Russia Claims American Mercenaries Are in Eastern Ukraine

A statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry said that the Americans were wearing the uniforms of Sokol, a Ukrainian police force, and were “of particular concern.”

Apparently they think these guys are from Greystone
Formally known as Blackwater.

things could get very interesting if true

ProfessorT

@SkyNewsBreak: Reuters: U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry says it is clear Russian agents have been behind unrest in eastern Ukraine in last 24 hours
This will make relations between Russia and The West even colder.

The only time someone says "it is clear" is when they are telling porkies for general consumption. Kerry in particular has a habit of telling porkies... goes back many decades. "It is clear" is not a substitute for "there is proof" it's more likely a substitute for "We don't fecking know" but they won't say that, so just lie.

Just like it was 'clear' Assad used chemical weapons...

I think it's code for 'we have no proof but trust us, and don't worry your dumb little heads about it'.

A little more on the hostage situation -

The Ukrainian Security Service said Tuesday that "separatists" have the hostages inside a security service branch in Luhansk and are threatening them with arms and explosives. There was no word on the identities of the hostages. Ukraine says the building was seized Sunday by armed pro-Russian protesters.

Washington (CNN) -- The Navy warship USS Donald Cook is scheduled to enter the Black Sea no later than Thursday as part of the latest U.S. military effort to demonstrate support for Eastern European allies concerned about Russia's troop buildup along its border with Ukraine.

I got to this story from a link on Euromaidan's twitter feed.

That is like saying the US have a right to act like world police just because they helped Europe winn over Germany in WW2. Every american use that as justification for the US government agressive action against third world nations.

Hostage situation described by Ukrainian Pravda

This is stated in the Security Service of Ukraine. "Threatening arms and explosives separatists forcibly detained about 60 people, do not allow people to leave the premises and go home. Ie resort to means that are used by terrorists," - said in a statement. These actions are extremely dangerous as life-threatening as the people in the middle of the room, and those who are outside, said SBU. Security Service of Ukraine demands release of hostages, to enable them to freely leave the building, and lay down their arms and to clear office building.

except, maybe there is no hostage situation at all:

However, Reuters reported taht protesters occupying the the building denied the charge that they had wired the building with explosives and were holding people against their will. "There are no explosives, no hostages. We do not need hostages to get what we want," said Anton, one of the protesters who described himself as a coordinator of the action, according to Reuters.

Fair enough.

I would not put it past the FSB to start a rumor of a hostage situation in order to goad the Ukraine into an armed response.

Think about it, who stands to gain from this? Certainly not the Ukraine..

in the end it is always FSB, isn't it?

if there is actually a hostage situation that will still be FSB creating unrest in the region.

Ukraine is not in a position to gain anything because of it's own actions, I just hope Ukraine's response will not put them into position to loose everything.

Rumours of possible Russian invasion tonight.

Mil expert & @InfoResist head Dmytro#Tymchuk says separatists given order to prepare a corridor in #Luhanskregion for #Russia invasion

Full Dmtro Tymchuk's text and translation

The intelligence group, information resistance ", we, the Group of the" resistance "of Information from its sources received comprehensive confirmation statements by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine of that third day separatist activity in the East of Ukraine is the beginning of a script for a second phase of the invasion of Russia in our country.

In particular, our data show that today the GRU GSH separatist leaders of the ARMED FORCES of the RUSSIAN FEDERATION issued guidelines on the night of 8 to 9 April this year, a "corridor" across the State border of Ukraine for passing convoys of RUSSIAN military equipment from the Russian territory.

The separatists received orders to organize provocations with victims in the towns of the region. The Russian side might interpret this as "terror against the people" of the Ukrainian authorities.

In addition, coordinators of the Russian Gru, "working" in the region, the separatists have been instructed to use weapons in their efforts to free the captured the building.

According to our data, the Ukrainian police and security forces now are taking the necessary steps to block separatist groups. State border service and the armed forces of Ukraine are to block the border and the defence of border areas.

I agree, without outside intervention, the Ukraine has already lost. Putin set up and played this out perfectly.
