Probably because as she said she could "see Russia from her backyard'.

Red Storm Rising was the one that got my attention. When I started reading that one I wouldn't let it out of my reach until I got done with it. Lots of real insight into unusual weapons systems. It amazed me he dug up the slang for the CIWS (Christ It Won't Shoot) R2D2 on the ship. I was in the Navy at the time so I was real critical on those parts.

Has anyone brought the subject that Mr. Clancy's death wasn't an accident? I.e...conspiracy.

In the book the only reason the Russians go after Ukraine is because they had alread invaded Estonia before the US rode to rescue and chased them off. So not really on target at all.
