I think you're all living in la-la land.

Just because territory was assigned back to ukraine which was originally from russia, does not give russia the right in the year 2014 to bring soldiers into the territory of another independent nation - despite ethnic russians living there. Last time i checked, Crimea was an autonomous state of Ukraine (Not Russia)... Ukraine...

The same can be said for the US. What gives them the right to step into other nations on the other side of the world? Let them fight their own battles. These nations seem to take their "superpower" status far too seriously.

Moreover, i thought the ukrainian people were fairly capable of handling their own nation's affairs. What does russia have to do with anything apart from the interests of a single ukrainian pro-russian political party? The state of the russian people of ukraine didn't actually bother putin at all until Yanukovych was overthrown - jeapoardising future russian political interest in the region.

How the EFF is invading another country proper process

Have they invaded or have they just put troops in the bases they rent? The ones they've paid to put up to 25,000 troops in.

Are there troops outside the bases?

If he is allowed to take the Crimea without a fight what's stopping him from taking the rest of Ukraine and expanding his territory into other eastern block countries..

Because he doesn't want to.

Russia doesn't want the Ukraine either, but as the west was hell bent on putting in a muppet regime and thus securing a foothold in Putin's garden, the Russians have felt pushed into a show of force to remind the rest of Europe the fox loses it's fur, not its habits.

If the neighbours dog craps in your garden, the first time you warn the neighbour, the second time, you kill the dog.

You only give half of what's happened and is happening. You sir do realize or will acknowledge that Russia has had their puppets in Ukraine? Being nabours make them more so involved in Ukraine's politics then any other nation or country.

Because you only share half the info, I think anything further or in the past will be disregarded as being fictional or very biased.

Quoting another's saying does not bring weight to your argument or view, other then holding onto someone's else's past ideals.

And regards to your last post of how you feel about Canadians, well.. if it makes you feel better or save time in categorizing an individuals view as a national statement... well... that's your prerogative.

Have a good day sir.

From what I have seen or heard all this while inside Ukraine and monitoring news from both side of the borders, it is my humble opinion that we will have eastern Ukraine taken over by 'self defence forces' soon. And Crimea repeated over again.

That was clearly the plan from the beginning. The "Republic of Crimea" is a temporary measure. Russia is planning on annexing all of Eastern Ukraine.

Crimea is the jewel in the crown, the black sea fleet is stationed there, something that is impossible to lose, thats why he took it first, now its east Ukraines turn, we can already see all of the eastern states flying the Russian flag. And reports of Russian troops building up at the entry points to major eastern Ukrainian cities.

Strategically, Russia needs to own Eastern Ukraine to insure its access to Crimea. Wouldn't want angry Ukrainians blocking roads.

But thats why a bridge is being built across Kerch to directly connect Crimea with mainland Russia.

It depends on each of us, "- he wrote in his blog on the "Ukrainian Truth" . could this not be Putin setting up defensive perimeters in-case Kiev tries to march on Crimea?

Personally, It doesn't make sense for Russia to now try and take Eastern Ukraine when he has taken back Crimea without a shot being fired. To go further is kicking the hornets nest just when they are starting to realize whats happened isn't so bad.
If the majority of Crimea wants to be Russian, is it possible Kiev and Western Ukraine can learn to live with it?

Ukraine on the Brink

Border troops reported Russian forces massing near borders in the Kharkiv, Luhansk, and Donetsk regions.

In Kiev, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Yevhen Perebiynis said the massing of Russian forces near Ukraine’s eastern border appeared to be preparation for a military invasion, Ukraine’s Unian news agency reported.

For those interested:

Yuriy Vitaliyovych Lutsenko (Ukrainian: Юрій Віталійович Луценко; born 14 December 1964) is a Ukrainian politician and statesman and former Minister of Internal Affairs. He occupied this post in the two Cabinets of Yulia Tymoshenko and in Cabinets of Yuriy Yekhanurov, and Viktor Yanukovych. The Ministry of Internal Affairs is the Ukrainian police authority, and Lutsenko became the first civilian minister in February, 2005.[4]
On 13 December 2010 Lutsenko was charged with abuse of office and forgery by Prosecutor General of Ukraine Viktor Pshonka.[5] On 27 February 2012 Lutsenko was sentenced to four years in jail for embezzlement and abuse of office.[6] From then Lutsenko was held at the Lukyanivska Prison from 26 December 2010[7] till 7 April 2013 when he was released from prison because Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych pardoned him (among others) for health reasons.[8] Both Lutsenko and his political allies regard his trial as an act of political persecution by the regime of Viktor Yanukovych.[9][10][11] The European Union, the United States Department of State, Canada, other international organizations and human rights organizations protested against the sentence and questioned if it was a "fair, transparent and independent legal process".[12][13][14][15][16][17]
Lutsenko's wife Iryna Lutsenko was elected into parliament in the 2012 Ukrainian parliamentary election on the party list of "Fatherland".[18]

This comes across as propaganda.
If you were genuinely worried about your eastern cities being invaded by Russia, why would you then in the same breathe ask the people to take to the streets and protest against war? why aren't you telling the people to leave/prepare and sending the military in?

sounds to me like someone screaming invasion, then sending in the thugs to smash windows and beat people up so the western media follows the ''invasion'' line.

Turkey Scrambled 8 F-16 Fighter Jets To Track Russian Plane
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 03/04/2014 - 08:35
In a brief statement this morning, Turkish military authorities have admitted that:

*EIGHT TURKISH F-16 JETS TRACKED RUSSIAN PLANE IN BLACK SEA
*TURKEY SCRAMBLED F-16'S YDAY AS RUSSIAN PLANE NEARED BORDER

Which appears odd given this was a "military exercise" that we are sure the Russians had cleared with neighboring nations that it would be entering their airspace. The Turkish air force has been busy recently following the failed 'drunk' Sochi hijacking and Syrian intercepts.

I love this comment thought...
