This might also mean that soon we are going to see many more reputed 'little green men' in Eastern Ukraine, more arms and support for the pro-Russia protestors, higher levels of non-coperation with centre in Kiev.

Kiev has lost eastern region also. It would be wise enough to give it up peacefully rather than fighting and retreating.

Since 1991 Russia gave these "shameful thankless" Banderites $200 Billion plus and in return they are inviting the AngloSanxon enemies to point missiles at the throat of Moscow and station troops nearby.

Russian advance will be resolute, firm and irreversible.

UN chief says use of military force in Ukraine a mistake

Ban warned that any attempt to seek a military solution to the political crisis in Ukraine would be a grave mistake, Ban's spokesman Stephane Dujarric told reporters on Friday.

The Ukrainian government announced last week the launch of a special anti-terrorist operation providing for the use of military force against demonstrators.

Moscow called the decision to use force against protesters an extremely dangerous development of events.

Kiev-controlled military units announced 'a second phase' of the military operation, intended to block access to the rebel city of Slavyansk.

Outside of the US Ministry of Truth, nothing as of now from the Russian side to corroborate that Russia cut off comms. . But here's this in response to Chuck Hagel:

Russian Defense Ministry has not received any statements from Pentagon proposing telephone talks between Hagel and Shoigu - Moscow

He said that there have been no notices sent to the Russian Defense Ministry as of late on Hagel's desire to speak with Shoigu and that there is a standard procedure for this that has worked "for many years".

US can lose Russian market if bans rocket, space component supplies to Russia - Moscow

The United States introducing sanctions against Russia in rocket and space equipment supplies will affect the volume of the US production of space components, United Rocket and Space Corporation General Director Igor Komarov said.

"If now 70% of the component base for the space industry is produced in the US, believe me, if these sanctions are introduced, and last at least a year, I can bet that in five years the share of components produced in the US will be much smaller - 40-50%. The situation will inevitably change considerably," Komarov said on Rossiya 24 (Russia 24) TV channel on Friday.

"With the demand for such components another producer, who will be able to supply them to the market, will appear," he said.

"We are certain that if such a situation emerges, someone else will produce the components being produced in the US," Komarov said.

Putin Stops Talks With White House

Since the invasion of Crimea, President Vladimir Putin and President Barack Obama have had regular phone calls in an often half-hearted attempt to deescalate the ongoing crisis inside Ukraine. But as the U.S. and EU prepare to unveil new sanctions against Russia, Putin has decided the interactions should stop. The Kremlin has ended high-level contact with the Obama administration, according to diplomatic officials and sources close to the Russian leadership. The move signals an end to the diplomacy, for now.

“Putin will not talk to Obama under pressure,” said Igor Yurgens, Chairman of the Institute for Contemporary Development, a prominent Moscow think tank, and a close associate of Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev. “It does not mean forever.”

READ MORE Observers Snatched In Ukraine

Obama and Putin last spoke over the phone on April 14, a call that the White House said was initiated at Moscow’s request. Obama urged Putin in the call to end Kremlin support for armed, pro-Russian activists creating unrest in eastern Ukraine. Obama also warned that the U.S. would impose more “costs” on Russia if Putin continued his current course. According to the Kremlin’s readout of the call, Putin denied Russian interference in eastern Ukraine and said “that such speculations are based on inaccurate information.”

Obama and Putin have spoken to each other about Ukraine regularly over the past weeks, including calls on March 28, March 16, and March 6. But that these calls are now on hold for the indefinite future, due to their lack of progress and frustration on both sides.

On Friday, Kerry warned that new round of American financial assaults on Russia were on the way. “We are putting in more sanctions, they will probably come Monday at the latest,” said in a private meeting in Washington, according to an attendee. Russian businesses and individuals close to Putin would be on the sanctions list, he added.

Military relations -

Other top U.S. officials are also now out of direct contact with their Russian interlocutors. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel is also getting the cold shoulder from his Russian counterpart Sergey Shoygu. Pentagon officials have reached out to Russia on Mr. Hagel’s behalf within the past 24 hours but have not gotten any response, according to Pentagon Spokesman Army Col. Steve Warren.

That leaves the channel between Secretary of State John Kerry and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov as the only semi-functioning high-level diplomatic channel between Washington and Moscow. But even that often-frosty relationship has further chilled as the two sides hurled insults and accusations this week.

Ukraine needs to down their aircraft if Russia is going to continue violating international law and Ukrainian territorial integrity.

European military observers captured in Slovyansk

Ukrainian special forces have completed their encirclement of the city of Slovyansk.

But not before pro-Russian forces managed to kidnap a bus with seven military observers from OSCE member states operating under the Vienna Convention. The group was made up of four Germans, a Czech, Swede, and a Dane, and were accompanied by five Ukrainian officers. None of the men were armed. The separatists took them into the city, where the rebel leader accused one of being a Kyiv spy.

In the city schools and kindergardens are no longer functioning, and cash is in short supply.

Oh how the Russian story telling gets worse and worse -

Interfax news agency reported Russia’s commander in chief General Valeri Guerassimov, speaking by phone with his American opposite number General Martin Dempsey, said “large numbers of Ukrainian troops were massed on the border intent on acts of sabotage.”

Ukraine barely had an army when this started and now Russia is going to try and blame Ukraine for the Russian troop presence. What's next, the Russians stating they would never invade Ukraine while in the background are the streets of Kiev?

I agree. If they breached another countries airspace...like more to the West...they would have been warned and then shot down if they breached the airspace again.

Wow this article makes zero sense think about it the US bans sending rocket and space components meaning they cant sell them to Russia. then he goes on to say if the ban continues the US sales to Russia will drop to 40 or 50 percent because by then someone else will be making the parts they can buy from. But the us Banned selling them the parts in the first place so how is us sales going to drop anymore than zero. And it also means Russia wont have a replacement in place and gradually but other stuff it just all stops. Makes absolutely no sense must be hitting the vodka.

Exclusive: U.S., EU seen imposing sanctions on Russia on Monday - sources

(Reuters) - The United States and the European Union are expected to impose fresh sanctions on Russian individuals on Monday in response to Moscow's alleged efforts to destabilize eastern Ukraine, sources familiar with the matter said.

The sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the EU was expected to name 15 previously unidentified individuals to be sanctioned and would focus on those whom it believes are responsible for the unrest in Ukraine.

The United States was expected to sanction individuals and entities, they said, with the U.S. list of individuals expected to include "cronies" of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The sources said the one thing that might prevent the EU and the United States from moving ahead with the sanctions on Monday would be a sudden reversal of what they say is Russian-sponsored separatist movements in eastern Ukraine

But the White House said U.S. President Barack Obama and European allies agreed on Friday that Russia had escalated tension in the region, where the rebels have declared an independent "People's Republic of Donetsk".

Sanctions are hurting everybody and in this case I think the EU and the US thought the first round of sanctions would be a quick fix and Russia would keep their toys in their pram. Sadly, Russia hasn't changed it's position and continues to illegally control Crimea and has sent Russian Special Forces into Eastern Ukraine - which is a fact. Countries have militaries for a reason.

From the varying info dealing with economics and Russia, it has been suggested that Putin never thought that Germany would allow sanctions to occur based on their level of trade between the 2 nations.

Supposedly, when the sanctions hit, Putin was stupefied as it was something he did not expect.

Yeah, I seem to recall the differing readouts of telephone conversations between Angela Merkel and Vladimir Putin a few weeks back. Those readouts actually tell you a lot about the politics of the Ukraine crisis. If the second round of sanctions are imposed and they do not work then what next? NATO should start visiting army surplus stores.
