If each one of us does not amass riches only for oneself, but half for the service of others, in this fXXk [pause], in this case the providence of God will become visible through this gesture of solidarity,” he told followers amassed in St Peter’s Square.

That must have been a painful slip! I was wondering about the language, the Pope was speaking his own language was he not?

Pope Francis made a rare linguistic error during his weekly blessing on Sunday, transforming a harmless Italian word into one of the strongest swearwords in the dictionary.

Conspiracy.

The speech writers are trying to set him up.

Well he handled it well, I can say! After the poor Doves being attacked and all it has been a bad time lately.

Oh boy.
Well he is only human. And a syllable off. Lol.
I forgive.

The only way to slip up is that it's a frequently used term in his vocabulary and he just had a brain fart as to where he was...

Many people have to curb their gutter speak in Different circumstances. He just had an "oops" moment.

Peace

I suppose it is not "news" it is human interest. Speaking to so many and being Pope just doesn't mesh with swear words. Wonder if anyone laughed.

If it was Obama who mistakenly used the wrong word I am sure everyone would, is this different somehow?

If it had been Obama, someone would have spun it into a socialist agenda, connected it to some Illuminati ritual, and demanded that he be tried as the Antichrist for crimes against environmentalists worldwide.

I don't adhere to the Catholic faith, but it was most likely a slip of the tongue since his native language is Spanish, not Italian. Caso (?) is similar to ca**o. I also don't want take credit for being the first one to mention this, since I am not. The pope is from Argentina, by the way.

He wasn't speaking his native language. The word he was trying to use is VERY close to the 'F-bomb' in Italian. Obviously it was unintentional. Obviously his detractors are trying to make it seem like he uses the 'F-Bomb' in Italian in his everyday language and it slipped out.

Common sense .... this is a NON story. He tripped up over a word in a foreign language.

Actually I haven't seen anyone trying to make anything out of this other than what it is a funny slip up. Rereading the stories all over the place they all mention the language difference, I personally didn't know it was a language foreign to him.

Sometime people get a little too protective.

One one of the other threads a poster made reference to it and basically inferred it wasn't a slip up. I guess he thinks the pope must say the F-bomb in a foreign language all the time or something ....

Lol well that actually could be true, seems most people today no matter how religious feel the need to use "language". I don't use swear words so it all seems very silly to me. I feel words are important and what comes from within tells a lot about what is within, but I know most people are raised to feel they are just words and feel it is not important.
I think most people would feel warmer toward a swearing Pope :-)

The -F- word is an international vulgarity these days still isn't it originally English? The Holy Father cannot speak English.

It sounds awful and low information related. Ask your guardian angel to help you stop saying it if you use the -F- word.

It's not even his native tounge and he said it?

I can't even imagine going to a church service and hearing the pastor cuss. He'd be so busted.

I mean, you've got to at least be hearing it some what frequently to have it accidently roll off your tounge.

It's like when white dudes accidently say the "N" word. It probably wouldn't happen if they weren't listening to a bunch of rap music and watching Hood movies, maybe. lol
