I think the topic title is happening somewhat inadequate ) Russia did not declare war on Ukraine - Russian President received consent to use troops if necessary . These are different things .
My condolences to asen_y2k , more likely Crimea disconnected from the rest of Ukraine , as it is likely it will make the eastern region. The rest of the Ukraine ( especially in the western part ) is likely to apply all methods Poland . Ukraine as a state with every hour closer to oblivion . And it seems that everyone in this world is satisfied with things .
Last time I checked sending your armed forces into another nations territory to occupy land is a invasion.

Russian President received consent to use troops if necessary .
But they didn't seek agreement from Ukraine! Hence its being a I-N-V-A-S-I-O-N.
Hitler got approval from his Party before he invaded Poland.....I take it that wasn't a invasion either? ;lol:
Naval spokesman confirms Russian ultimatum, differs on time
March 3, 5:54 p.m. -- Oleg Chubuk, a spokesman of Ukraine’s naval forces, told the Kyiv Post: “As far as I know, an ultimatum has been voiced for 6 p.m. (today) with the demand to Ukraine’s soldiers to surrender arms,” he said, adding that the time could be changed. “Ukraine’s sailors don’t yield the provocations, guns are under control.” He said that Ukrainian forces would be required to defend themselves in event of attack. -- Oksana Grytsenko Russians issued earlier ultimatum about attack, Turchynov says
March 3, 5:38 p.m. Russian military commanders have reportedly given the Ukrainian navy until 7 p.m. today to surrender and Ukrainian troops stationed on Crimea's mainland until 5 a.m. tomorrow -- or else they face attack. But the threats could be part of the war of nerves designed to rattle Ukraine. The nation's interim President Oleksandr Turchynov said that Russia gave Ukraine a similar ultimatum two days earlier, with the deadline of 5 a.m. on March 2. "They didn't start storming the bases on 5 a.m., but the situation is still tense there," he said earlier. --
1607 GMT: Two interesting reports from Kerch, on the eastern edge of the Crimean peninsula (map). The first is that the Russian Prime Minister, Dmitry Medvedev, has ordered the construction of a bridge from Russia to Kerch to directly link Crimea with Russia:

Something that I just read on BBC makes me think of buying a air ticket out of here before airports get closed:
16:02: RBL in London emails: Russia won't stop here, why not? Without Crimea, Ukrainian balance will tilt west so their action would be counterproductive. The imperative is to keep going.

Maybe time for Ukraine to go to ground, let Russia invade, then kick it's ass in a Guerrilla War.

This most certainly can be done.
Guerilla war is nasty business, just ask the Taliban
As soon as US leaved, Taliban is going to party like 1999

Rebel jingoism fail. Ukraine is now led by the most villainous scum around, so I don't see what guerrilla war you can have, especially with a large Russian population.
16:30: Sir Christopher Meyer, a former British Ambassador to the US, has told BBC television there is little Western powers can do to persuade the Russians to back down. He said: "I think we now have to accept that there is no way, and no form of pressure that can be deployed right now which will make the Russians withdraw from Crimea. Crimea and the great Russian naval base at Sevastopol are too important to the Russian national interest for them to go... So what we have to do is... come up with a right calibration of language, sanctions and diplomatic initiatives that will stop this crisis escalating into some form of hot war."

I think this maybe is not true. Not sure about it.
But if this is true, holy crap, that's crossing the line, they will lose European Support

Just remind the Russians how Afghanistan and Georgia worked out for them as well.... Guerrilla Warfare is the only way to defeat a superior (in Weapons and might) enemy...Dirty Business, but what option do the Ukrainians have.
