Smacked hard by whom?

If Russia is not afraid of the west, the EU or NATO, then why is he bitching about those entities while bitching about their proximity to Russian borders? If they don't post a threat, then there is no need for Putin to concern himself with them, or invoke them in anything he does right? But, if he didn't blame those entities, he would have to admit his land grab is based on nothing but a delusion on restoring the former soviet union.

Since Putin couldn't sell that without an infinite amount of propaganda, he will continue to blame the west.

You should get your talking points with the Kremlin. Going around stating the entities aren't a threat is not what Moscow is stating.

To answer your question, the Soviet Union collapsed because of the Putin mindset. You guys wanna give it another shot more power to you. It will just make this version of Russia downfall even quicker.

cosmonova
Their country ruined? lol at Putin ruined Russia. They are back, face it.

Sure, if you only read Pro Russian media. Feel free to step back out into the world where more than one viewpoint can be heard and you might see the issues the Russian economy is facing. No amount of conquest can fix their economic issues. Trying to revive self sufficiency at the expense of other sectors of the economy did not work during soviet times and will not work this time around.

You seem to fail to grasp that the bulk of nations on this planet don't accept Russia actions in Ukraine. While sanctions are a piss poor way to deal with someone like Putin, at some point you have to realize that Russia is not self sufficient, and by invading Ukraine and threatening other nations, people will not want to do business with Russia.

Which , if you look at history, brings us back to bread lines, cheap / shoddy manufacturing, wealth being seized for the government instead of the state.

Putin's revived dream land will not last long. That would be evident if Putin allowed polling and independent thought among his citizens, but apparently he feels Russians are incapable of exercising independent thought, so he will do it for them.

cosmonova
No, Putin has only ruined plans of those warmongers and baffons from White House.

Right, this comes back to the part of independent thought and media sources. Russia is the one who invaded Ukraine, not the west.

Even the people arguing for Putin are contradicting each other, which is hilarious to watch. By the way the view above, is the exact same view Hitler used in his arguments. It was always someone else fault.

cosmonova
Putin is the best thing that happened to Russia for a long time.

They said the same about Hitler... At least when its over with Putin and Hitler can compare notes and see where each failed. The other up side will be the massive amount of reconstruction needed for Russians to return their country to a state before a delusional psycho path seized power and thought he was smarter than everyone else.

You really need to research, INDEPENDENT research, instead of parroting what Putin tells you to. Not all Russians are as stupid as Putin hopes / assumes they are. I hope that those Russians take action before Putin closes and locks the door.

Uhm... yeah..

If you actually learn history you would see that Ukraine has always been in a screwed up economic state. Why?

Soviet Occupation...
Soviet economic policy...
An economic system Russia still has in places for major parts of its economies...

Or maybe we can look at former President Yanukovych, who used Ukrainian government funds as his own personal account?

So your attempt to blame anyone for Ukraine's issues is based on Putin's blame game and is devoid of any facts. Ukraine has been out from under soviet occupation for about 20 years. It was not until recently that Ukraine started looking west for opportunity. Russia made sure that did not happen. Had Russia's policy towards Ukraine actually worked, we would not be where we are now.

Russia has failed...
Putin has failed...
Ukraine has failed because of Russia and Putin, and instead of Putin admitting he was wrong, he invaded.

I have doubts they will move in as there is a lot of people on the streets, and around police station.
There might be some negotiation soon and after that those special forces will go away.
It is stupid what they are doing. While they are engaging in one town, 2-3 other towns have been taken by pro-Russian militia.
You can never win a war against people. And people have chosen their side.

There are conflicting reports about what is actually going on today. There have been reports of armoured personnel carriers moving into Donetsk and special forces on the ground in numbers in the worst affected areas. Those men who have seized police stations are Russian soldiers and they have been identified as such by military experts. Russia has started the invasion of mainland Ukraine. It's sad news.

Live text from BBC link above -

10:07: A local Ukrainian news website is reporting that another town in the Donetsk Region was taken over by pro-Russian forces last night. The report says the prosecutor's office, the police department and the town council were captured in Yenakiyeve. It quotes its correspondent in Yenakiyeve as saying that a Russian flag and a flag of the self-declared Donetsk People's Republic are flying from the town council building. The report says the gunmen left the prosecutor's office in the early hours after checking that no weapons were stored there.

10:25: Pro-Russian forces appear to be preparing for the Ukrainian military to enter Sloviansk. This photo shows well-armed men taking up positions on the outskirts of the city.

Breaking News One member of the Ukrainian security forces has been killed and five others have been wounded in clashes in Sloviansk, Ukraine's interior minister has said. Arsen Avakov said there had been an "unidentifiable number" of pro-Russian casualties during the "anti-terror" operation.

"This happened at one of the roadblocks set up by the separatists. They opened direct fire at security forces as they were approaching the roadbclock," an unnamed security source told a Ukrainian news agency.

Apparently SecState Kerry has spoken to Lavrov.

Ukrainian interior minister has stated armed individuals will be treated as terrorists and not protestors.

There are the things a lot of you do not understand or do not want to see.
Listen to this lady, starts at 1.25

www.youtube.com...

I know that many Ukrainians agree with her, at the end we have millions of Ukrainians working in Russia and many waiting for papers to join. Without Russia Ukrainian economy would ceased to exist. Russia is the one who invested a lot of money in Ukrainian economy not US not EU. Unfortunately, all Ukrainian governments to this day and I mean all were nothing more than corrupted bunch of losers. No wonder economy is in such a bad shape. People are fed up with it.
And along that, nazi thugs came in power. Violently. They took a chance and turned peoples protests into bloodshed and disaster.
I am so glad to see people waking up and looking towards east where the real friends, brothers are.

You got that backwards the Russian economy has been feeding off Ukraine. They are actually better at producing hi tech parts as evident by the fact they sell to Russia. There turbines for jets the parts as well as built their boats and missiles. To keep them under the thumb of Putin hes been using their dependence on gas and well now there breaking that chain having shut off the lines from Russia. How screwed up is it that there willing to shut off there gas supply even burn coal if neccessary to escape Russia. Think about how badly Putin screwed this up he could have looked like the good guy when this started. Ukraine wouldnt have shut Russia out there economy this was just a delusion Putin dreamed up.But i can guarantee they will now along with alot of Europe who now sees Putin as unstable to say the least.Merkel wanted closer ties between Germany and Russia Putin threw that out the window. Now shes leading the fight against him wow Putin had a head of another country that spoke fluent Russian and screwed it up.
