NEWS: North Koreans Detail Deadly Experiments on Prisoners

Several scientists, formerly of North Korea, have revealed in interviews with human rights groups the disgusting details of experiments with chemical weapons on political prisoners of the totalitarian state. The experiments were said to have started in the 70's and continued to as late as 2002.



I'm sure no one is surprised by the brutality of this shocking revelation. Totalitarian states have had a long history of using political prisoners as guinea pigs. In a country such as North Korea, if you dissent you are almost assured a death sentence. The only variable is how you will die.

In the case of this story, that choice was to be an unwilling participant in the government�s experiments with chemical weapons. It has been hinted at many times in the past that North Korea maintained a stockpile of such weapons. If the testimony of these scientists proves to be correct, it will be more proof that North Korea does maintain such weapons.

One interesting question might be, for people for whom this type of behavior is normal, or considered part of life, how well will they integrate into societies in the world?
Story states they are now living in SK, I wonder how well they are fitting in, especially given that they showed no remorse for the actions.

Another interesting question should be posed to the executioners in the US and around the world who kill prisoners using electricity, chemical injections or gas. It seems like thesee scientist believed themselves to be in the same situation and have dealt with it in the same terms.

Also how does the us government feel about exploding nuclear arms in proximity to it's own troops to test the range and effects of fallout

In most cases political prisoners have not murdered people.... There is a difference between executing people who have committed no crimes, except being in the opposition and in order to test chemicals, and murderers who have killed among others women and children.

As to your second question, there have been allegations of this being done in the past...by administrations that exist no more. Perhaps you should look into what administrations did this, if the allegations are true, and then if any of the people of those administrations are alive, ask them why....

Must I remind you of the US's fairly poor track record with chemical weapons? Hell, in the 80's, ya'll gave a some to Saddam. Let's take a quick refresher:

Ya know, with the stories of the brutality and Nuclear ambitions of North Korea competeing with the stories of brutality and Nuclear ambitions of Iran, it's hard to tell who the target of the next war will be.

It almost seems like there are groups out there competing to defame one or the other country in order to justify what they think should be the next target.
Oh yeah, and let's not forget Syria.

From 1963-1975, UK military scientists (and sometimes the US military) conducted massive releases of live bacteria across the southern coast of the UK in order to simulate biological warfare attacks.

Although the population of the test area wasn't the target of the attacks they were nonetheless exposed to large quantities of bacteria that were capable of causing diseases of the blood and chest. To anyone suffering from a serious underlying disease, these BW experiments could have proved fatal.

The scientists responsible for conducting these tests still refuse to accept that they did anything wrong, and their former employers refuse to rule out carrying out further larger scale tests in public.

Military scientists are a breed apart. Some, as the recent verdict in the reopened Ronald Maddison inquest proved, are devoid of any compassion or ethical responsibility.

Selling weapons is quite different from directly using them on human subjects in controlled experiments. Most governments are probably guilty of despicable acts in the name of "science" at some point in their pasts.

As for the "righteous indignation"... keep in mind that most people around the world are unaware of their own government's misdeeds. If they knew (or were willing to believe), then they'd probably be equally outraged. It's every decent human being's right to be angered by such news without being insulted.

As I recall, he instead used them on the Iranians and Kurds and killed thousands. Because, giving -even selling- chemical weaposn to a madman and butcher is INFINTIELY better than what's happening in NK!

The big difference is in most cases, 'at some point in their pasts' doesn't mean 'almost continuously since 1931'. In America's case, it does.

This is about N Korea testing weapons on humans so I will stick to the subject

I saw a show about this on TV once they had a few people that used to work at these places that defected to S Korea some even brought documents or prisoner transfer papers to the labs as proof with them.

One guy was a guard at one of these test areas and he went on to describe the glass rooms and the cat walks above for the scientist to watch the test. He said they would kill a whole family at a time to test the reactions and he went on it great detail what happened. Some pretty scary stuff.

Many different people all describe the chambers the same exact way.
