I am terribly sorry for your loss, as a skier i completely understand the scenario, the mountain is an awe inspiring yet unpredictable place, it draws you in and it makes you crave more of it. ON the topic of the post though I know what you mean, when i was younger I was playing in the woods and I saw a flash of light run past me around a tree and for some reason I knew it was my cat that had passed that day, the only reason I still think it was her and not my childish imagination is because we buried her in the woods I saw this happen in, not more than 30 yards away.

Im not sure I'd call what happend to you, 'confirmation', of anything. But I sure hope you're right - that there is life after death, and that we all meet up again on the other side. One of my fears is that yes, we DO meet up on the other side, but we have no recollection of what happened here, or the relationships we had here, in this life. Maybe on the other side nothing we did in this life matters anymore. I don't know. But at this point of my life, in THIS world, I'd hate to lose all of my memories of my family and friends.

Yes, those whom have passed over CAN leave a message for another...even years later. I was not a believer in such a thing until it happened to me. How sweet of your brother to reach out to you. You have been blessed in a way few really ever get to experience. It would not surprise me to hear that you "still" see those light flashes years later. He is not a ghost, but energy from a very positive place. Although you will miss his physical presence, his spiritual side is always there. Take comfort in knowing that he is showing you that he is still very much alive but only in different form.

I guess my question would then be why would they visit and say goodbye if the memories and meaning are lost after the death of the body? Maybe the meaning and memories are even MORE vibrant and numerous there than what we can remember here.

That was your brother that came to you, he is OK. We will all be OK when it's time to call home, for the real fun begins when we take our last breath as we graduate to a higher vibrational plain, in this world but not of. I lost my Brother too, and instead of him coming to me, I went to him. Here's a link in case you are interested OP, it had a profound impact on me :

I told my story on other threads (Who has had more than one paranormal experience, page 219 to 220). We lost my 30 year old son a year ago, and with-in one day after his death, he interrupted his sisters cell phone and spoke to her, and on later unanswered calls, as callers left voice-mails, his voice over-laid theirs and were recorded. We have 10 recorded messages and 5-6 others not recorded and experienced by 4 family members, with many other related para-normal events related to him in the last year affecting dozens of family and friends. These ranged from lights dimming when we talk about him in groups, to young children quoting very obscure things he said that are beyond random chance, to secret information given in lucid dreams, like a family member being told she is pregnant within weeks of becoming pregnant, and well before any confirmation or exams. We have the recordings which were sent to various specialists for analysis, no one has any feedback of tampering or got much more from the messages than we did). I realize that unless you were there and know our credibility, and how this unfolded, few will believe me. But 100% proof of an afterlife to hundreds who shared in these events with my family.

He mentions several times seeing many people, that he loves us, used little known nick-names, and its his voice that only a close family member would know for certain. He mentions decrease family members who he is "hanging-out with", does not mention any deity. Couple of times he starts to talk about where he is, and what it is like there, "if you want to know what its like.." and on another "Its sooo crazy without, I assume, his body but the next words are not clear and the message gets garbled- could be some type of censureship ? We can't understand some messages at all, and only parts of others, yet some parts are very clear. Soft rasphy voice but my son. This is not auditory matrixing and mental projection.

He had been ill for a long time, he says he is better now, its hard to come over, will visit us at our house, loves us, mentions our names, says "they don't know much" which seems to mean that passing over does not produce answers to all questions, but clearly you get to communicate with many others and your memory is intact. One cell phone call to a family member was just before his funeral and he says to be careful what you say (presumably at his funeral). We hear him say "ah" often between sentences, while thinking what to say next, and even says "bye" at the end of some. They are all 5-6 sentences long, and seem to be produced by taking the cell phone electro-magnetic energy coming from the in-coming calls and reusing that energy to affect the phone. But the best thing said is at the end of the 2nd message, just 2 days after his death, he says at the end "he is happy"... its sooo perfect".

So yes, many contacts and also have heard my deceased dog who was put to sleep a few months before my son;s death. I have heard that dog bark many times in my house, nearby but always as if in another room. Once after the dog bark I heard my deceased son say "Dad".

I lost a sister 11 years ago in a car wreck; one month later to the day my son was born premature and almost didn't make it after a 3 month fight NIC. For years I kept a picture of her on my nightstand, and ever since the day he could talk he would walk up to that picture and say her name pointing at it.

Brought me to chills, to this day I truly believe his Aunt is also his guardian angel.

I am sorry for loss yet happy for the possibility of future visits.

I lost my mum 6 years ago. Still haven't heard from her. I'm so glad your brother is around to watch over you.

My Father died 5 years ago from alcoholism, he died all alone. I miss and love him so very much. Last summer in Hawaii I walked out in the middle of the night to the shore. I stood there for awhile and just thought about life in general. Before I left, with tears streaming down my face, I asked him out loud "Daddy show me a sign that this life does not end when we die?"

I then yelled towards the sky, as the waves crashed against the volcanic rock, "show me a sign right now Daddy, right now!".

Right then, and not a second later, a huge shooting star shot across the sky and off into the distance of the pacific ocean. This is a true story, and I still can't believe that it happened myself. I would never lie about something so meaningful. Was it by chance? What are the chances of something like that happening right then, and the shooting star being so huge and amazing?

He sent me a message, and I will never forget it. For all his short comings, his unconditional love towards my brother and I never wavered. Through all his loss and pain, he only gave his love until the end. I once looked at death as being so final, so dark and cruel. After that however, I look forward to the light of a different world that exists out there somewhere.

There is a life out there in this Universe after we leave this beautiful world my friends, and we will meet those who we are genetically connected to again, and maybe even more. Look to the stars, because I myself know in my heart that The Universe is God. ~$heopleNation

I am sorry for your loss. It is comforting, though, to read all of these accounts. I have had a couple myself. Most recently, I had been sleeping poorly, kept waking up in the middle of the night. On the third night of restless sleep, I woke up from a bad dream and felt compulsed to look at the clock and note the time-3:47am. I thought about the dream I just had, and told myself to try to remember it, because it seemed important and kind of disturbing. Then I went back to sleep, and when I woke back up in the morning, I had pretty much forgotten the dream. That was on a Monday. On Thursday, I found out that my brother in law's little sister had been murdered. I hadn't seen her in a few years, but I was close to her when we were younger. Anyway, the next morning, Friday, I was driving to work in an insanely thick fog, and it triggered me to remember the disturbing dream from Monday night. In the dream, I was driving on the same highway, the highway I took to work every day. The fog was the thickest fog I had ever seen, both in the dream and in real life- without the fog I wouldn't have recalled the dream- it was the same fog. It was like driving through a cloud. In the dream, I was driving, and there was a woman in the fog, standing in the middle of the highway, kind of grasping onto the median to hold herself up. Suddenly, I wasn't in my car anymore, was standing in the middle of the highway with her. I approached her to see if she needed help, to tell her to get out of the road because someone could hit her easily in this fog. She was hysterical, just saying she needed help, over and over again. She seemed disoriented. I also noticed she seemed to be made of shadows- I couldn't make out any details. I began to wonder if she was a spirit or a ghost. Still, I wanted to help her. For some reason I couldn't take her in my car to get help (maybe the car represented my body?), and was hoping to flag down another car, and then I woke up. When I was at her wake, and spoke to my brother in law, he said that his sister had been murdered on Monday night, and hadn't been found until Thursday. I feel that maybe her spirit was freaking out and tried to reach out for help. I have had other weird psychic experiences before, though not anything important like this.

Thank you very much for sharing your amazing experience. A few years ago I would have quietly dismissed your story but I've had some experiences in the past 18 months that have left me wiser.

My deepest condolences to you and your brother's family.

Hi! Yes, my dad comes to see me, too. It always makes me feel better. We have good talks in my dreams.

Do you think dreams are another dimension of reality?
I think so.

Thanks for sharing that. Sorry about your brother. I'm far away from my brothers - I worry about them.
But I'm glad to know they won't be totally gone.

I'm sorry for your loss.

When I lost my childhood dog, 2 1/2 years ago, I was away from home for some time. A week after its death, he came to me in a dream: sitting, waiting for me to look at him. When I did, he focused, wagging its tail. It really felt like he was there, and I love to think that he is in a better place and came to say goodbye.

I also had premonitory dreams with living people. Maybe, everyone who experience this phenomena is open-minded to the fact that there are much more in the universe than what we already know, and therefore, can see those things happening.

Wish you the best, and that you can keep your connection with your brother!

I absolutely believe you. At my age, I have lost a few loved ones. I had one visitation from each and I understood that they were happy and moving on. I find it a comfort that you can still feel love after death.

I'm sorry to hear of your brothers passing. That's very sad.
Condolences to you and your family.

I hope his visitation comforts you. He may visit again in a dream.
That's the only way I've experienced the deceased appearing to me.

I am curious as well to the conspiracy side. I was watching a story on avalanches the other day. They were doing a purposeful detonation or however they trigger an artificial one. Instead of one there were two, that came down in a V, converging at the bottom . I was reminded of it when you said V. I don't know what show I was watching to look for that for you.

It sounds like his way of saying good bye he was obviously thinking about you at the end.

i am not a religious person by nature BUT i have seen things that make even me go mmmm.

Hi 999zxcv.
I dont think we need religeon to have life after death. We tend to think that way because all we've ever been offered is - Believe in god and you can go to heaven, or, dont believe and expect nothing!

I do not believe in gods whatsoever, but I'm completely open minded on life after death, in whatever form it may be.

i think that once we were slaves made for nothing but work by a being with a good knowlage of dna no god's needed

still following the d.s
