It seem's that having a backbone does have it's price.
For instance,,

The tense briefing -- in which it was already known that U.S. Ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens had been targeted and had gone missing -- occurred just before the two senior officials departed the Pentagon for their session with the commander in chief."

Yawn. Another day of a "Russian Invasion".

Ukrainian army ‘on full alert’, president admits east is beyond control

The Ukrainian army is on full alert due to the “threat of a Russian invasion,” Ukraine’s acting President Aleksandr Turchinov said after admitting that the government in Kiev cannot control the situation in the east of the country.

“I am going back to the real threat that Russia would unleash a continental war against Ukraine. Our armed forces have been put on full alert,” Turchinov told Wednesday a council of heads of Ukrainian regions in Kiev, as news agencies report.

Ukraine Defense Ministry denies military drills planned in Kiev

Ukrainian armed forces aren’t planning to hold any military drills involving armored vehicles in central Kiev on Wednesday night, the country’s Defense Ministry said, refuting an earlier announcement from the mayor’s office in Kiev.

“Dear Kiev residents and guests of the capital! A tactical-special exercise will be held in Kiev on the night from April 30 to May 1,” says the short statement published on the city hall website. “Columns of combat vehicles are expected to be moving through the city as part of the exercise. Be advised that deployment of troops and hardware will take place in the center of the city.”

I love that statement:

"Dear Kiev residents and guests of the capital!" please enjoy our city in the midst of a gov't crackdown & rioting. Have a nice day!

0642.ua, a Lugansk-based news site, reports that separatists have seized the town hall in Alchevsk:

Today at 11 o'clock a group of pro-Russian activists, numbering around 30, entered the Alchevsk city council building. They were later followed by a number of protesters.

They held negotiations with the authorities and a second flag appeared above the town hall. However this was not the Russian flag, but that of Alchevsk. The Ukrainian flag was removed. Most of the employees of the executive council went home after lunch while the management remains at their workplace. A pro-Russian rally is expected for 14:00 [17:00 GMT].

Here is a video of the Ukrainian flag being removed from the town hall today:

They have NO control over the situation - it's now slowly reaching into Kiev. . .

EU ‘ready to provide financial aid’ together with IMF to Ukraine - Van Rompuy

The EU is ready to provide economic aid to Ukraine in cooperation with the International Monetary Fund, European Council President Herman Van Rompuy has said. “We need a fully-fledged agreement with the IMF but the EU is ready for macro-financial aid in the framework of the overall package,” Reuters quoted him as saying on Wednesday. Donetsk referendum to take place soon, 2000 polling stations ready

The Central Election Commission of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic has set up over 2,000 polling stations and 55 electoral commissions for the upcoming referendum, the head of the Election Commission told RIA Novosti Wednesday.

The referendum on the status of the Donetsk region is scheduled for May 11. Citizens are to answer the question - "Do you support the act on state independence of the Donetsk People's Republic?" Lyagin also specified that over 25,000 members of election commissions "from all territorial districts of the Donetsk region" will be monitoring the referendum. A 70 percent voter turnover is expected in the upcoming vote.

Observers invited to attend Donetsk referendum - election chief

Everyone willing to act as an observer at the forthcoming independence referendum in the Ukrainian city of Donetsk is free to do so, the election chief of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic Roman Lyagin told RIA Novosti Wednesday. "There is a plenty of organizations and entities willing to oversee the [electoral] process, and we, undoubtedly, are interested in the international recognition of our plebiscite," he said. "We are not inviting anyone and not rejecting anyone, so all entities willing to oversee the process will surely have such an opportunity."

The problem here is a major break down of security in the country.

Security is the most important plan on the table for at least what is left of Ukraine.

There have been pages and pages of copy and paste tweets about this whole situation.

Personally I have tried to keep an eye on the 'bigger picture' if you will. Look at what the left hand is doing while the right hand is keeping you distracted with what's going on between east and west in Ukraine. Whether there have been infiltrators ON BOTH sides is almost moot in my opinion.

At the end of the day, Ukraine will end up being the mess that we have seen left in Iraq, Egypt, Libya et all, regardless of which side is to blame.

Everything these days is interconnected and reliant on the other, from the ISS, to banking, to oil, to water, to land. The big boys are in this together. They could see the 'little man' getting pissed, so they do the obvious....cause dissent in the ranks and divide the majority.

As my old dad used to say....and he lived and saw most of this world with his 'travels' and travails during WWII from beginning to end...."at the end of the day, when you come full circle, there is no difference between Communism or Fascism, they are both engineered by the minority to control the majority for their own ends and interests, and to hell with us"

May I suggest, that we learn not to look at what IS happening....the dissection will come at the end of all this. But to realise what is really going on, not just in the Ukraine, but all over the planet....and wake up to the fact it is just history repeating itself but on a much larger scale?

See the bigger picture, join the dots. Soar like an eagle and see the bigger picture, not a mouse scrutinizing and nit picking the smaller stuff. There is a much bigger plan at play here.

Rant over and steps back for the flaming to start......which I wont engage in...so save your breath.

What has happened in Eastern Ukraine has clearly been a well thought-out campaign by Russia. Just like they orchestrated events in Crimea, they are doing the same in mainland Ukraine. It is disgusting and deplorable behaviour. Those men in Eastern Ukraine are not pro-Russian militia. The vast majority of them are Russian Special Forces. Ragtag 'militia' do not take over strategic buildings in the manner those men did. Twitter has proved to be an invaluable tool in telling the true story of what is happening as well providing interested persons with clear evidence that Russian Special Forces are on the ground.

Well this might help....

But in recent days Kiev’s tentative grip on local law enforcement in the east appears to have slipped completely. In Luhansk riot police stood passively in a courtyard, kettled in by separatists armed with bats and hammers. “The regional leadership does not control its police force,” Stanislav Rechynsky, an aide to the interior minister in Kiev, told Reuters. “The local police did nothing.”

Seems the police have just switched sides....or is this even more propaganda by one side or the other?

Actually the police perplexed me but than i started doing research and i found the police in Ukraine didnt operate like we would see law enforcement. Police in Ukraine are middle management what i mean is this they take bribes they extort money but they dont see their job as preventing crime. For example in Ukraine you get a traffic ticket you want to get out of ticket you go to local police station bribe cop its gone. If there is dirty work like they actually decide to go after real bad guys or there is a protest they actually hire people. This is why i couldnt figure out why there could be hundreds of police officers at rally yet 50 in a police station. Well they call people up they come in and assist the officers so they dont actually have to put themselves in dangerous situations. Police in Ukraine litterally contract out their jobs to others its very strange place. But this is also the reason we see them do nothing they are management in their eyes.

This is also the reason people seem to argue and negotiate with the officers people know this. And it also explains the weapon caches in the police precincts they hand this out to the hired stooges or thugs when they needed to. The people know this and are perfectly aware what the police have and where its at. If a civilian went into any police station in the US he would have no idea where they keep their weapons and you would also find most of it is issued to police officers.

One thing I find very interesting is the fact, completely overlooked by the media and political and social commentators, is that there are very many huge American Corporate Business interests who have extensive relations with and major operations in, Ukraine. Those Corporations include but are not limited to: Abbott Pharmaceuticals; Boeing; Chevron; Shell Oil; Coca-Cola; Du Pont; Eli Lilly Pharmaceuticals; Halliburton (ironically); IBM; Microsoft; Monsanto & Philip Morris. Does anyone really believe, for a moment, that the U.S. Government would allow Russia to assume possession of such vast U.S. business interests and properties without a fight; those corporate interests and lobbyists in Congress would not allow them allow them to... especially since so many members of Congress, in both houses are such major players and in the pockets of Big Business.

Report: Russian Military Urgently Assembles Medical Brigades: “There Is Work in the Ukraine”

Military observers have suggested that the buildup of Russian troops on Ukraine’s eastern border is so large that it is either the most expensive military exercise in world history or Vladimir Putin is positioning his army for a massive invasion of the former Soviet state.

On Monday the Israeli-based Debka File news agency reported that sources inside the U.S. Department of Defense strongly believe both countries are mobilizing military assets in anticipation of a first battle over the rebel-held flashpoint town of Slavyansk.

“The outcome will determine who controls the Donetsk region and possibly all of East Ukraine – the separatists or the provisional government in Kiev,” reports Debka. Given that Russia has one of the largest and well armed militaries in the world, the prospects of war don’t bode well for Ukraine. “With a superior, professional and well-trained force armed with a preponderance of fire power, the Kremlin has several options to choose from for this engagement,” none of which work in Ukraine’s favor.

While Washington is seemingly ignoring the possibility of an all out confrontation, time may be running short. Secretary of State John Kerry confirmed this morning that U.S. intelligence agencies intercepted numerous communications between Moscow and pro-Russian separatist leaders who may be responsible for numerous shootings at military installations and government buildings over the last two weeks. “Intel is producing taped conversations of intelligence operatives taking their orders from Moscow and everybody can tell the difference in the accents, in the idioms, in the language. We know exactly who’s giving those orders, we know where they are coming from,” Kerry said at a private meeting of the Tri Lateral Commission in Washington on Tuesday.

But the one indicator that Russia is not simply putting troops on the border for show is a report from St. Petersburg’s Rustlegraph news agency, which claims that the Russian Ministry of Defense has ordered medical brigades to be quickly assembled for deployment to the border. According to the report, the brigades are now standing by at the Russian Military Medical Academy in Kirov, approximately 600 miles or about a 12 hour drive from the Ukrainian border.

(The original report in Russian was provided by Shenandoah and has been translated using Google Translate) St. Petersburg military medics ready to ship to work in Ukraine By order of the Ministry of Defense in the Military Medical Academy in Kirov on the morning of April 25 were quickly formed military medical brigades. In team included military doctors of the number of officers and senior cadets WMA. They announced that there is work in the Ukraine.

As confirmed by the “Telegraph” workers of the Academy, on the eve of April 24, at about 22:00 of the Ministry of Defense was ordered urgent formation of medical teams to send them to Ukraine. At 5:00 am on April 25 physicians were alerted and arrived at the location with a disturbing set of VMA. Since then, the personnel of military medical teams are in the academy. “Yes, sit and wait. But so far have not sent anyone anywhere, “- said the” Telegraph,” according to a source in the Naval Academy.

It is not clear if these units have already been deployed, but the report indicates that there is a high level of urgency associated with the request to assemble the brigades and prepare them specifically for a confrontation in the Ukraine. Coupled with some 150,000 troops from Russia and Ukraine massing at the border, it looks as if the Russians may be preparing for an imminent strike and are now awaiting an order from President Vladimir Putin, who according to RussianNavyBlog has spent time consulting with his spiritual adviser over the last two days.

End of story,

It has something to do with the old soviet system as far as i can tell. The eastern bloc countries all have the same problems with corruption and jobs in the government are considered posts. There economies run off bribes and protection rackets. And it even occurs in Russia as well you want something done you better pull out your wallet your going to be paying alot of people alot of bribes. Say in Russia you want to get a business license first thing your going to do is bribe the local official. Or suppose you own a business and the police come in they say well if you dont want your business robbed you can pay us to keep an eye on the place. Im really perplexed how this became the norm for these people.
