Then those armed groups inside sovereign Ukraine should surrender themselves and stop using the civilian population as their shields. They are inside Ukraine, and the South and East are a part of Ukraine. No referendums have been held and as such Ukraine has every right to deal with an armed intervention inside their borders.

If you don't like that then maybe you should push the pro Russians to cease and desist and wait for the meeting between all sides that is approaching.

Or is there some reason you think the pro Russian terrorist groups should be allowed to illegally seize territory prior to any meeting? That mindset means diplomacy at the end of a barrel. I hope Pro Russian forces wise up and end this before it gets out of hand and they find themselves under attack by Ukrainian forces while Russian forces do nothing but watch.

They cannot risk an engagement between Russian regulars and loyal Ukrainian troops. A victory by the Ukrainians in even a small skirmish would be disastrous for the aura of Russian invincibility, and a heavy loss by Ukraine might inch NATO closer to involvement, the thing Putin fears most in the world.

I was thinking the same thing, they will use the base for bringing in troops to the area.
