Seems to me that Facebook is a strictly SOCIAL ENGINEERING SITE>>>>>>ie they are actively in the business of creating a certain personality type throughout the site.....making ants for the new anthill.............

Exactly! THey are creating or at least are part of the creation of a hive thought process. This is the point I was trying to get across.....that they are trying to change the hive thinking on guns.....and as you pointed out ....changing thinking on other things as well.

Noooo, Facebook are looking to build up a commercial base to make money off - you call that an anthill? I thought in America you call it capitalism and is your best friend? As others have posted, it's a privately owned site. They can restrict posts on guns, child abuse, female castration, whatever - your right to free speech doesn't count for anything on a privately run site - and why should it? Take a long hard look at the T's and C's for ATS. You may not agree with them all, tough, it's a privately owned site, you don't get to call the shots. Why do you think Facebook should be any different?

I think this has been covered.

Do a little research on how Google, Microsoft and Facebook came into being.....see if you can find info on if the CIA and NSA have any involvement....you might be surprised what you find.

Heck....even just look into Bill Gates dad......see if he has any ties to the CIA....

It's their website and they're free to do as they please. And I hope they continue to limit what people can post. I hope that this in return helps destroy Facebook. I loathe that website beyond belief. It's like a cancer on the web, more and more websites want you to sign up using Facebook. No thanks.

I couldn't agree more. Matter of fact, your post has inspired me. I think I'm going to start making note of this corporatocracy and stay away from those sites altogether.

You might NOT be hanging out on Facebook, BUT while you're sleeping, the neighbor cat is sneaking in your window at night and inviting all his Facebook friends to the party he's having in your back yard next week!

Why? I don't particularly care if Bill Gates's dad has (or it's alleged he has on a CT site), what has that go to do with the right of any website or come to that any group to make its terms on conditions? You don't like them? Don't join, it's really that simple.... isn't it?

Firearms first, then 'free' speech, then 'fair' trails, then right to assembly, then right to choose which school, then right to choose your holiday destination, then your auto is chosen for you, then your clothes, then..........

it sure is that simple.....now....shouldn't we let people know what these sites little "conditions" are so people can make informed decisions?

I don't know....maybe tell people that Facebook is considering not letting gun friendly pages be active anymore? Or should we all just shut up and let them do what they want and sit around saying "they can do what they want".

I don't know....I think we should debate it and pressure these private companies to conform to us "the customers"......

but you can sit back and throw your hands up if you want

Are you a customer of Facebook? How much do you pay them? If you are a shareholder then go to the next AGM and make your feelings clear. You appear to think anyone who has a different opinion to yours should bend to meet what you want - that's fine but I hope you don't lose too much sleep when they think otherwise.

Then they should block all the pro police and pro army pages too. Those guys love guns!
Not to even mention that Bloomberg is constantly surrounded by armed goons
edit on 5-3-2014 by dashen because: (no reason given)

Wonder if they will block all the web pages of rap artists trying to look tough with guns'n'stuff

There is still the issue that they are making it an 18+ year old thing though.....treating it like it is porn or something "bad or taboo"

Of course guns are bad for minors, duh.

My seven, ten and twelve year old don't seem to think so

I was under the impression when you use Facebook, you pretty much waive your right to free speech. It's a company and a service no one is forced to use.

It would be like going into someone else's house and doing whatever they wanted with the home owners possessions.

If the pro-gun people are upset they can't sell guns on Facebook, there are plenty of auction sites out there they can use. Or, they could create their own social networking website in whatever fashion they desire.

When you're in someone else's house, you play by their rules.

I don't think anybody would have a problem with that as long as it's clearly stated when you sign up, and readily available to reference anytime. It shouldn't be left up to one's "impression".

This would be a clear list of what you are and are not allowed to talk about on Facebook, and even what position you need to agree with on various subjects before posting.

What bothers me is that they would not do this because it would drive away business, they just want to enforce it "quietly" so people think they have the right to free speech on Facebook, but are in fact being used to forward a predetermined agenda.

The covert deception and manipulation are what bother me.

So I wonder, Do you start in an entry level position at Facebook and work your way up to the NSA or is it the other way around?

You realize that you agreed to the terms and conditions of facebook when you signed up, right?

And that a right to free speech doesnt exist on a privately owned website, right?

Why is it that the people who cry about free speech the most have a gross lack of understanding of what it means?
