It doesn't work that way.. The mission is carried out by the UN Human Rights Commission and they are currently operating in Ukraine.

Then this is just a dog and pony show, and will amount to squat.

Russia is fed up with the West. The West is fed up with Russia.

We can make concessions and work together, or we can get on with the bloody.

Lets try this again... The UN Human Rights Commission is the one who has been running the investigation. It is composed of UN officials and not Ukrainians. The UN is wanting access to Crimea, which would include only UN investigators, not Ukrainian.

I am not sure where people got the idea of a nation involved being able to demand their own people be used. It would be like asking the SS to investigate Auschwitz - hence the reason for non Ukrainian / non Russians involved in the investigation.


Wow the Russian rep has some balls...

first taking to task reports made by "anonymous" people.
Then taking Ukraine to task for a media crackdown inside Ukraine.

If Putin is as shrewd as has seemed, he will allow that...as long as Russians are included in the mission in Ukraine.

Time to find out if he is as cunning as is claimed.

Human Rights commission sees only what it was ordered to see. It's like when you google something, you condition your search criteria to key phrases that back up your initial sentiment.

They are paid to do just that, are they not?

ps. water supply to Crimea was cut by junta to the point of water starvation on peninsula. Human rights you say, ha?

Western powers provoke Russia to cut gas supply to Ukraine in hopes if Russia does, to declare state of disaster on humanitarian grounds and use it as a pretence to put military UN boots in a region. But Russia for now will deliver supplies until situation totally defuses practically for no charge just to avoid that. But then, who knows.

Churkin is the Russian representative, who was taken to task by the British Rep.

I've already told you that the UN is a joke.
I couldn't care less what's happening there.
What counts is the situation on the ground.

Currently hot topic is new members falling out of nowhere.

The US rep made a valid point -

While the Human Rights abuses dropped when the new government in Kiev took over, human rights violations have increased in the south and east, areas Russia accuses Kiev for however areas where Kiev has the least control.

For those who are interested the UN website has their meetings archived. You can access them to see what has been going on with this issue and all others.


China is speaking now and is taking a middle fo the road approach, which is not what Russia is wanting. All sides must resolve the situation.

The Ukraine situation is complex and the only way to resolve the situation is by political solution.

China supports discussion on the topic by all involved parties.
