals. I doubt being stubborn and backwards has done a great deal for the movement, don't you agree? More in this link:

To an extent I understand your point. Our views change with time as we mature, that doesn't necessarily equate to becoming part of an established religion or ideological view. It'd be interesting to also see generational differences back in the 60's in terms of the Vietnam war, or interracial marriages, I wouldn't be surprised if the older generations stood opposite to the younger generations on those events.

True. But I would not trade the hard earned wisdom I have at 63. I did some really stupid things when my IQ was high and my chronological age young.
