There is no perfect world. There will always be violence. Joining an organized group set out to kill others is not in tune with morality. Stand up for yourself but war is wrong and outdated/ has been exposed. The old school movies and "Jap" propaganda films were fun back then and gave you the chills with a prideful feeling. But that was the movies, life is real.

So it's moral to allow another one of those 'organized group set out to kill others' to kill you and your kin? All it takes for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing. Pick your side and never surrender.

You seem to prescribe to anarchy, yet you believe your current way of life is an entitlement?

No not true at all. Just calling out war for what it is - unnecessary at best.

Not at all, that is why I mentioned standing up for one's self. Im all for self defense.

But I don't think we will ever see the day when AlQueda, or Russia army or Syrian army goes down Mainstreet USA taking people from their houses. If that ever happens, Ill fight tooth and nail to protect my family and neighbors, but that doesnt mean I need to be wearing US issued fatigues.

However true that may be, what happens when your life is threatened by no doing of your own? Do you stand up and fight or roll over and play dead?

Edit: was typing as you were posting. Thats the answer I was looking for... so killing isn't immoral, its simply situational.

Obviously to me, you stand up and fight or you die. Why does that mean one must join the military to subscribe to this belief?

War is only unnecessary if you are willing to lay down your beliefs. You even suggest going to war out of shear opposition to the same?

In self defense killing can be justified.

Actually a bad example as they have a current agreement with Ukraine as well...my error but I thought it was enough to peak intrest and others would look into it.

"This autonomous "republic" is traditionally close to Russia, and as demonstrations continue to wrack Kiev and other regions more than two months after anti-government protests erupted, local lawmakers have asked Moscow for protection against what they qualify as "extremists"

www.eubusiness.com...

"In July 1992, the Crimean and Ukrainian parliaments determined that Crimea would remain under Ukrainian jurisdiction while retaining significant cultural and economic autonomy."

www.globalsecurity.org...

There you have a better idea of the agreement between the two....this is intentional as it would never fly otherwise. Putin is not a stupid man....he knows this situation could have developed into full scale civil war if left alopne which would be bad for the whole region and could spark unrest elsewhere within the former regions that belonged to Moscow. make no mistake that he also sees an opportunity, and remember that neither side here likes Russia but they like each other less.

Crimea is made up of ethnic Russian Muslims and the former leader of the Ukraine was no friend of Russia before all this broke out but the price of western friendship was more than they wanted to pay so he was willing to take the eastern deal instead but the people didn't like the idea. This is a real mess but for the time being, I see the moves by Putin as stabilizing an area much as they did in the past in Georgia, otherwise we would have fighting between Crimea and Ukraine right now

Why don't they ever reveal ,.putins, reply?

I have been thinking about that all along, not one single word.

First I want to sincerely thank you for giving us translated updates from the scene and hope that that you and your wife remain safe. I found this on the net regarding what Putin said:

The only belief in regards to war (if the term can even be applied on the following scale) is that when someone tries to harm you or your property, you defend your self to the best of your ability. I would not suggest war or physical bodily violence in any situation unless out of direct self defense (which hasnt happened in centuries and will probably never happen again unless accompanied by a life changing event at which point the whole common understanding of military would go out the window).

My sincerest apologies, my intentions were to support the people of Ukraine and stay informed of the situation over there. Thank you to all of those adding relevant and useful info to this thread, I will retake my spot on the sideline.
