I think the topic title is happening somewhat inadequate ) Russia did not declare war on Ukraine - Russian President received consent to use troops if necessary . These are different things .
My condolences to asen_y2k , more likely Crimea disconnected from the rest of Ukraine , as it is likely it will make the eastern region. The rest of the Ukraine ( especially in the western part ) is likely to apply all methods Poland . Ukraine as a state with every hour closer to oblivion . And it seems that everyone in this world is satisfied with things .

Last time I checked sending your armed forces into another nations territory to occupy land is a invasion.

statifik
Russian President received consent to use troops if necessary .

But they didn't seek agreement from Ukraine! Hence its being a I-N-V-A-S-I-O-N.

Hitler got approval from his Party before he invaded Poland.....I take it that wasn't a invasion either? ;lol:

mmm... For a start it must be proven . So far, people have found an occupation that people learn gear who seized the airport. They are so seers that were able to accurately determine the number is not known when and where the photo taken , the type of weapons and belonging to a certain Russian military unit ... it really is worthy of respect . Occupants of Russia poured a sea of blood in the Ukraine ))) ... although generally used in the world if any troops are in the country and meet their friendly , what is happening now in the Crimea , it was called "rescue" ) ) as a world turned upside down ) )

Conflicting reports of the time for the ultimatum.

Naval spokesman confirms Russian ultimatum, differs on time

March 3, 5:54 p.m. -- Oleg Chubuk, a spokesman of Ukraine’s naval forces, told the Kyiv Post: “As far as I know, an ultimatum has been voiced for 6 p.m. (today) with the demand to Ukraine’s soldiers to surrender arms,” he said, adding that the time could be changed. “Ukraine’s sailors don’t yield the provocations, guns are under control.” He said that Ukrainian forces would be required to defend themselves in event of attack. -- Oksana Grytsenko Russians issued earlier ultimatum about attack, Turchynov says

March 3, 5:38 p.m. Russian military commanders have reportedly given the Ukrainian navy until 7 p.m. today to surrender and Ukrainian troops stationed on Crimea's mainland until 5 a.m. tomorrow -- or else they face attack. But the threats could be part of the war of nerves designed to rattle Ukraine. The nation's interim President Oleksandr Turchynov said that Russia gave Ukraine a similar ultimatum two days earlier, with the deadline of 5 a.m. on March 2. "They didn't start storming the bases on 5 a.m., but the situation is still tense there," he said earlier. --

This would explain the reason for the Russian naval ship circling the Ukrainian one.

1607 GMT: Two interesting reports from Kerch, on the eastern edge of the Crimean peninsula (map). The first is that the Russian Prime Minister, Dmitry Medvedev, has ordered the construction of a bridge from Russia to Kerch to directly link Crimea with Russia:

Something that I just read on BBC makes me think of buying a air ticket out of here before airports get closed:

16:02: RBL in London emails: Russia won't stop here, why not? Without Crimea, Ukrainian balance will tilt west so their action would be counterproductive. The imperative is to keep going.

I would seriously start thinking about an exit plan. Because if it gets ugly it will get real ugly fast.
Airports will be the first things to be hit.
The goal will be to take them over or deny their use to anyone else.
I don't know what part of the Ukraine you are in.
If your in the west start looking for a land exit out and stock up on gas, water and food now.
Technically it's already too late but try anyway.
If your in the east be prepared to hunker down in place.

Hopefully it won't come to that but WW1 started because no one knew how to stop it.

This most certainly can be done.

Guerrilla war is nasty business, just ask the Taliban

As soon as US leaves, Taliban is going to party like 1999

There is nothing to worry about, imnho. Russia gets Crimea, either by annex or by proxy. They've always had it. With the threat from the north and the government of Ukraine unstable, with some forces running around not knowing who will be in charge in a week, the Crimea is not in play anymore. Protection of interests is in the interest of all superpowers (Russia still is a superpower, semantics aside), so China and the U.S., the E.U, Israel and the rest, will allow this one while publicly shaking their fingers and barking to impress the people at home.

I'm so convinced of this point of view that I'm not even following this very closely, as I'd usually do as a news addict.

I think this maybe is not true. Not sure about it.

Rebel jingoism fail. Ukraine is now led by the most villainous scum around, so I don't see what guerrilla war you can have, especially with a large Russian population.

Just remind the Russians how Afghanistan and Georgia worked out for them as well.... Guerrilla Warfare is the only way to defeat a superior (in Weapons and might) enemy...Dirty Business, but what option do the Ukrainians have.

Of all the equipment the Russians are carrying I have yet to see any personal night vision, and they don't have enough choppers to effectively patrol the whole region. Night time sabotage of vehicles and such is always an option.. at least bide their time a little.

16:30: Sir Christopher Meyer, a former British Ambassador to the US, has told BBC television there is little Western powers can do to persuade the Russians to back down. He said: "I think we now have to accept that there is no way, and no form of pressure that can be deployed right now which will make the Russians withdraw from Crimea. Crimea and the great Russian naval base at Sevastopol are too important to the Russian national interest for them to go... So what we have to do is... come up with a right calibration of language, sanctions and diplomatic initiatives that will stop this crisis escalating into some form of hot war."

It's been also reported on RT for a few days. But... Yarosh is ashkenazi Jew!? I thought he was just a Nazi non-Jew.

Again... the neocon zionist + Sunni jihadist alliance at play. It's about time Jewish people worldwide overthrow the right-wing extremists among their ranks, as these may be their biggest enemies.

I totally get what you are saying, but remember this.

Guerrilla war can only succeed if people really want you out.

If Eastern Ukraine people want to be part of Russia, it will work, if they don't want to. Russia will fail to keep them.

This is a simple recipe,

You should also know that Russia is about to invest $5 billion in crimea, that helps people too.
